  2. Of course, but this topic is about locking PBOs, not encrypting models. Rarely does that stop people if they're dedicated enough to spiting you. (I just realized "spiting" could be mistaken for "spitting". :butbut: )
  3. Well that would get really old really fast. If I'm not mistaken it didn't take T_D very long to come up with his tool, so who knows if when this new security is implemented, it won't be cracked within a week? Developers/publishers spend a good chunk of money on DRM and despite it always updating and changing to combat the pirates most video game DRM is cracked within a month, at most, after the game is released. Even sooner if the game is popular enough. Therefore there really is no hope at all for it being any better with this, and all it will give you is a false sense of security. That's what I think, at least.

  6. People can criticize your actions, your work, and your opinion just like anyone else, no matter if you made addons or not. If the criticism starts to be unconstructive, their criticism becomes personal, or anything that goes against the forum rules, it'll be dealt with accordingly. No one can tell you that you can't do something if what you're "doing" doesn't even exist yet.

    The original poster's issue was from way back, just after OA's release. He was referring to the release bug with Arma 2 where the AI would stop working after loading a save game. This has since been fixed. For the record, reinstalling would not have helped. :p

    I didn't notice it before, but look at how the picture on the left has the guy in the front then the guy on the back left. The one on the left is obviously the front guy resized and moved - same pose, same weapons, same clothing, same reflection in the sunglasses (not even this has been adjusted to make it look like he's further away). They don't even appear to have taken his shadow with him. Pretty sloppy. :rolleyes:
  9. Do they not already have a choice to protect their work by PBO-encrypting and/or binarizing their addons? Most people I talk to who play Arma 2 don't have the slightest idea of how to get around binarized addons, or even PBO-encryption. I don't believe we'll support a thread posted in public that people want only a select few of the forum to participate in. If you want discussion for only addon makers, do it via PMs or use a different forum.

    Hm, I had forgotten about this thread. Anyways, this new interview was a great read. It's very refreshing to hear it from the side of some of the "new blood" at BIS.     The units must be set to playable for them to be able to be switched to when playing. A patch is probably coming soon to fix the pistol bug if BIS manage to isolate and fix it, but I can't promise anything. As to whether or not the tank recoil will be fixed, I don't know.

    Sounds like you are suffering from the pistol bug in the game, where the AI become immovable when they draw their pistols. BIS are aware of the issue, and I'd imagine a fix will be coming in future patches. Until then, if you are able to edit the mission(s), you can script it so that the AI don't have pistols via the removeWeapon and removeMagazine commands in conjunction with the weapon and magazine classnames, which you can find here. You might also be able to teamswitch to the affected units (the default key is "T") and sort them out yourself, either making them drop their pistols or switch their weapon back to their primary.

    Rejenorst's Missions [SP/MP/COOP]

    I had a great time playing this, Rejenorst. Really liked your use of voice acting, as well as the color correction and film grain effects. I think it would be great to see a finished version of this if you ever get around to it. (Oh, and I'm still really looking forward to the rest of TC2. Holler if you need some testing. :D )

  17. Sekra, some bad apples here have indeed been close to disrespectful to each other with minor personal attacks, but no one has specifically stated that they have no respect for peoples' work. On the contrary, I'm pretty sure everyone here will agree they are very appreciative of the work modders do for the community. Unpacking the mods made for the community and learning from them is not being disrespectful and if you think it is, you have chosen the wrong community to involve yourself in as that is how it has been here since the beginning. Without it, the modding community would not have grown as much as it has.

    ARMA 2:OA beta patch 74858

    For some reason, with this beta patch, when I alt-tab out of the game and then tab back in, it almost always insta-crashes, sometimes with the error you can see in the extract for my RPT below. Getting the same errors as other guys here, I've found out. RPT: PC Specs: Anyone else getting this? Only been getting it since I stalled this particular beta. :confused:
