I put the name "spotter2" in the composition variable instead of the unit variable Strange if i put it in a testmission everyting works out, if I put it in my actual mission i get an error about : etarray (configfille >> "cfgvehicles" >> |#| typeof _x "availableforsupport error typeof, type group expected objects I have no idea what this means or how to fix this

    Sorry to dig up this topic but I tried to use this script and I get an error saying that i miss a ";" . I might do something wrong, I placed the " _nul = [ spotter2, [mortar1, mortar2] ] exeVM "mortar_spotter.sqf"; " in the init of the spotter unit.
  4. Hello, After several search attempts on thise forum and the ofpec forum I was wondering if it is possible to "hide" the map and the magazine counter for the player. Also is it possible to "hide" messages? Like in tekst mesages witch players type in chat? This to make the mission more real.
  5. Okay I have a neww question. I want to disable the radio (if it is possible) for everybody exept for the radioman and the higest ranking player. I was think of using maybee the laserdesignator or batterie as a radio ?"_x hasWeapon {LaserDesignator}" => this would check if player has a "radio", right? But how then could I make it check if a player is in range with the radio man(lets say 1m away) and is the highest ranking player (not only in his group but overall/ or just his group) thx
  6. Thx Loyalguard and HitmanFF, I can disable the map and the gps for all players but is it also possible to hide show it to just a few players? About the mag thing: to bad it cant be disabled. The great thing about arma is its moddability but also its minor thing. If you want to play you need to have the addons.

    I think that loosing because the others have more money can be a bitch. Its a downward spiral that can hardly be stopt. Cant you make it so that if the money diffrence becoms like 1/3 ratio, the loosing team gets extra ai support like in a resitance group that automaticly goes to capture a town until they are killed, or more free equipment like a tank or airstrike or the sort, just to help out. ann other thought: is it possible to make it so that sertain towns are more valuble than others. Not in money but in use: like if there is a factory in town unita are produced faster, or cheaper weapons, ammo etc. Or all towns you own get anti air for free. Stuff like that. Keep it up.
  8. Hell I to want to be a beta tester. I always loved the vietnam era war, dont know why because im not american. Aside from the helisurfing bug I keep getting errors on the dskh about there are no drivers and it doesnt show up on the map. Also some trees haning in mid air or grass layers in mid air that look like they came from ofp (if it is the case then forget that last part) Huey handels really bad but thats probebly bad arma handeling overal. None the les I think it is pretty desent for an alpha. Ps: Wil there also be female civ. The kind that either koffs or stab you. "Me make love to you long time" has to be in it

    what col faulkner means is from HL2. A single renegade yank that wipes out an entire prisson, or even shoots his way out is hollywood. (although prisonbrakes did occure but these where extremly coordinated atack both from outside and inside, I remember a outbreak where 2 mosquittos dropped a bom aigainst a prisson wall and another in the guards mess at lunch time. The resitance where waiting outside to guide the prissoners to safty). Let him use stealth instead. Not with a plane crash but with a bombartment (plane= local problem, bomardment= WTF is the next one gone fall! Its pretty hard scripting but so more entertaining and satisfiyng then: "is that you John Wayne? Bratatatata, Yup I guess its me". You can also make a partizane group for each side (indipentent, opfor, bluefor) and let them open up the war by fighting umongst themselfs. You know a little bom hier, a hit and run there. Goverment troops not cappeble a handeling them, nazi killing civs as a retaliation for a bomb, us getting bombed by the comunist partizanes, etc, etc. Tell us a story on what happend on the island but please no comedy-rambo storys

    Isnt that doing twice the work? And with the low amount off addons they dont have a clue where they should use it. They said it themselfs there addons depend on weather someone makes it or not. I would hate it if i made a mission for an addon and the addon would never be made. If they would just wait until at leat each side had 1 player model, 2 diffrent weapons, a vehicle, maybee armor. At least then you can make some smaller missions, and later when there are more addons continue with the story line. Dont get me wrong a good campaign doesnt relay on the addons but on the storry, and is a must. I cqnt wait to hear the reason why Sahrani is occupyd and it should be reconquerd. Edit A smal tip came to my mind: djfrogstar is working on a donkey card with donkey. You should ask him if you may use it, just for realism
  14. Nice model. Are you going to give it selective fire modes or just the full (it hqs e duql trigger with singele fire and full fire mode)? Are you also going to make the static version with periscope vieuw and adaptable heigt or is this to much to ask?

    How did you make missions? With the 2(?) reskins for the US hopping in the opel blitz on road to aid the untexured sherman agains, who? Common you have practekly no addons ready exept a blitz (still no in game pics) I think it is a waist of time to make missions for addons that are going to come. This energy would best be used to learn how to make addons, or get some information about the era that you intend to use.

    just out of curiosety, you are going to use the sherman and tiger and panther, right? Will you be going for the realistic approach where the sherman is no match for the germans or are you going for the balanced way and make the sherman equal to the german (as off late '43) tanks? on a side not: Sherman crews where terrefid to engage a german tank because it would destroy them and germans crews where afraid to engage the shermans because the where with so many. Quotte from a german commander: We could alway take 5 of you shermans down for one of ouwr own but ther was always a 6ste sherman

    Wel you could say that sharani would ly somewhere in the atlantic so it could be used as a Suply base for the u-boats. Just food and fuel deposit. maybee even a radar station (the big net type) or a weather station to give info. This way it would explain the german presence and the reason for the us invasion. You could even make sahrani troops on the side of the germans, the us and even a resitance side that want's neither on the island, would make some neat missions. or you could say that there is an secret lab and that would explain the zombies we see today .

    Hey, hey, i'me not telling you anything, i'm just giving you advise, you say you have a plan and sutch but, never have i seen something that indicates you have one. So pleas tell us what the plan is or atleast give a littel more info if it is sutch a big secret. If you tell us what you intend to make, you get A: more atention, B:more help. Did you hear about arma 1943? No. Well the gone us a panther and ss! Wow, that is nice maybee i can help because i love panthers and i can model a bit. No good mod ever started with: hey we are ... and we gone make something about WW2 and we need volenteers. Especially if the leaders did do squat and bosed around. Been in several, none made it to even alpha. Thats why you guys should try to learn (as stated). I mean you don't want this to happen do you: Ok I have a panther, a nice panther, who wants to do the panther? No-one? Nobody? Ok, screw the panther! next we have a kubelwagen ...

    Ok I found youre news on the site. And I stick with what i said. making a fictional campaign does give you some freedom in what to chose but still: I want to know more! Surley can tell us at least one thing of every categorie US Boats: - higgins (i asume it wil be the US that will liberate sahrani) Tanks: -Sherman (as stated) Cars: -Mg-jeep (please not that LEGO model) Soldiers: - US Army judging from the uniform Planes - mustang (just a wild gues) Germans Boats: - ? (they must have something to intercept us) Tanks: -? (guessing panther) Cars: -? (another gues: kubelwagen) Soldiers: - Whermacht/shutzstaffel/hitlerjugend? Planes - ? (cant go wrong with a messersmitt or a stuka) And how about the citizens? Any resistance against the Germans, or maybee resitance against the invading US? Now that would be diffrent!

    Really? Where? Well then I missed that but if you go through the thread it sounds like they jumped on to something without knowing what. A fictional campaing on sahrani can be a good start to get the feeling of modmaking/addon making, but still its need a little historic aquratie. cant have a 1939 german uniform battle against a 1945 us army uniform. When i saw the jeep and they where really enthousiastic with it, like a kid in candyland with no parrents, I thought Oh-ohw this is going bad. the fact that they didn't even noticed that it looks like nothig real it made me think if they knew what they were doing.

    Hmmm, I've been folowing this thread for start and I must say that I would hate to predict where this "mod"/"addon-pack" is going to. You are young, enthousiastic and you want something. Most of the times the result is pregnaty, I youre case it should be a "mod"/"addon-pack". And it could get there but the start isn't that very well. Let me explain: =>What should people expect when they download youre "mod"/"addon-pack" Well I don’t know, tom, dick and Harry don’t know, and to be honest I don’t think that you know. Nowhere you tell us what what we are gonne get from First alpha release. And everytime some one asks you you say: soldiers, tanks, boats, plans. Woepadoodledoe! That can bee anything. => How can we change this? Simply bye thinking: - First: youre "mod"/"addon-pack" is called arma 1943, so i presume it wel be in 1943, will it stop in 31 dec 1944 or will it continue until 1945? - Second: Where wil it be situated? Alot of things happend in 1943: paulus surrendering at stalingrad, Guadacanal is conquerd bye the americans, Sicelie is invaded, Mussolini is arrested and replaced, but is freed bye germans and starts an italic counter regime. There are alot of theaters to choose from so pick 1 and concentrate on that one and only that one until it is finished. - third: When you decided witch conflic to do, you have to find out witch nationalities where involved. Then you need to find out witch armys, corps and regiment where fighting at that time at that place. Then you need to find out what was there equipment, weapons and vehicules. And if you have time left for the finishing you can find out about medical, messengerservice, spare-time usage to give it that finishing touch. -Forth: Decide witch of this regiments, equipment, weapons, and the lot you gone use. But start small. Don’t start making 20 tanks, 50 guns, and 100 soldiers. No, make the most common used to start with and when they are top notch and released you can start with the more uncommon used. Since you are going to make a WW2 "mod"/"addon-pack" try to be as accurate as possible don’t give people the chance to flame that this or that isn’t accurat and that didn’t look like that, etc. This isn’t an attack on you guys, it is just some advice to help you get a little more structure and to get a hell-of-a-"mod"/"addon-pack†out. I love WW2 "mods"/"addon-packs", and i think arma is a good engine the past prooved it with ofp and some damn good "mods"/"addon-packs".

    Do you mean a heavy droopship as in a ship with alot of men or as in a ship that dilivers an apc with men, a tank or the trucks? Would be cool to see a masive ship desending rapid, touching down, release a tank and take off again. The tank just roars into battle.

    Hey i love that new design for the troop carrier makes me think of a rollercoster ride. but this ride has bombshells . Also (not that it is a bad thing) it looks like some sort of urban police squad car, not realy military more civilian protective force Where are you from then, letavia sounds very familiar.
