i like the ak 47/74/107 generally, i like the openness of the sights. but my all time favorite is the SVD cammo, especially in ace because you can adjust the elevation/windage

Question about ambient bullet sounds .actual or random.
Yoshama replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
BI doesn't have built in ambient sound except for animals and stuff. any combat sound you hear is actually happening. i've set up missions with combat on the other side of a hill and it sounds amazing! some times tho a mission creator doesn't want to lag the system with too many objects so they will add in ambient combat sounds, but you need to insert a sound file for that. and then it usually doesn't sound right -
i love it, because i set up a night mission, and one of my guys has big ole' aviators on and its dark as s***. but i don't think this is a high priority

One thing that bugs me is that people always only play as blufor. that's not a bad thing but then they start complaining the enemy is too accurate, i challenge those people to play as opfor! most of my maps are played as opfor. i bet you will find the AI using an m16 to be just as accurate too. realize that you can be as accurate with the m16 as the ak107 or ak74 and sometimes the ak47(should be less accurate but not much) if rounds from 200 m away are landing within 2m of you, you are probably doing the same to the enemy when you shoot at them. i don't think its only cod players that find the enemy accuracy to high, its any one who doesn't realize that the accuracy they can shoot with to mow down herds of enemy can be applied by the AI to them

Have the world make shadows on itself
Yoshama replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
yes! there needs to be a full shadow on the dark side of the hill/mountain. it is also annoying when you see the sun through a mountain, (i know a1 did it haven't tried it with a2 yet) -
does any one know, or are we doomed to have a couple queer squads with only one squad leader?
-
this holds some water, it may be small, but it is a lot of small things becoming one big problem, i avoid making maps around towns because i drop like 20 fps, its the small stuff that needs to be streamlined to increase performance!

if you are the gunner in a mi24D/V or in a cobra and you have the gun active, you can do this by using the mouse
-
main screen turn on, i had the same thing one time, when i hit esc to get to the menu all i would see was my mouse
-
i had a m1 Abrams tank roll over on a little rock...
-
i love how the AI helicopters don't ignore infantry any more! i love to just set up a squad in a field or a town and watch an mi24 or a ka52 take out the squad with a carpet rocket attack. i've noticed that the aircraft also do it too! :)

Animal Auto-Population May Need an Adjustment...
Yoshama replied to An-225's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
maybe some one let their animals loose, i've seen wolfs and other stuff on airports before, heard stories about deer and stuff can you dig it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxVLHaHUI4E -
i love how with the iron sights how your weapon sways and can be inaccurate, but when your weapon has a red/green dot sight the dot should adjusts for the sway. the dot is not a fixed point on the gun but a hologram.
-
its not a projector onto a screen, its a hologram, (they used it in ww2 for aircraft gun sights) its a neat technology. I've seen a mod for ArmA 1 do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd-FwJjpUbE

arma II is still on the top sellers in steam

if you want a cool range finding and sniping tutorial http://www.shooterready.com/lrsdemolow.html i havn't tried it yet in arma 2 but in know that yes the svd and ksvk are accurate so this might be too

Chopper Flight Sim needs to be reconfigured
Yoshama replied to minolestia's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
You say war rock is a good example of flight sim? "let me just fly through this tree here" haha i think flash point was better at helicopters than war rock -
We need anti-tank-dogs! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tank_dog this would be pretty cool! :D

the side mounted cannon dose not have enough flame (its a minor thing) it should look like this at part :33 and part :40

i like to micromanage the locations of my squad. ill send them into certain positions and have them crouch or prone. ill put the mg in the middle and others around to cover the flanks, anti tank soldiers stay away from the squad when engaging tanks or else the entire squad dies. when i attack i leave the mg or sniper back to provide over watch while the rest of the squad moves in with me in line formation. when i pick a place to hold down i look for tree lines or sometimes down a street, especially on a hill. i haven't got much practice with a2 yet but in a1 it worked pretty well. in a2 so far all i have is used the micro AI and just moved when they moved, or i stick in a formation i have experimented with bounding over watch, its fun but slow, i don't always have 2 hours to play a2

i made a sniper mission the other day it was simple with 1 squad 2 patrols and 1 sniper team in a village and i was in the forest about 350-500 m away, first using the SVD i had a little bit of a problem with them finding me, after the first shot they would not know where i was yet, after the second they had an idea, after the third they were charging at me and suppressing me, if i missed the first few shots they would not recognize the shots. (my accuracy was about 50-50) if i only shot 3 shots i could get away, if i stayed they would find me and kill me I tried it again with the ksvk and was able to not miss a single shot. when i was killing with every shot they had a harder time finding where i was. i was able to eliminate every one in the village with out them even knowing what hit them. they would send out people in different directions but never find me i used the vss but the sucker was not accurate enough at that range. but the silenced shots were not as effective because i missed so they found me try using at least 300 m, because that is where the accuracy of an assault rifle and a sniper rifle start to become obvious, and never miss, because a miss shot tells the target where you are, and they tell the squad

the first annoying bug i have is when i am flying the hind with manual fire and the AI gunner auto switches weapons. i will be strafing the target with rockets when he decides to switch to guided missiles mid fire the second annoying bug i found is with the command interface. on the map when i was in an apc i tried to send a foot mobile to a position, but mid sentence it would send the apc instead. also it wont unselected a unit after i gave an order. another thing thing is it wont reset the command menu when in the commander view, (i got my command micro down from ofp and arma and i find myself tripping on this) sry, ranting and raving, i dont know if any one else if having these problems, but they sure do get frustrating love the rest of the game tho keep it up
