How about 2100 era? I love scifi, and you could have anything in it, based on newtonian physics of course. Think of railguns, they're definitely doable in real life, but the power it requires is huge. Maybe a mini fusion plant powered AA platform that uses a railgun? :P

Stupid, you can make the "hard copy of the game" compatible with Steam. All it has to have is a steam compatible cd-key so you can register it.

You used alpha-textures in the trees? Why on earth considering the amount of trees? I only have Unreal Engine 2/2.5 experience, and all vegetation on it use masked textures, not alpha textures. And masked textures don't cause that much overdraw and the engine doesn't have to calculate which pixel to draw.

Are you planning on doing a hi-poly version for normal mapping procedures?

lolo it's Monk. o/ And yea, ArmA is is a rough diamond. Better AI is badly needed though.

how to make choppers and planes fire at infantry?
xendance replied to dragunov90's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Such a shame that you have to script them to attack... The native AI code should handle that :| -
I thought you make normal maps out of hi-polygon meshes.

Currently, the zip holds two folders, addons and dta when should be like NewView_X/dta + addons. That way they would get extracted properly IF you extract it to your ArmA folder as the readme says. It's just too much hassle to manually move everything.

How many triangles does that model have?
-
For the love of god update the first post so that you don't have to search for a version that works on all these pages. And btw, the folder structure in the zip file is wrong. Fix it. Cheers.

In my opinion, it looks like Pedobear.

SciFi Project: UNICON warfares
xendance replied to Sennacherib's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Well then I ask you, would it be more useful to make a slightly more detailed model with no normal map? As we all know, normal maps are used to create the illusion that the low-poly mesh has as much detail as a one million polygon mesh. Why waste memory for a normal map you can't even notice? -

How many triangles did the high resolution mesh have which you used for making the normal map? -

Where the hell am I supposed to put the AI and script folders if I want to do a mission using this? The readme requires installation notes for noobs like me. -
Ok, first of all, since nvidia hasn't released drivers for the 7 series geforces since last november, you don't get SLI in ArmA unless you do the SLI profile yourself. You can do it by nhancer. Other option is to rename the arma.exe to fear.exe. Then nvidia drivers will think it's the real fear.exe, and because the drivers have a SLI profile for it, you get SLI in ArmA. But I suggest doing the profile by using nhancer. It isn't hard, just click "add" and then find arma.exe. Then select the SLI method (Split frame rendering or alternate frame rendering). I get 30-40 FPS on my 7950 GX with everything on normal (no AA though and post processing is on low and textures on low because of the memory bug) with the resolution of 1920x1200. I used to get 15-30 fps on the same setup and options before I made the SLI profile. Yes, ArmA looks hawt in 1920x1200 8) I also have C2D E6700 and 2GB of 800 MHz DDR2 RAM.

So I finally got my game, the german version of ArmA. After much drooling I set the DVD in the drive and set in the cd-key yaddayaddayadda.... It went fine except at uninstaller.exe it displays this http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/7848/asdfddsfvf1.png and then the installer rolls back leaving nothing installed. I tried extracting the data manually from the DVD but it didn't work. Screen just went black and then it returned to the desktop. I guess this is because I don't have the registry files installed. I know this isn't the german forum, but I can't understand german so I'm forced to ask help here. Any ideas how to make it install?
