the swastika wasn't invented by the Nazi's. it's over 3000 years old. the oldest known symbol in the world. before the nationalist socialist party took it up it was a commonly used symbol world wide that stood for peace,Good luck,Welfare and such. you can even see a swastika on the spirit of St.Louis as a good luck charm. soldiers in WW1 wore them for Good luck. just because everyone may think they stand for hatred, genocide and Nazism. doesn't mean the majority of people are right. Strange though you may think it. any symbol could have been chosen and it would be in the same position of the swastika. Banning a symbol isn't the answer. but that's the course they've taken. as I've been informed the Beta will contain them. the final they will be replaced with iron crosses. unless there banned as well Â
-
i guess a german version could be done for the final. i can take the swastikas off the texture quite easily (separate layers in photoshop) but i doubt this will be in the beta. final version maybe i'll have to talk to rip about it. in the end it means 2 versions of the product with minimal difference. i try to follow the paint schemes that are shown in photos from ww2 so that it looks as accurate as possible. the majority of German aircraft seem to have swastikas on the tail upright.

To Be honest this was brought up in the earlier pages of the thread. in my view the swastika has been around for many years. (in fact I'm pretty sure it's the oldest known symbol in the world. even older than the ancient Egyptian ankh.) Thus was around far before the National socialist party adopted it in 1920. there has been many uses as a good luck charm as a symbol for welfare, prosperity and peace. it's not a symbol that should be linked with violence and genocide.it was used widely the world over until the link with the nazi's. As someone said before. the Germans need to deal with there past,Not ban it. as i recall many other mods have had no trouble with swastikas forgotten hope for BF1942,Red orchastra had swastikas aswell as i recall. and I'm sure people from Germany still play them? Also the BF109 has swastikas, as well as the JU-52. the JU-87 stuka Will have swastikas when it's textured. if it was on the plane in picture from WW2 then it will be on the texture i make.

Agreed with that, After contacting a selection of WW2 OFP modders i got a very positive response. many were more then happy to offer work. we have permission from T_Roc,Goth_burner,BraTTy,ATST_walker (B45) & JOHN and hopefully will do there work justice.
-
T_Roc has agreed to help with the mod in respects to donating his models from OFP and helping in the conversion process. Also he stated that if he has time he said that he might make some new models, but he has such a huge collection of models for OFP that i think they will keep everyone busy on the conversion process for a long while. hopefully we'll suceed in getting T_Rocs and everyone else's models that have been kind enough to offer them back into battle for arma an offer then a extended lease of life.

all i can say is beautiful, can't wait to be firing those big .50 cals at foolish low flying aircraft
-
i know linker split had trenches that worked with the AI firing from inside and at people that we're in there. the way i was thinking is perhaps like a complex. a system of trenches that covers a large (not huge) area. this could be used for field command or artillery/anti air positions (think Brecourt manor) so it slopes gently up from the terrain but blends in to the island think it would be worth a try in the fixed position large trench systems.
-
the only trenches able to be added would be something like a static object above the ground. but with AI not shooting from it and into it it could be very dodgy. i'll have to talk to a few people and see if we can come up with something got to say. i'm really happy with the way the He-111 turned out
-
yes, .30 was the light machine gun typically used on earlier fighter aircraft and as a "portable" squad support weapon, .50 cal was the heavy machine gun typically used in a mostly Vehicle mounted weapon roll ie the top mounted commander machine gun on the sherman. also used on ships for AA defense usually in a mount that held between 2 and 4 .50 cals. the were used extensively in the aircraft's P-47,P-51 & B-17.
-
having official designation would be overly drawn out. M1919A4 Browning, Cal.30 machine gun / .30 cal and the Browning Machine Gun,Cal.50, M2HB/.50 cal. you only look for a recognizable point in the name during weapon selection in the heat of battle (or at least i do) so as long as you have a obvious idea of what your firing, (.30 cal,.50 cal) i think it's fine as it is.
-
i'm a bit confused by what you mean. the M2 is a browning, the Browning M2HB (heavy barrel) .50 cal machine gun. and the browning that was used on this craft. everything is present and correct.
-
Haha Got to say this made me LOL hard. the .50 cal was extensively used in ww2. from Aircraft & tanks to landing crafts and Anti aircraft guns. all we're equipped with the .50 cal in some way.

the beta will arise when it's ready. please have patience. it will be rewarded in the end

as i remember a lot of aircraft on all sides had pretty inaccurate bombing until the use of the Norden bomb sight. The norden bomb sight allowed a 100ft (30mt) area to be hit reasonably accurately from a height of up to and over 20,000ft. Which was a large improvement over the older drift sights also the Germans used a sight not too different to the norden thanks to a employer (Herman W. Lang) conferring with German military authorities in 1938 and reconstructed plans of the confidential material. (in 1941 he was arrested by the FBI and sentenced to 20 years on espionage charges) little bit of history for you

Battleships, cruisers,Carriers would all bring there own set of rules completely I'd think. i know they're defiantly not 1st phase, maybe not even 2nd stage. ships should make it in some shape or form sometime though. Haha Landing a Heavy bomber like the Lancaster on(into) a carrier might be interesting. It is a great laugh flying something so big in arma. It's also fun shooting them down with fighter aircraft :P the Lancaster does have 28 bombs but if you have a decent amount of speed I'm sure you can get far enough away from the first bomb detonating from 500ft to survive. also Lancaster take quite a bit of stick before reaching a critical damage and the crew bail out. i'm sure you'll be fine come the time
-
you can find quite abit of stuff at Image After. It depends on what your after though. pretty much the best other one around it'll fill the time between days when you run out of limit @ CG
-
you can swim on water in arma i can't see why it would be any different in the mod it will however take a long time, it took a good 8-10 minute flying over the channel in the lancaster. so swimming might get boring after a while.

Custom Statics(houses, trees etc..) are not priority at the minute, at the minute we're working on equipment, weaponry and machinery.
-
just from a quick check. London,Hastings,Southampton,Crawley,Portsmouth,Canterbury ,Brighton,Bournemouth,Eastborne,Swanage,Newport and Dover To name a few, hopefully this answered your question

Let me just say this, i really can't see us running out of "fuel" Rip is an amazing modder (who i swear is partially a machine) this guy can create stuff in a time frame that really does boggle the mind. I've been round the block (in ArmA ww2 mods terms) and I'm just glad to have found a mod that has clear set goals a great work rate and a promising future. all the comments on our work is motivation enough for me to keep going day after,(that and a jug of strong black coffee) And as long as rip is happy to continue the work,I'm more then happy to keep working with him till the project is done. Hope this helps to dispel any fear you may have about us "disbanding" without a release
-
well maybe you can take solace in the fact that when the beta is release it will be XYZ% better then it would have been at this point. sorry to disappoint anyone but the beta has been delayed for good reasons. and once these reasons have been fixed the beta will emerge
-
Checking back through the topic would bring up this. Beta has been postponed whilst some issues are being cleared up,and extra equipment added. there is no set ETA at present. keep an eye on the topic and news will continue to show up.
-
I'm pretty sure it's a complete package. give it a try i don't think you've be disappointed to be honest. ever since i downloaded i don't play without it
-
yep agree with what has been said, FFN does a great job at urban firefights, building clearing etc... i'd recommend it. so downsides perhaps. is that is restricts vehicles to crewman/pilots. so you can't steal enemy vehicles as a officer or grenadier for example. other then that,it's a must
-
I'll Leave it to rip to answer this 100%. but I'll give it a shot to answer as much as i can now. 31st Normandy Mod yes, It is. This Phase Is Covering Normandy. the map includes southern Britain,The British Channel and a large proportion of France. By Japanese Suicide Planes do you mean Kamikaze, or do you mean the actual planes which were dropped from bomber and were basically jet powered flying piloted bombs? Other Theaters will be Worked on, in what order i don't know. which theater next,i don't know. All i know is that finishing the phase we're working on is our goal at the minute. As rip would say. "lets not put the horse way out in front of the cart" Also there were many D-Days. Normandy,Guadalcanal etc.. Which one was THE D-Day if you mean "operation overload" that will be covered in the phase we are working on at the minute. After the mod is finished it'll be finished with everything done that we hoped to include. when that is i don't know. it comes down to the age old answer. "it's finished when it's finished" if you mention something that we think might be a good idea to include in the final release of a phase,we might just go ahead and include it. Hope this answered your questions
