  1. Missions pack available for ArmA 1. Due to work moving to the ArmA II area, these will be the last done for ArmA 1.

The pack includes 7 missions out of which 5 patrol missions for 12 players and 2 clearing missions for 20 players. Drop the files into your ArmA/MPmissions folder and play. Needed for the missions are Unsung R1 Alpha release and Lowlands island for ArmA 1. Download links added into a readme file within the missions pack.

    Download links:

Thanks for the Download links people! :hyper:

  2. recently i returned to playing this mod and i just wanted to ask if you guys managed to get a patch for ati-users...

Nope no fix yet sorry. Most likely there never will be as we are heading into AA2.

now i also wanted to ask if there are changes in the ai capabilities if i use other units ( except for the fact that they use other weapons, with different properties offcourse ), i have made a few missions for myself and the firefights seem quite normal although i remember that during your patrol missions the ai gave me more problems.

Not that i am aware of. But i'll wait for one of the configgers of our mod to answer that one. I am just a mere mission maker. :p

CAA1 - Make BI ArmA addons available in ArmA II.

Aha...see i am an idiot. That and i also don't have AA2 yet. Hence my idiocy :D Thanks fo the headsup kju.

  3. I seriously do not get why people have problems with the performance. We have just been playing online the 4 of us and had an overall performance of about 20 fps. This was on Kham Duc and Ngok Tavak islands. As said before, you cannot have a huge dense jungle with 2000+ viewdistance. Not happening period. But as you are mostly on the ground you can have approx 1000. Also we had several occassions where the enemy AI was literally walking by so close you could poke them with a stick and they didn't see us untill we opened up on them. And we had AI in our squad as well.

Here's my settings for the game: click me

    My system specs are:

    Intel Quad Core Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz

    3 GB RAM

    32 bit OS

    NVIDEA Geforce 8600 GS

    Vista (Beep)

    Running ArmA 1.16 without QG.

My average FPS is between 18-24 FPS on the maps with battles going on of 3x3 squads. Try the settings i use and tell me what you get on FPS. Maybe we can find a solution to the problems people say they have with the jungle.

  4. also i have found fighting in the jungles much harder then normal fights so if anyone has some good jungle tactics it would be nice if they would share them.

    In contacts

    When alone:

    - Keep low

    - Do not run or walk upright :nono:

    - Move small pieces (due to heavy breathing)

    - Do not waste ammo

    - Move away from a contact unless you sure you can take them

    In group:

    - Get on your belly.

    - Do not run or walk upright

    - Make sure the 60's (if there are any) have a clear field of fire towards enemy.

    - Get the entire team close together in somewhat of a circle, but not to close so that 1 nade takes out the lot of you.

    - Move small pieces (due to heavy breathing)

    - Let the team watch in all directions

    - Dig in and fight.

    - Make sure you know where everybody is within the team so you can use arty if available.

    On patrol

    When alone:

    - Keep low

    - Do not run :nono:

    - Move small pieces if in crouch mode or on belly (due to heavy breathing AI will spot you)

    - Watch 360 degrees a lot

    - Move up slowly and do not get yourself into clearings, open spaces or very low vegetation

    - When moving around try to stay somewhat near bigger tree's, rocks or tree/bamboo clusters so you can instantly dive to them for cover when in sudden contact. (Use the terrain)

    In group:

    - Do not run

    - Move in a colum or staggered column with maybe 1 or 2 guys ahead of you that spot contacts so the rest of the team can prepare in time. (works good for me)

    - Do not have machine gunners walk point or scan ahead. (lotta fire power gone if they get killed)

    - Move slow and small pieces (due to heavy breathing)

    - Let the team watch in all directions

    - Stop from time to time to check map where you are (for coordination and for arty use when instantly needed)

    - Make sure you know where everybody is within the team so you do not fire at own members by accident (friendly fire) and also so when a team member does get caught between you and the enemy, you know he is there.

That's it in a nutshell, it kept me alive through those patrol missions :suspicious:

  5. unsungarmar1recruitment.jpg

The Unsung Mod is on a wide scale recruitment offensive for Armed Assault.

After our freshly released Alpha we now want to steam ahead to our next release.

But to get it done, we need a lot more help. We need you!

We need help in all fields of expertise. We need: Configgers, Moddelers, Scripters,

Sound editors, Texturers, Animators, Island builders and Mission makers.

Do you have allready some knowledge in any of the above fields and are interested in

the Vietnam war like we are and feel you could be of help? Do reply in our recruitment

    thread on OFPNAM.com: click here.

  6. Whoaaa...please get rid of those old OFP cardboard plants and stuff!! Imho such things doesnt fit anymore into new ArmA + Arma2 world/terrain. What about using better looking ArmA placeholders until "Vietnam/Asia plants" are done?

Sorry no can do. ArmA doesn't like high res jungle all over the place. And no place holders from ArmA no way! It's a choice of fantastic jungle and no playability due to huge lag or an ok jungle and playablility without lag. We tweaked and tweaked for months on end to get this right. We want everyone to enjoy the jungle not just people with lotsa money that can buy a very expensive super duper computer. And do remember this vid was shot at low and very low settings. Once it's turned up it looks a lot better.

  7. Not been paying much attention to this tbh, however i looked at the beata and their were sh*t loads of units. Looking to be one of the top releases for ARMA when it does come out!

    :dontgetit:

Eurm we haven't released a beta yet for ArmA... I think you are confusing us with some other mod. :suspicious:

As we also have not got sh*t loads of units...

  8. Don't worry it's not that demoralizing. ;)

What is, is that the release is hanging due to some stupid last thingy's for some time now. And it's soooo frustrating. As like you guys we would finally want to see this thing get out the door so we can get on to bigger things. But if this does not get done proper then the rest of the entire planning can get just swepped together in a huge pile and binned. But we are trying and slowly getting there. And if correct it should not take long anymore. But just do not ask how long that "not long anymore" is gonna take. We do simply not know. But we are trying to get it done asap none the less.

    Now quit yer yappin'! :D

  9. Well okay small update/show of stuff.

As we are aware that not everybody has a good machine, we made the large island in another smaller version. It concentrates on just the SW part of the Kham Duc main island. The smaller island is called Ngok Tavak. So i recorded a small firefight out there in the jungle. I had a FPS count of around 24 while having 5 squads stealth fighting around me and viewdistance at 600. Why 600 you ask? Well i f#### only can see around 150 in front of me so why the hell have it at 1000 or more.  biggrin_o.gif

    Anyways here's the Youtube vid:

Now let us work in peace a little so we can finish this thing. Like Yac said, we busy.  nener.gif

  10. Awww  sad_o.gif

Well i fully can understand your decission MehMan. Many of times Modding can feel like a secondary job next to your real life every day stuff. And often you wish you hadn't started as you have all that modding to do and it takes for ages. The public who eventually get the product sometimes do not realise this. Free time is a must in life so you can relax and not get stressed out. And if you do not take the free time to relax but instead spend it doing something you are starting to do against your will then you get tired fast.

I wish you fun in whatever you decide to do in your now newly discovered free time. Chase women and drink lotsa beer. biggrin_o.gif

    Cheers m8,

  11. We definately need better napalm than mods and addons so far have presented. WP grenades would not be bad either  wink_o.gif

In R1 we won't have that as we will not have planes in that release yet. We are working on the napalm and it's pretty nice, the WP i dunno actually but who knows what our scripting dept. is workin on right now. It's often a surprise to us as well, they dissapear for a couple of weeks into the jungle and come out and say "tada, look what we got" so hey ya never know we might get WP to or even have it already, will certainly suggest that though tounge2.gif

  12. Well I mean in Release 1.

R1 is as basic as it get's. There will be some SF guys in it, some NVA and VC, 2 islands and some Huey's. R1 is pretty much a beta and is all work from scratch and made by us.

R2 has already been worked on a lot (while R1 is being beta/bug tested/fixed internally prior to release) and is a upgrade to R1 on units/vehicles/weapons and the public will not have to wait this long on R2 as they did on R1 and here i have to stop as i am noticing i am giving away far to much info already...  pistols.gif  goodnight.gif     .... crazy_o.gif

  13. Just out of curiosity, the last trailer of the SF firefight, the CAR-15 reload is it not the one from Delta Forc Black Hawk Down. Just wondering. But it looks great cant wait for this.

The model or the sounds you mean?

The model is ours from scratch, the sounds we got from here and there. Dunno exactly where that's for the sound guys to answer. Oooh Sav?

  14. The mainquestion is when are we gonna get our hands on something?

Well...it's an obvious answer but let's say it anyways.

You, the public, will get your hands on the R1 release when we, the mod members, have decided that the R1 version is bug free and we have enough missions made for you to play with.  smile_o.gif

And just to lay it all flat on the table (almost), we are ready for another internal beta round of the mod to yet again find those filthy bugs and upgrade/create missions.
