pigs, best offence and defence in my opinion. Ain't a walking tall machine gun man here. If you do that you will be a lying down and shot up heap of machine gun man!

Watching towards a perfect ambush spot for Charlie...a V shaped valley floor...dare i move on...

There's something spooky about this place. You can almost feel the eyes watching your every move.

Good thing we got some illumination rounds going off over head, or we would see sh## out there! Night time is friggin' Charlie time!

  2. Meh... seems i'm about the only one looking at this thread from the mod. I figured someone else would have answered you by now MATCHY. Everyone is lazy just like me, only they are experts and i am a fng at it lol

    Anyways,

Only updates are that we are still fixing some stuff. Also we are having some trouble with our forums which makes communications a bit annoying between mod makers.

But we ain't dead, ain't gonna be any time soon, we still working on the mod. Just can't be long now...just can't be. Maybe one of the other lazy bums of the mod can give a clearer answer on how long it's gonna take :p

This bum is going to open a beer now :D

  3. Khaos[=-;1724933']What u think' date=' how long it will take to finish this mod?[/quote']

Finish it...euhm never. it will never be finished.

Release some of it..... euhm.... very close  :a:

When some intel documents get released (very soon), the release isn't far away!

Clean them guns. Make them greasy and make them run smooth like clockwork. Time to hunt for Charlie is near :war:

  4. Love it. Btw, will this feature a campaign or several Scenarios...Or both xD?

For the first release there will be several missions. Some larger then others.

As we are low on members and many have RL stuff we have been concentrating mainly on getting everything running ok and get the bugs out. So missions will flow out after the release. Once we got stuff made we wil release it right after. We aim to have releases following up failry quickly after the initial first release, a steady flow of new stuff so to speak. May that be addons or missions or whatever.

How is the performance? Im afraid because your video is very laggy? But anyway one of the best mods EVAR!!!

Yeah the vid is laggy here and there due to fraps with which it has been recorded. But the mod itself is playable. No lag for me. Plenty of good firefights and action to be had without your own reaction time being close to zero due to lag. Nope you get a fair chance of dropping charlie on his nose before he drops you ;) We have different PC machine specs within the mod so we can test performance of the mod with different specs. We aim to it so that the guy with the lowest specs can play it comfortably and enjoy the scenery and firefights. If he can, then the guy with the top notch specs PC will play it no worries.

  6. Any updates guys looking great cant wait

Yeah, we are hectically working to get our stuff out the door. Always something that we find and have to look at again after having looked at it a gazillion times. But we are moving ahead and a release is really close. Don't ask how close, we just dunno. When it's there, you will notice :D

1 question if you don't mind, what units do we have currently? Any vietnam era tanks?

US Army, USMC, US SF, US LRRP, VC, NVA, Shitload of guns, Civ's, Bird's (huey's, cobra's, eggs/loaches), planes, tanks, trucks, statis guns, objects, buildings, Lowlands island (known from our ArmA 1 release) and i believe that's it in a nutshell. So yes, vietnam era tanks like the m-48 we got.

Originally the plan was to have just vc/nva/sf and an island, but hell we just kept going and soon we had lot's more. So we had to stop it a bit and finish up what we had going. So now we finishing up what we had going so we can release it :p

  8. Very nice work, does Warrior X plan to port his Last Days in Vietnam campaign ?

Oh lord! The amount of work for that one! hahaha

Naw sorry m8. I'd love to dig it back up again after so many years but it would simply be a hell job to port it. Would be awesome to see what it would look like in ArmA II instead of OFP that's for sure. Just afraid i couldn't keep my hands of it again and would just keep optimizing it with current stuff and possibilities. Another year of editing just like it took me to make it in the first place lol. Nice to see people still remember that campaign :o

Most likely we will have a new campaign in the future releases of Unsung. (Khe Sanh or some other) Not for the first release as that's to much work for it. As we are still bug tracking/fixing and optimising. But can't promise anything though. So many mission idea's etc ;) So what you will see in first release will be a few new missions along with some ported ones from ArmA 1.

After that we will have a good base from where we can expand with new content etc for the public to get killed in. :D

Remember... stop, drop and roll....errr no scratch that one.... Always keep your head down...yeah that's the one

  9. Nice pics. Those traps can they be placed by script? If so it should be pretty simple to place them randomly for those who wants that :)

Well we have no scripts to place them yet. We have tried it once to have VC/NVA units carry them as sort of a weapon so that players could manually place them just like satchels. But we decided to eventually not do that as it gave a few problems.

The current traps are placed through the editor, so manually by mission makers/editor fiddlers. So i quess once you know the trap object names you could basically call them through a own made script and have them be placed at random. But again, you would most likely have a difficult time spotting them on the ground. I seen it myself. Placed tripwires, couldn't spot them at all as they were just bellow the undergrowth leaves. Only way i noticed them was when the trap got sprung and you hear that deadly "click..BOOM"..dead. ;)

  10. Is there a way to add random booby traps to an area via a module or script? I think that'd be cool, so even the mission maker doesn't know where the traps may be.

Being a mission maker for the mod and having placed a hell of a loooota traps for people to step on/into over the past years, i can say this wouldn't be a bad idea. Except, there is one problem there. With the current vegetation we have, the jungle undergrowth is so thick that manual placement is very nescessary. If we do not do it like that players would not be able to spot the traps at all almost. Although realistic to hardly be able to see tripwires, it would seriously have an impact on play itself. I can see the comments already "I can't see sh#t! I can't spot these traps at all, they invisible" etc etc

Just a small show of how traps can look that are manually placed by me and what happens when you step in one.

Tripwire grenade trap placement somewhere in the jungle:

    arma22010053114261405.th.png

Tripwire grenade trap placement somewhere next to a rice paddy wall:

    arma22010053114295858.th.png

Example of what walking carelessly around the jungle can do to you...and you step on a man sized punji trap (warning! might have a "oh damn that had to hurt" effect hahaha):

    arma22010052622234465.th.png

The guys within the Unsung hate my tricky trap placements so much. That for when we playtest missions...guess who they send on point hahaha And to be honest, i can't figure out many of the times where the hell the traps are untill i actually see them myself or...yeah actually walk into them myself. Every piece of jungle looks like...well the next piece of jungle two blocks over or the last 5 kliks you just humped out there for example hahaha

And here's just two random pics from humpin' along somewhere out there. Destination and location unknown. Out there in the jungle i guess...

    arma22010052920251245.th.png

    arma22010053014372367.th.png

All the stuff seen in above pics is still WIP and getting tested and perfected with every day. As can bee seen from even last two pics, random placement without knowing where the traps are placed can be very difficult in game play eventually because no way to spot them untill it's to late.

  11. Hi,

Progress is slow, but we are stil moving ahead. :)

Small team with lot's of RL stuff to do. peep happens.

If we could just get some more new recruits it would help a lot.

So anybody who would like to help out on some stuff (no beta testers) reply in this thread: Unsung Mod Recruitment thread

You will need to register on the site to actually be able to read that thread and post there. But if you are willing to help you will need to register anyways ;)

    Cheers,

    :)
