Discussion on mission filename format
Variable replied to Phantom Six's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Welcome to my world for the past two years. During the weekend I uploaded all the Arma 3 missions to the server, there were more than 130 of them. It took me about 4 hours to to process them, including removing briefingName. Since I use bulk actions that didn't take long. However, finding out how many players the mission can inhibit and sometimes what was its name was a pain in the arse. For many missions I had to dig in description.ext to find out the max number of players and rename the mission file accordingly. That had to be done manually and took hours. I just don't get why the name of the mission inside the game can't be the file-name? That's the way it was in OFP and admins had a much easier job. I really don't get what are the benefits of having a separate name for the file and a separate name for the mission in-game. -
Discussion on mission filename format
Variable replied to Phantom Six's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Renaming the file will not change the mission display name in the mission selection screen in the game. The in-game display name will be the file's name only if the briefingName field is removed from mission.sqm. On the CiA server we remove the briefingName field and rename the file names to match the desired format (our naming format is very close to the one suggested here). Therefore, mission makers are requested to keep the file name as close as possible to the in-game mission name and include all the information about the mission in the file name (type, number of players, full mission name). This will help greatly server admins to adapt missions names to their desired format. -
Great! a no-respawn mission. Hosted on the CiA coop server. Will provide feedback once played. Thanks eXpo!

Being an explosions lover myself, this should be fun! Uploading to the CiA coop server.

Sympathy for the Devil campaign and Addons

My game completely freezes when moving on to the mission right after you talk with the two officer at your house. Tried with and without the beta with only the required addons. Anyone else getting that? -
Movement still feels like Operation Flashpoint
Variable replied to elaintahra's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
So many COD fans here that have become so used to over accelerated controls and have no understanding how difficult and heavy it is to move when packed with a weapon, magazines and equipment, their minds overly affected by kiddish games so they think how the charachters move in these stupid, 14 year olds market oriented games, is actually reality. corrupted gaming mind at it's best. -

Variable replied to elaintahra's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Your points are true, but I was refferring to this: COD fans, like this fellow here, want arcasidh movement, that has unreal acceleration and reaction. They want that because their experience and minds were shaped by FPS that made everything too easy. Too many hours of respawning-shooting-moving-respawning-shooting-moving makes every game that has uses real (or close to real) movement values feel "sluggish". So my claim is that the problem here is in these stupid games, and not in Arma 3, which is, as stated before, is a combat simulator game. ---------- Post added at 16:24 ---------- Previous post was at 16:22 ---------- One more thing, the claim made here in the opening post is a direct result of this: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/13/call-of-duty-red-orchestra-2-interview/ -

Variable replied to elaintahra's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Pardon me but I believe your expectations are contaminated and shaped by unrealistic and childish FPS games that have unrealistic acceleration for the character. If it wasn't for these foolish games, this topic would not even been opened. -
zeu_A3ServerBriefing ( A Serverside addon)
Variable replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
It is possible in Arma2. Mike made something similar for the CiA Arma 2 coop server. Too bad he's banned from this forum... -
We completed the missions "Rescue" and "Loyalty". Great job bardosy, these missions are great in coop. Especially "loyalty" - The high command in this mission adds a great dimension to the game. I wish there were more missions out there that utilize the HC module. No bugs encountered in these missions except for one: On "Loyalty", the insertion chopper touches the ground momentarily and jumps back up to the sky. I gave the order to disembark and it did the same, but allowing us to jump out when it was low enough. Thanks bardosy!

noooooo! not brutal = good. Seriously now, I think the level of difficulty in your missions is just at the right level :) -

I hear ya' zoog. One of my main activities within the BI forums is to convince mission makers to make no-respawnvive missions, or at least provide a version without. I've been partially successful. If no-respawnvive or only GROUP respawn gameplay is what you look for, you might want to check out our CiA coop nights and this community group. Back to topic, I doubt these Nkenny's missions are balanced without respawn, but it's worth a check. The difficulty in Nkenny's missions is generally not brutal anyway! -

Variable replied to nkenny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
zoog, Nkenny made a non-respawn version and published it on this post. I'm not sure it's balanced now though as we have yet to gather enough players to play it. -
a long awaited update! thanks Phantom. will update shortly on the CiA server.

Community interest in Rearmed for ArmA 3 (integration of A2 and OA content with A3)
Variable replied to OMAC's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
PuFu, mind you, OMAC has given to this community quite a lot already and deserves not to receive such sarcastic comments such as this one. Awesome news! thanks for the headsup keycat! -
Good man Outlawz, updating your pack on the CiA coop server.
-
Will be hosted on the CiA coop server ASAP!
-
Blake, I'm so glad to see you are making missions for Arma 3! Your missions for OFP are the most memorable, no competition there... This one will be definitely hosted on the CiA coop server, once it's up!

[SP, MP] Tactical Withdrawal
Variable replied to OMAC's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - USER MISSIONS
That Russian recon mission really got me down man. problem is there's so much good content to play - Gambit Royale campaign, now Sympathy for the Devil campaign, Arma 3 alpha release, of course three times a week the CiA coop night and so little time to play with family and work. I can't really spend that much time on one crazy difficult mission, and I don't want to cheat my way through it... I'll be reinstalling once the Arma 3 hype settles though to play your mission! -
