Yup, thats a bug in bios/drivers (of course its silent, because fan works @ 22% all the time), cooler does its job just fine, but you have to set fan RPM to 35-40%. Fan fix: Link Yeah, fan works @ 22-23% all the time, thats just too low, like ~70°C in Idle. But with fan fix you can make several profiles. I have fan @35 % all the time, Idle is about  52°C. Im waiting for T-Rad2  to be ready, so I can replace my stock cooler, as I always do with new card.

You probably deleted your ethernet drivers, should be fine once you reinstall nforce4 pack.

Oh, just to get things clear, you have: K8N Neo4 ATI HD4870 Right? If so, 1. uninstall all Nvidia drivers (display and chipset) 2. with DriverSweeper remove leftovers from your system Link 3. install chipset drivers (nForce4 6.86) 4. install latest ATI drivers 8.7

Afaik, K8N Neo4 has nForce4 Ultra chipset, so go to Nvidia drivers page and download nForce4/500 series drivers (Version: 6.86). Did you accidentally deleted Nvidia chipset drivers along with vga ones?

I sold my old 8800GTS 320Mb and bought ATI HD4870. It was my best buy in a very long time (since ATI 1950Pro AGP). I'm very happy with performance of this card, especially in OpenGL games like IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 (had huge stuttering problems with 8800GTS). There is a little "bug" in Bios/Drivers, fan RPM is low so card gets hot, but "fix" is out there. I changed RPM to 30% (fan is still silent) and now is about 48°C in Idle. Fair prices. You should go with 9800GTX if that's the case. Uff, I can't believe it, 9800GTX BE only 1500kn (~2000 Sek) ?!!.... here is about 2150kn (~2900 Sek) Now, you do understand why I recommended 8800GTS 512, because it's big difference in money here. But, that's not situation where Placebo lives, so go for it.

Youre a bit out of date my friend. When ATI launched their new cards, nVidia slashed the price of the 9800GTX. Its now around about €20 more expensive than the 8800GTS. Theyre also releasing a 9800GTX+ which is faster and more energy efficient than the normal card soon. Nah, here is that kind of situation atm, 8800GTS 512=1200kn and 9800GTX=1800kn So for 4-5 % better performance and much more money (here,Croatia) I would rather go with 8800GTS 512 (barely slower, less warmer, and somehow better @ same speeds). Ehh, I should ask about prices where Placebo lives

I would rather go with 8800GTS 512MB. 9800GTX is about 5% faster @ stock speeds, but costs half of 8800GTS 512 more. So, 9800GTX is just 8800 G92 in different packaging, as I would say Nvidia's marketing trick. You could backup whole C: partition with Acronis True Image, then reinstall OS to see if thats the problem, if not just restore your partition back. Oh btw, did u try to put new firmware: U can download it here: Firmware What kind of media/brand do u use?
