Nice work indeed... I guess that's no way to get it working with linux?

    Project Reality Development

Don't compare it with ACE2... PR is not only an Addon but a new Gamemode... Dr_Eyeball tried to bring the "Project Reality" feeling to ArmA with "Devastation", but now the original is back... Hell, there they go...! :D

    Squad XML issues

Besides Xeno's comment: Generally, try to avoid XML entities such as the "/" in the [RBC]L/Cpl Deathblades[HQ] name tag. In this case try "⁄" instead of "/", cause otherwise the XML parsers will read a part of a XML tag, such as </whatever>, which will "disturb" the structure of the DOM. Plz see here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/squad.xml and for a list of xml entities here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_XML_and_HTML_character_entity_references
  4. Although most people owning a Linux server are assuming that there will be a ArmA2 dedicated server version for Linux someday, i think i would be a nice motivation to the friendly people of BIS to know how many members of the community are hoping exactly... So, if you're owning a Linux dedicated server, or would like to own a Linux based ArmA2 dedicated server, and you're hoping for a Linux version of the dedicated ArmA2 server than just: Give a reply with just "/signed" in it, and vote in the poll To all Trolls and Flamers: NO and hands OFF... /signed
  5. Thanks to BIS and everyone who signed this thread and voted... @Moderator, plz close...Thx
  6. Patch 1.4 released... no linux server in sight...

    Squad XML help

@ ZA Sgt.Hammer Do not use any characters beside A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and space in the nick-attribute inside the squad-element (see Wiki page, Section 3, lit. 2 ). This may lead to strange behaviour e.g. the information from your member-block is displayed but the information from the squad-block is not. @RomanLord A possible reason might be that your webhoster only allows "known" MIME types, such html, zip, etc. and paa just isn't on that list... As long as TexView can show it, the paa itself is correct...
  8. Well, Windows Server for V 1.03 released... No Linux dedicated server in sight...

    Squad.xml

Hm, you cited the example of the wiki page. Just follow the steps there...

    Squad.xml info.

I'm sorry thegunnysgt, but thats not correct. There are so called Entities which represent specific chars. In that case: "<" = "<" ">" = "gt;" Example: You like to write <name>foo>foo2</name> then just type: <name>foo>foo2</name>

    Squad.xml squad problem...

Well, the name of your profile has to be the same than the "nick". In your case your profile name is: "[DM]Cptkanito" but your nick in the squad.xml is "[DM]Cptkanito " <- Blank at the end...
  12. Very nice! I hoped that someone will bring some PR feeling to ArmA2. Keep going...

    Linux: Wine + ArmA2Server.exe

I'm sorry to say that i failed to get "Arma2server.exe" working under Linux using Wine. My system is an Ubuntu "Hardy 8.04, Server Ed." and i tried the last stable Wine (1.01) and the newest developer branch (1.1.24). I added two necessary DLL's (OpenAL32.dll, X3DAudio1_5.dll) to the "windows/system" folder within ".wine" and used XMing and Putty to display the Ubuntu X-server on my Vista desktop. After starting "Arma2server.exe" with "wine ArmA2Server.exe -config=server.cfg -port=2302 -netlog" i got the "progress" window and later the "server-message" window saying "Dedicated host created". Under Wine 1.01 the application than freezes (Termination with CTRL-C still possible), with Wine 1.1.24 a "Program Error" window pops up, saying In the linux terminal window there is the following Wine ouput: Wine (1.01) ALSA lib ../../../src/seq/seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: Permission denied fixme:event:wait_for_withdrawn_state window 0x10030/c00005 wait timed out fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:winsock:WSAIoctl unsupported WS_IOCTL cmd (9800000c) fixme:dbghelp:MiniDumpWriteDump NIY MiniDumpWithDataSegs wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x40caad (thread 0009), starting debugger... fixme:event:wait_for_withdrawn_state window 0x20030/1000005 wait timed out Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code (0x0040caad). Squad.xml squad problem...

Not really, because my logo-picture isn't working either. I tried also TexView2 to convert the original PNG to PAA but without success. I read in other threads in this forum that some people have troubles too, others work with their ArmA(1) logos and squad.xml without problems. It would be nice to have one of their logos as a sample...

    Linux: Wine + ArmA2Server.exe

I'm about to try it, but like to test it on a local server installation first. I don't like to upload 8.8 GB first (or 7.3 GB zipped) before i'm not absolutely sure it will work afterwards... My target OS will be an Ubuntu 9.04 (Server Ed.) on an Intel i7 920 Quad, 8 GB Ram. I'll give a feedback till the next weekend and would be interested in your install details/experiences...

    Linux dedicated

Right! And who wants to pay for an OS licence, just to play a game....? Nobody! But wait...., we all do! BTT: I'm hoping for a dedicated linux server too!

    Squad.xml squad problem...

It would be helpful if you'll show the content of your xml file... Normally just one "squad.xml" is needed for the same clan/usergroup, as you can add members to a existing "squad.xml". See also the BIS-Wiki here...
