    Smoke On [Movie]

Its a video made completely from a videogame. Downloading the full video now. If they are anything like the Virtual Blue Angels it will be a 50-minute mind-blowing experience. These guys have too much time on their hands  Not completly true, we as machinima movie makers can and do use what ever means available to make the movie believable and watchable. Here is a couple of others to watch to save farther explanation .. This made using the BF2 engine ..  Top Gear Parody This using the BF2142 engine .. 2142 This is a flight sim again, telling a true story from WW11 .. Eagle Day (Alder Tag)

    Smoke On [Movie]

Smoke On .. Virtual Thunderbirds You guys need to see this blockbuster of a movie. It's a movie that needs to be seen. November 9th, 2006 marks another first in machinima history. To my knowledge, it’s the first time that a machinima production has been shown on a 40 by 70 foot movie screen at a 400 seat theatre. The event took place in Las Vegas. The movie is called 'Smoke On'. It's a 50 minute demonstration of online formation flying by The Virtual Thunderbirds using a modded Lock On: Modern Air Combat flight simulator game. The premiere was a private screening with about 50 friends, family, former members of the Virtual Thunderbirds, an Honorary Thunderbird, as well as a former pilot of the actual USAF Thunderbird Team in attendance. The Virtual Thunderbirds began in the spring of 2004 with a group of flight simulator enthusiasts, and it has since evolved into what it is today. Many of the pilots selected for the demo team are real world aviators with thousands of hours of jet experience, both military and civilian and they range in ages from 23 to 52 Kris “Lawndart†Langdell created this incredible video showcasing The Virtual Thunderbirds. Kris is also a member of the The Virtual Thunderbirds and in real life, he is a professional pilot, flying the Embraer 145 for Mesa Airlines. The movie is 1.2 gigs in size and will be available in 4 parts. The movie contains essentially an entire High Show (about 38 manoeuvres) from multiple angles and cameras and additionally; start-ups, taxing, a long intro sequence and approx 8 minutes of extras after the flying portion of the show is over. Total time: 49 minutes and 54 seconds (in its current format). How this team is able to perform such precision online formation flying is simply amazing. I cannot begin to imagine the skill level and the many hours of practice required to fly with this type to precision. Normally in machinima movies, the creator of the movie is the sole star, characters are simply there as part of the story line. Smoke On is unique, in that both the characters and movie creator are the stars of the show. You won't be able to mention one without the other. From what I've seen on the trailer and from people who have seen it, this movie is going to blow your socks off. I'm sure we will be seeing this movie next year at the 2007 Machinima Film Festival. I know, I’ll be burning my copy to DVD and watching it on my own big screen. You can watch the trailer or download the full movie here It is just over a gig in size, but don't let that scare you, it is worth the download. Download from here .. Smoke On Sneak peek here .. I love all kinds of music, this track comes from the Movie "O Brother, Where Art Thou" staring George Cluny. This movie surprised me, not only was I taken aback by Georges acting skills but the music with-in it was fantastic. The Soggy Bottom Boys sang this in the movie. Try to find a copy somehow.......... its worth viewing. I needed something lighthearted and humourous for the wee movie and well........... it fitted the bill. By no means Oscar winning material, but hey we all cant be Steven Spelberg eh! he would be out of a job. Long vid here ..4 mins http://video.google.ca/videopl....l=en-CA Short vid here..1.24 mins http://video.google.ca/videopl....l=en-CA The short vid music happens to be the late and great Alex Harvey (SAHB) and the intro to Faith Healer. I'm glad you liked the track btw.

I used to be into "OFP cinematography" very much and I can confirm that this game engine has a lot of potential in the filming area through scripting, the engine gives you almost full command over any units' movements, gestures most distinctive is the sheer scope: you can film on a massive scale, entire troop movements, battle preparations, combined arms activities, without being limited to a first-person perspective there is also a downside to this engine's scope: some obvious things like camfollow or followcam are very complicated to achieve, and in that case stuttering is hard to avoid  (it has been confirmed that the camera commands and the streaming of terrain will be improved and expanded in ArmA, so I won't elaborate on that) thanks for drawing my attention to your group, I really enjoyed watching the videos. check out the OFP videography thread pinned in the OFP general forum for some Hey Redface thanks for the kind comments about our site, we have only been up since 1st Sep this year and allready we have 55 good movie makers......... or should I say 54 and me. I'm like the member in your video section who makes movies with barrels. Only my movie had a message to E.A. Games asking them to get their finger out to deliver the long awaited 1.4 patch. Long vid here ..4 mins http://video.google.ca/videopl....l=en-CA Short vid here..1.24 mins http://video.google.ca/videopl....l=en-CA I tried to view your video however nothing happend, if you could let me have your direct link so I can view but, what would be really cool ......... would be if you could sign up at GT www.GamerZtheatre.com and post it there. I am sure our members would like to see your work. In fact one of the members steered me to you to post this very thread. So get your butt back in and post your vid...........   and say hi to the fellas. TFOGas

The way I see it there is no differance between a battle recorder and an after action tool. Both tools would allow clans, squads and movie makers to reveiw and record the past action. Therfor giving the movie makers the option of staging, modding sets and making there movies. The machinima side of gaming is growing rapidly, and a few of the gamers are now recognized as fine producers, StRuPiE and Little-Donkey have produced one of the best story lines and movies using the Battlefield Veitnam engine. Snoken has given us many a chuckle in BF2 with his Mine 1 & 2. These movies when well produced can bring more new gamers to a game than is sometime given credit. <TFO>Gas

Thats good to know, any idea what that script-engine can do? IE does it have a rewind, multi cam angles or any other feature we can look forward too. Details please........and thankyou. We all use fraps with-in the group. The P.o.E footage was shot by the modders themselves, I simply recut them (2 teasers) and rendered them with my own music. Watch Quarintine please as I feel the this group of movie makers have excelled themselves in producing a classic BF2 movie. <TFO>Gas
