    Fast Rope & Woodland Camo?

That's on the cover of the box, what he is talking about is the inlet on the inside (only in the US version's case). It's one of the early pictures of ArmA with soldiers in Woodland BDU and a few fast roping from a blackhawk.

    ArmA is just ... disappointing

Eugh... That is the reason I stopped posting on here for so long. All constructive criticism threads on this forum lead to a flame war... ArmA has lots of potential, but that's really only with the modders and such doing their bit. I wouldn't have minded if BIS put the release on hold until they sorted out the game's problems, but obviously the publishers were pushing them to release it. Ah well, we still have a game that will likely last us for years to come. As I tell myself, ArmA is mainly a fill-in-the-gap game for Game 2.

    ArmA is just ... disappointing

Now, I'm one of those no-lifers (just kidding ) who played OFP from the very beginning. Those were awesome times. Now, 7-ish years later and ArmA has been released. Before that, there was huge hype over the game in the community, and the game turned out to disappoint most. Much like Spider-Man 3 eh? For me, I was extremely happy when I first got ArmA. But I became worried as the complaints came flooding in. Now, after a couple months of playing the game I am thoroughly disappointed, mainly because I just don't find the game enjoyable. I don't know why, maybe it's the terrible performance (Normal preset at 1024x768 on an exceeding-minimum-specifications computer at ~20FPS), bugs, bad SP campaign, etc. But I just can't find it in me to enjoy it. Really, the only reason I continue to play ArmA is due to the community. If the community didn't go on to ArmA and stayed with OFP, I would be overjoyed. Sadly, that is not the case. ArmA was advertised as a finished game, which nowadays (you should all know this before buying a game) means nothing. Take EA's games for example, BF2142 has had numerous patches to fix it and still it's not working properly (already uninstalled and gave away "it" for free). However, with the terrible performance being my main issue, I just don't enjoy playing it as, well, I can't. Some of you may be happy with 20 FPS, but when I play other games (I know, not at the same scale as ArmA) I get much a much higher FPS on average with all settings at maximum. I would have been pleased if BIS released ArmA looking like OFP:E back then, as long as I had the engine improvements, I couldn't care less about the graphics. OFP:E graphics would mean low-system requirements while still looking better than OFP. However, BIS weren't stupid and the knew that you needed good graphics in order for the game to sell. As soon as ArmA is patched to as bugfree as possible, optimized as much as possible and all the kiddies playing MP at the moment are gone, I have a feeling I'll enjoy ArmA much more. Until then, it's just sitting on my hard drive, and opened rarely.

    Patch 1.08

The crouching, prone and stand up movement keys were so easy to master in OFP. I remember loading up the ArmA demo for the first time (the one just before the 505 release) and being shocked at how they changed. If BIS did revert them back to OFP's however, that'd make them have to change their leaning controls as Q in ArmA leans left and E leans right... Performance upgrades/fixes are mandatory in my opinion. ArmA gives me terrible performance on my exceeding-minimum-specifications computer. I couldn't care less if they added any new vehicles and stuff, I would only care if the patch fixed performance and bugs. I was hoping for this in v1.07b, but all I got was new SF helmets and an A-10...

    Advanced Combat Element

Judging by the awesome features of ACE that Dslyexci mentioned in his TTP manual, I'm really looking forward to this mod. WGL for OFP was a whole new game, pretty much creating the realistic atmosphere that I think BIS were trying to accomplish in the first place. Let's just pray that ACE lives up to/surpasses it's predecessor.

    10-Digit Game Id's?

I remember it being discussed a while ago, people saying that players with 10+ digit IDs were using illegal copies and whatnot. However, unless I missed something, BIS have maybe changed this now. We all don't want (I think) people with legitimate copies being banned just because of their ID.

    Patch 1.08

I voted for performance issues as v1.05+ runs twice as well as v1.07b for me.

    Public Beta Patch 1.07.5154

God I wish I was you guys getting better performance... I installed v1.07b hoping for a nice surprise. Loaded the game and tested... Got 15 FPS in Ortego. What the? So I turned all of my settings to "Low" and turned grass off, 20 FPS... Then went to the Toshiba website, downloaded and installed all of the latest drivers for my laptop, and reloaded the game. No difference. Went into v1.05+ and placed myself in Ortego. 30 FPS on my custom settings and 35 FPS on "Low" settings... I think I shall stick to v1.05+ for the time being... My specs: nVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256MB Intel Duo Centrino T2500 2.00GHz (2 CPUs) 2048MB RAM Toshiba Qosmio G30, latest drivers and all.

So what's up with this Strange Meeting mission..

Odd... Well, you don't make sure your squad dies as it makes it easier to have them later on. However, they all die when you come to Morton. Also, the truck is supposed to get destroyed when you first get out and head towards the farm. That's why you have to, as a result, continue on foot through the forest and to the evac. point... Don't know why that happened to you, only reason I can think of is a mission bug. Try it again and see if the scenario changes.

    CSLA out of memory error

Well, as the error states, your computer probably doesn't have enough memory for CSLA 2 to work. I.E. you have a bit too many files on your computer. Try deleting a couple of programs you never use and what-not and see if that frees up some space and fixes the problem.

    Help im going mad

Maybe try OFPEC's tutorial page. I'm pretty sure they've got one there, heck, they have a tutorial for everything.

Hyk modern u.s. infantry pack released

Wow, awsome work HYK. OFP shall never die! P.S. What animation pack is that you're using on the 5th picture? (The one with the winter units) As I don't recognise that jogging animation.

    Sound problems

Ok, so what my problem is, is that even after searching these forums and found no method that worked, I have decided to post my exact problem here. When I play OFP and I run down a lot of trees or something of that sort in a tank, the sound eventually goes staticy and I can't hear anything. Thus, I have to turn down my volume which causes problems with TS. Also, when a tank or AA APC such as the Vulcan or Shilka fire, the sound drowns out and goes into "Matrix-Style" slowness. It also happens with the Mi24's cannon fire. So please, if you have any ideas, or when searching I didn't find a topic about this same problem, tell me and/or link me there. Thanks. Your favorate OFP mood/situation?

Ironic that you're complaining about spam in this thread, when that "BI HQ Under Attack!" thread was spam itself, isn't it?

    The so-called "grown up" community

I don't honestly care whether someone likes the BF series games or OFP and ArmA. People have a right to their opinion, and we have to respect that. The modern age has brought down-right amazing graphics into our games, thus creating games that are, at times, arcadish and un-realistic. But, there are the few that aren't as devoted to graphics as they are devoted to gameplay instead. ArmA has great graphics, and the gameplay is just as good. I say, let the BF series players play BF games and let the OFP players play OFP and ArmA. I must admit, I hate all the flaming that goes on in these forums (it's rapidly increased lately) but as mentioned before, it's human nature to express your opinion as I am now. As for the ArmA websites that are more for BF2 than they are for ArmA, that's exactly the point I'm making. It's not bad/wrong to have an interest or a dislike for a game. What is wrong, is to flame it's community members. Calling them young kids, and so called "n00bs" (God, I hate that word). In the end, let people do what they wan't. It's their decision, let them live with the consequences and good things that come from making it. Exactly the same with life.

    Under fire situations

Unless they're set to "careless". What happens then, is they just watch the enemy as they shoot them.

    CWC RedHammer: Return Chopper

Solution = Don't play Redhammer. Seriously though, it is a glitch with v1.96. BIS overlooked the fact that some of it's missions may not work with v1.96 and thus you get all these weird noises and very weird glitches. I also got this problem, along with a few others while playing with Redhammer. In the cutscene where Dmitri and the medic stole the Mi17 and are taking off, but get shot down, when they're hit, the voices become all weird and fast, and the chopper doesn't even look like it's flying.

    Arma around the world

Seems you're all much more luckier than I am. I live in the Middle-East in a place no one I know has ever heard about, called "Qatar". (If you're wondering where it is, look at a map, look at "Saudi Arabia" and look east of it. There's a little sliver (Peninsula) sticking out of it. That's Qatar. ) And before you all think I'm Arab, I'm not. Born in Canada, lived there 6 years and then moved here. And no, I'm not 6. I've lived here for 7 more years. So I'm 13. After all that, LoL, I'm pretty much screwed for getting ArmA as soon as it comes out...

It is definately not just you. Most topics in this forum seem to lead to flame wars and such now adays... *EDIT* I also agree that this thread should be closed before it gets too far out of hand and people start receiving PRs.
