Just wondering, were you thinking of making this for ArmA instead of OFP? The new engine'sd make things LOADS easier and look LOADS better and, basically, BE LOADS better. Just a subtle hint Very, very good-sounding, promise me you'll see it through to a release
-
Is it New Zealand?
-
I hope so - If it will, then I'll definately get one imported from Germany (if the release date is radically different for Germany and Australia)
-
So, what to do while we're waiting? I'm mainly listening to Weird Al songs till I can memorize them all
-
I doubt that objects (cars, building etc) will get bullet holes in them. I don't think that the engine is capable of it without a modder's loving touch.

Did you know that BF2 is a multiplayer game? Wow, you really pay attention to things.
-
First, I'm going to play the campaign and relish in its goodentosity - then blow shit up.
-
Yeah, the one in his sig is... but I think it might be old. Unless I'm totally mistaken, in which case the answer was there all along.

Ok, who will accept cashier check orders from the US and ship me about 10 boxes of ArmA on Dec 1st? *Ahem*. Seriously. Yeah, could you do that to me in Australia, too? Actually, since there's a BIS office here, shouldn't we get an idea of release date soon?

Game 2

I'm thinking it's going to be like Soldiers: HoWWII, but on a larger scale, and not so micro-micro-micro-managmentish. Anyone who's played Soldiers will know what I'm talking about with micro-micro-micro-management. Maybe like DoD:S the RTS =D

I've been looking around a bit, and found out that the ArmA E3 build demo uses StarForce copy protection... and that made me worried. Is it not true that there are umpteen rallies against StarForce being used in ArmA? Is it not true that even the Starforce programming team itself is urging developers and publishers not to use StarForce? Who else is crossing every possible crossable-thing on, in and around their body that BIS won't stoop to the primitive level of StarForce? STARFORCE: NOTE: Yes, I looked around the forums before posting this and (z0mg! nothing came up exclusively about StarForce in ArmA.

I was just watching that "15 minutes with ArmA" movie, and started wondering: Will the movement to stopping while on foot stay instant? I actually do hope it does, because it would make movement on foot much easier, and less of a task. But, what will happen with it? (I also did try to look around for an answer before posting this)

Woah, settle down, tiger.

Pfft. No-one wants your opinion.

w00t, I found it! Now, to log in as... hold on a minute? What's this? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SPELL HIS NAME. Gah. Oh, and do caps, spaces and "the"s matter? EDIT: Oh, screw this, could someone PM me the login and password? I'm getting a bit peeved with this "technology" thing.

Who cares, anyway? A compass just needs to tell you which way you're facing. This compass is easily readable, funky and does just that. If you want a TOTALLY realistic one, then join the army. They have plenty there.

Yeah, mouse lag has been fixed.

All those people who say "you just need more practice", I've been playing OFP for several years now, and I still sometimes overshoot a building and get blown to bits by the tank waiting around the corner. The soldier you're playing as would have plenty of experience moving around (he's been doing it his whole life, people), and instant stopping would reflect this. Yes, he's got a heavy pack on, but this is a GAME, people. Not VBS. You want VBS? Go buy VBS. Or, as previously mentioned, join the army. Games are fun. Being blown to bits because your character walks like a demented chicken without a head is not. EDIT: And the chicken's drunk, too. ANOTHER EDIT: He'd have experience moving around with a heavy pack, as well.

There's got to be a balance between "realism" (although it doesn't take me 1 or 2 metres to stop walking) and gameplay. Remember, ArmA is a game. If you want a totally realistic shooter, join the army. It's SO much easier to move around (especially in urban environments, where ArmA seems to have most of the action) in a game like CoD2 than OFP, simply because it doesn't feel like you're driving a train. Just because ArmA is a simulation, doesn't mean that it can't have some "poetic license" (although that probably isn't the best phrase to use, but you know what I mean). I think, yes, maybe there should be a VERY VERY VERY TINY stopping bit, but emphasis on VERY VERY VERY TINY, because it's hell (yes, even after pressing F) to move around in cities in OFP. I hope that the instant stopping will stay in ArmA. In fact, there could be an animation for the person's arms moving to and from the sprint, but the lower part of the body being instant, so it would be a balance between feeling natural, and being easy to move around.
-
Yeah, in the old OFP, it's quite difficult to get around with the (however small) "stopping" time, especially in urban environments. It's probably more realistic to have instant stopping, because, in real life, you only take the amount of steps necessary to get from A to B, but with "stopping time", it's really easy to overshoot, and it makes walking seem like driving a vehicle, only harder.

Or maybe we should call it FUQ (Frequently Unanswered Questions) (Say FUQ out loud, and it sounds a bit rude... ) How powerful would a PC have to be to run a battle like the bit in the new tech demo with the ton of soldiers and the tanks coming over the hill (that bit reminded me of CoD) without too much lag?
-
I'm pissed off with BF2. That new "expansion" thing doesn't look great, costs a small fortune (for me [i'm 14 w00t poorness]) and probably takes a million years to download, yet EVERY GODDAMN AUS SERVER (and I mean EVERY) USES IT!!!1!11!! w00t, subject change Any BF2 players will know what I'm talking about. Anyone else, be glad you don't have to be angry at something else.

WHY THE HELL IS EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FIXED CROSSHAIR?!?! I've gotta say that the 'Floaty McGoaty' was one of the worst things about OFP. My brother wouldn't even play the damn game because of it. Brothers aside, I think that it's a good idea to have the fixed crosshair. Has anyone here ever played CS:S or DOD:S? Did you hate it because in 'reality' there isn't a crosshair stuck in the middle of your view? No, no, much rather there's a floaty one! IT DOESN'T MATTER, PEOPLE. There's this thing going around these days called FUN. Maybe it'll be possible to hit a bee at 500 meters without looking down the sights, but that is FUN! Okay, so if you don't want to be 'Killy McGee', but would rather have a realistic shooter, go ahead and turn the 'Floaty McGoaty' on. See if I care. But when I'm puttin' a cap in yo' ass from 500 meters with an AK-47, and you're having trouble turning around, don't come crying to yo momma about me being a cheater! And that's my two cents.
