OK...you want a decent update. This was posted by me in the OFPEC forums in response to someone's dissapointment in the time taken to release our MH-60s. ===== @FutureHornet Do not dispair! This has taken sometime (as all our projects have) but it will be worth the wait. We started out simply modifying BIS' UH-60 model to make it a Mh-60. We soon realised that although this was acceptable, we wanted better. We wanted accurate....we wanted the best UH-60 available for OFP. SelectThis then set about modelling a brand new UH-60 base model for us....from the GROUND UP! It is quite a complex beast to model but the results are oh so worth it. The BIS UH60 was too small, ours is larger and closer to scale, we have some AMAZING cockpit textures and models that mimic the real thing (I'm not revealing the types of UH60s at this stage). The HIRSS vents on the engines were poorly modeled (although I'm sure on purpose to save polys for the early version engine pre-Resistance). More bumps and lumps have been modeled (such as the mounts for the ESSS "wings" that can be attached to the helo). Landing gear has been more accurately modelled. Ebud is texturing these at the moment (his first vehicle I believe) and he is doing some outstanding work....simply breathtaking the amount of detail put into these textures. Trust me on this, this UH-60 WILL set the standard for H-60s in OFP. It will surpass the BIS model by leaps and abounds. The wait IS worth it. And once combined with our new SOAR pilots you will be very pleased. And the plus is...it really aint that far away from completion...we are closer than you probably expect. Although it appears all our energies are on the SEALS this is simply not true...perhaps to our detriment we focus on more than 1 project at any given time. I can count about 5-6 we have in development right now. ===== And a teaser for the level of detail in modeling and textures is here:

3 words.....eXtensible Markup Language. Make it an XML file so any site can reference it...it would also be more powerful than just an HTML file...I:m sure Snypir would be with me on this. This way, all you ever need to modify is one textfile and everyone who references the XML file will be updated.

I cant get FRAPS working with my Voodoo5 card. Anyone using FRAPS with Voodoo cards?

You obviously don't know many U.S. Marines.  They are like airborne soldiers (paratroopers) in that they believe they are the best and will happily kick your ass if you disagree.  That's not a bad thing though because they're good and aggressive soldiers.  I'm also ex-U.S. military, and while I don't agree with all my country's foreign policies (like the whole Iraq mess) we do alot of peacekeeping where nobody else has the balls to do anything about it (example Yugoslavia which I know Russians were not happy about).  I know also that many in the Russian military are dumb-founded that U.S. forces did not get slaughtered assaulting Baghdad using tactics that got Russian forces massacred during the last assault on Grozny in Chechnya. By this I mean the initial assault where large armored columns entering the Grozny were ambushed and destroyed.  The similar armored assaults deep into Baghdad were extremely daring but were also highly successful.  Alot of that is due not only to better U.S. armored vehicles, but also due to extremely good training and professionalism on the part of our armed forces.  They are not conscripts, rather they are volunteers and treat soldiering as a  serious profession just as doctors and lawyers are experts in their professions.  Really few people who have not been in or worked and trained with the U.S. military, realize or understand how many skills they have.  A typical Marine or Army infantry squad is like a well oiled-machine that is a masterpiece of  military human engineering and a terrifying thing to behold when put into action.  They know almost every trick in the book when it comes to fieldcraft and tactics... but the real key is the creativity that company and platoon leaders are allowed to display in order to counter new situations they had not been prepared for.   Our military has every right to be very proud of their abilities and skills.  The proof is in the immediate results of our more recent military exploits.  Unfortunately the long term results are often not good due to poor diplomacy, poor planning, and poor foreign policy on the part of our politicians.  But your're probably right... it's a discussion best left for PM's. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD> Miles...I've always appreciated your mature and balanced insights on these forums.

Guys...this addon looks VERY promising and the attention to detail is very impressive so far. Just some words of advice from a veteran addon maker. Take your time and get ti right....don't give in to the pressure from the community. Take your time and make it an addon that you can be proud of: bug free, detailed, functional and one that sets the new standard for all c130s Good luck!! Looking forward to seeing the results. As Vixer said, I'd love to see our soon to be released MH-60 refueling behind this bird :-) Please let me know if BAS can help in anyway.

If I'm not mistaken it looks like that helo is hauling an USN A-4 aggressor. Probably from the days when Top Gun was at Miramar. Nice pic....but in fact, as it was a dissimilar air combat trainer it would have been as much use to you as the F-15C was...he he he. Little known fact: Did you know that the Marines once operated the F-16?

Then you should be able to fastrope into school. Excuse ignored! Tough love....glad she's not my Mom

Then we'll watch your Little Birdies fly south! Respect the Littlebirds Avon...respect the Littlebirds. They will always have that special little place in heart as the first addons from BAS. I still love these little fellas...although I must admit.....if I ever meet a Havoc in MP I'll be running faster than an old man with a bran muffin and pack of laxatives in his stomach.

RHS Team....execellent...excellent work...can't wait to see some of these babies released...especially the Havoc. Great work and keep it up!

I remember reading somewhere that Ondrej is a huge flightsim fan. I would surprised if they don't raise the level of the physics engine for helo and aircraft. In helo the ability to jink and turn without loosing enormous amounts of airspeed would be a good start. Also perhaps some separate classes for helos. Light observation helo, attack helo, transport/heavy helo, gunship, etc. All with different handling characteristics.

What about a SWAT 2 type control system as well....where you could for example, press a Function key for the player, press a key for like "Breach door", put your crosshair on door and click. I liked the way how in SWAT3 they used the crosshairs of the gun to direct actions. After directing this action you could default to a hand signal that gets played as well....so in MP somone would understand. I think handsignals have lots of value in MP IF..and only IF...they can be accessed quickly and convey more info than typing in a radio command. For example pressing Shift-H for a hold command. Shift-E for enemy sighted. Shift L for flank left. Shift A for advacne, Shift C for cover me as I advance....etc. Perhaps if the commader could easily enter a Stealth mode vs. normal mode. Normal mode is voices as suggested before. Stealth mode is only hand signals.

Since we asked the Iraqi Information Minister to join our team as official spokes person and public affairs dude....you never know what we are going to announce. Or not announce. "BAS has never made Littlebirds..in fact...nowhere in OFP can you find Littlebirds. Allah will roast the stomachs and eat them of those who claim BAS has ever made addons." -Iraqi Information Minister on behalf of BAS.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but it would be nice to be able label certain lights as an Infra Red (IR) class meaning they can only be seen with NV goggles and invisible to the naked eye. Most military strobe lights come with an IR filter (like the strobe thrown on the roof in BH Down) that make the strobes invisible to the eye but highly visible to NV equipment. In addition, the AN/PEQ on the M4s have a combination laser/IR marker for night ops with NV googles. Basically some facility to tag lights as IR only would be color. In fact better NV capabilities in general would be nice...for example...objects the glow white if they are warm....as opposed to just a green filter over the screen. The ability to model our own NV goggles would be nice as well. Thanks for considering these suggestion BIS :-)
