Badlands : what's left to do?
Tozzifan replied to Tozzifan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
!? are you meaning the the HQ vehicle should appear in the westernmost village? (the latest liberated of the row) ... in that case, the orange marker over the easternmost village is distracting -
hi, can a range to targets be estimated on map? thanks
-
Hi, I've just taken back the first two villages and started the construction of weapon facilities --------------------spoilers-------------------------- I've accepted the task of protecting the people of a little village nearby from a local warlord, yet no one is coming into the village; exploring beyond the nearby hill there are (stopped) two APCs, a technical, and soldiers: maybe those are the nasty guys I have to take down, but my team of four is a little downsized for that opponent, so I thought it was better to press on for the mainland liberation task and wait for the base to release more weaponry will I risk to incur in any script issues, by postponing the village protection task? or did I simply miss some story activation checkpoint into that village? (I've already talked to villagers) thanks

Logistics uncertainties ( Badlands and beyond )
Tozzifan posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Hi, although having lack of time available, I've searched the forums and read the manual, looking for tips to progress further beyond the recapture of the first village in this episode, with ... lack of results, so please forgive me for asking again I've checked the options near the main bunker: to buy units to rearm repair heal refuel to consult city menu I've checked the options near HQ unit: to unlock the unit (???) to build a base to build a defense what I need (as well as other "threaders" whose problems are similar to mine) is obviously to rearm and .... get an inflatable couple of Longbows :D (it looks like APCs are not sensible to offenses) at the main bunker, except for consuming money, nothing seems to happen: - buying does not provide anything (what there is to buy at an empty bunker?) - I don't know how to use city menu (how to better place forces) at the HQ truck, after building a base, there appear two (rearm?) trucks that keep going from and to the village (halting for ten seconds from time to time) .... in the end, except (BTW) for espressing perplexity about making money while killing bogeys (is this Call of Duty multiplayer?), I still haven't figured out how to exploit these resources and progress further on thanks for directions -
hi, my arma2 experience tells me that to hit a human target is looks like more a matter of trial and error than precision: either with sniper mils dotted optics, or with red dot optics, unless the target is near and filling the optics' field of view, there is to guesstimate the aim yet maybe I am missing some simple digits: the optics' zeroed range for every weapon anyone knowing that? thanks
-
I know people from (italian) military telling that ACOG too is basically zeroed to 100yds (as a matter of fact, in Armas' close combat I had hard times, having to estimate where tu put the red aimingpoint with Cooper's standard weapon)
-
I totally agree about the addon, that would be a step towards the real thing thanks for the link (I'd be curious whether IRL soldiers predominantly use M16/AK weapons zeroed to 300; AFAIK from real professionals, I thought that zero was at 100, being most of firefights inside that range...) time is what I don't have, I'm so grateful for this forum

Frederf, on my UK release paper manual I have nothing, similar to what you quoted, on page 33 (I've scrolled it lenghtwise three times ... , I did not find a similar table ... AFAIK I don't have cataracts :) ... yet), and I don't have pdf or similar documents in Arma2 folder or in dvd as well do we have the same manual? are there other contents elsewhere? ---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:47 PM ---------- another "annoying" Arma2 bug: we need a spotter :)

:bounce3: really interesting! thanks

so far no good in manual ;) .. I've found this , yet M4 red dot and mil dot (Razor's team sniper rifle) zeroed ranges seem to be unknown

good suggestion

Manhattan : main base task - smuggler intercept
Tozzifan posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
hi, two questions: concerning the main base, the task is to identify and then kill the man in charge; now I'm reading that players did kill everything: isn't enough to look for a vantage point with the sniper only, and put a bullet into the target and flee? as I've completed the arrest of the woman by chance (I looked for the hinted hatchback car, but the car was in a village, while she was at home ...) ... will it be the same way for smuggler hunting? thanks -

newbie: too much hurry into the city?
Tozzifan replied to Tozzifan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
that makes me remember old GRAW1 times inside Mexico City....:bounce3: -
hi, I'm into the fourth stock campaign mission: I've just crossed the town looking for the sniper: although I've covered the distance almost on the run, I didn't complete the task in time being a long time Ghost Recon (and Flashpoint as well) player, I'd like to get to the sniper location in a more realistic way, by taking the time to cover every angle into the path to the objective, thus enjoying much more the sim is there a way to turn off the countdown timer to "failed task" ? thanks
-
hi, I'm sorry whether these could be maybe a little dumb questions incoming, yet I did not find replies in this forum and in manual as well: which are the differences, in detail, among the four difficulty levels? is there a preferable/realistic head bob setting? thanks
-
hi, I suspended the game while on Harvest Red and Razor Two missions: in either task, on resuming the missions, I found myself and my team -------------------------spoilers ----------------------------- -------------------------spoilers ----------------------------- -------------------------spoilers ----------------------------- suddenly teleported, - from the truck I was boarded into a barn where we were "interrogated", - from a village (power plant), having yet found no clues to find the bad guys, to a power plant in which suddenly one of them appeared after the restore, .... thence the end of the mission (partial failure) have the tasks to be played fully, in one session, to avoid this issue? thanks
-
hi, I've just thought to give a chance to TiR4 (software 4.1037) are there optimal tweaked settings for Arma2 profile? thanks

basically yours are all very good reasons, and I agree with all nonetheless the beauty of this kind of game is that it can be interpreted as everyone likes most: I've replayed the mission frantically dashing from cover to cover, realistically as I could get, and accepted the sniper killing failure as well Barnaby, :o just on time as taxes, the "trouble" has come ... my fault -
..........playing retail DVD release patched to 1.05 hello, I've just started fighting with ArmA a few days ago and I've noticed: - that the MIL-dot reticule aiming system seems not reliable at all: I've had a task to suppress an enemy platoon and I was able to hit targets beyond 300mt aiming with the upper vertical dots (just like the weapon was zeroed at 500-600mt), meanwhile I could kill enemies aiming dead on at 100 mt !? Â - Â that enemy AI is able to shoot and kill (me) almost at once from a distance and in standing position, meanwhile I'm prone and behind a minimun cover (playing normal AI settings) are those known issues? or did I do something wrong? could they be fixed? that's the way it is? thanks

............. maybe Mr. 8 posts would have appreciated a link too to the already-discussed-to-death boring topic, that Mr. 8 posts did not find searching the forum kestrel7e7, in Far Cry hardly you die of one single shot ......

more than "weird", I feel it's a liiiittle annoying that it looks like, after a game like RainbowSix-Vegas in which trial and error was most of times the only tactic   , I've just bought another one that's going the same way     [CS]SOBR[1st-I-R], I really hope you're a little right .......

I'm a newbie to this game: I'm in the campaign until the situation where me/Armstrong remains alone inside a wood just as soon as the russians start their invasion; I managed to get stealthy inside the wood but, after half an hour, all textures except for trees, disappear, and I see only pink/purple gradations, either in place of the the sky or in place of the ground: OFP 1.29 Athlon 1.1GHz, 3dfxV5500, 512Mb, DX8.1 thanks for any help (Edited by Tozzifan at 1:16 am on Nov. 17, 2001)

I've completed all objectives except for northern airbase securing: I've eliminated all resistance in & out of the airfield (t55, hidden militias and trucks included), nonetheless the mission won't end any help?

I've made my 3dfx card to work inside winXP (with Hujer HoE's driver combined with win2k orginal ones, as they suggest at Voodofiles.com), but in OFP only I get horizontal flashing stripes in 3d environment, while in other d3d games nothing wrong happens any help, please?
