Without looking into it I can't be sure of the issues with the mobo, but likely it's just the ram being forced to run at 1333 which people complain about and it's some default setting with sandy bridge chips, for instance the 2600k is shown to support up to 1333, but you can run faster ram (1600 and higher) with that CPU, Intel just doesn't acknowledge it in the specs. You should still be able to go in and manually set your ram to run at the appropriate speeds or load up the XMP profile the ram came with assuming the BIOS has no issues with it.

They are improved. It was seen in a previous GC video, smoke and other particles are effected by the downwash of the helicopters. I'd love to see it in action with smoke grenades and such.

Confirmed features now cancelled - your thoughts?
Steakslim replied to shephart's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It is? Take away the start up procedure and trim and anyone can fly it with as much practice as required to fly in ArmA2 with any competency as it is, and chances are if the flight model is implemented it'll probably be in that form. The game may not be about helicopters but they are a large part of the game and the TOH flight model is a much desired feature by the community. -
it also was running an SSD and a decent amount of ram.

lol saw the same video earlier thinking to myself "maybe I should post it in that CQB thread".

Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion

Ah it was the item itself, derp. I was reading that like the old weapon variant listings "Mk17 Holo" which was the Scar H with Eotech, but I guess with the guns and attachments separate now that will be an obsolete concept. -

I missed the Mk17 being in the game, was there a video showing it? -
Sure I guess. Considering the game isn't out and all we have to go by right now is the rigs (quite high-end ones) that the demos at E3 and Gamescom ran on it, it's kinda hard to tell what laptops could run the game. I'm sure the laptop will run the game, just that no one knows how well yet, and at what settings.

What's a real bitch was with one for old addons where you could attach satchels to vehicles, there'd be cases where I'm just wizzing through the scroll menu and plant one while trying to board a vehicle in a hurry. It didn't happen often, but oh god when it did I'd go into a mix of rage and OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT trying to make sure I won't accidentally detonate the damn thing.
-
Yeah, but interesting news from the Gamescom videos is they are discussing possible changes to the action menu, maybe a new action menu altogether. So hopefully the ever-so-wonderful accidental satchel incidents, which I'm sure everyone has had including me on numerous occasions, will happen less and less. I actually like ACE's menu for planting explosives as it leaves little room for accidents, though I'm not saying it has to be like ACE's, but perhaps more itemized depending on what your working with.

Are we discussing keybinds for floor demos? Because hell I just rebind keys to how I like them when I get a game, I could care less, and so should many others about the default binds.

There's no real info yet on the moddibility of ArmA3 other than it will be able to be modded. Well probably know much more once the community alpha rolls around. -
No, the suppression is there, and works pretty well I suppose.

I'm gonna hope with the seemingly improved HDR they keep boasting and showing in the videos that the unsightly glow of holo sights isn't an issue (they seemed fine in the videos so far, but HDR settings is unknown AFAIK).

Cool, I'll have something to read when I get home from work :D

Ah very good example.

define "AK scope" and why it couldn't physically fit. There's very few things that wouldn't fit on an M4 or any other AR15 platform rifle.

I think that's a temporary damage solution they have for bushes, because even being shot with bullets caused them to fall over. Usually you had to drive something over them in ArmA2 to flatten them. Perhaps BIS has something else planned and we're just seeing a place holder? Also the leaves idea isn't a bad one so long as it's just a client side particle effect, which I think Arma2/OA already had to some degree when you shot at bushes.

I think he used the "cheat" to change the time of the month to view the night under a different moon phase, to see the contrast between a full moon and no moon.

In PR:BF2 I would set booby traps often...but being the retard I am I fell victim to them after forgetting where they were. Stupid grenade in a coffee can.

Arma III - Explosion and Tracerbullet effects
Steakslim replied to laywiin's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Understand that with Blastcore (especially with the older War Effects addon) the performance drop comes from the heavy addition of particles being rendered ontop of the preexisting one's in the vanilla explosions (from what I can recall from one of OpSnare's posts). In Blastcore alone he better optimized his mod for performance and to avoid running into the particle limit so quickly during effects intensive scenes, but you can do only so much. If new and detailed explosions can be done from the get-go in vanilla Arma 3, while being somewhat economical with how much goes into them for performance sake, it'll be improvement enough over the older explosions and smoke effects which from what I've seen haven't changed much at all since I started playing ArmA 1. People are more or less using blastcore as a reference or benchmark for what we'd like to see the explosions be like. Newer explosion effects doesn't have to be just like it, just something different from what we've had for some time now in vanilla. That's not to say they won't do this anyways before release, because the newer rocket trails and such look wonderful, especially recently seeing their reactions with the helicopters, and I can't imagine they won't give other particle effects similar attention in time. -
Sly doesn't count. He could walk into a nest of honey badgers and come out alright.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!

Huh? I was meaning which dev said that the community alpha was "specifically" meant to bring in new players. My understanding was it's purpose was to test and help identify and iron out issues with the available features in each iteration of the alpha supplied to the play testers. Now personally I would have preferred the alpha to be free access rather than a pre-order requirement, but think of it this way, pre-orders can be cancelled if it bothers some people.
