Kinda wish we had some word from the dev's on some of the finer details of this and some other things. It would shut up half of the see-saw asspained bickering that's running rampant in this forum.
-
I'm crossing my fingers on that one, especially since I don't see much of a performance hit from tesselation, though I can't speak for everyone.
-
Hasn't it already be mentioned in just about every page in this thread that it very likely won't be gpu based acceleration and just the the cpu based one?
-
Do we have official word on the size of the new island? Just because google earth says one thing doesn't mean we'll get it. EDIT: Just to be clear I would love a map that size. At times I was even finding Chernarus to be kinda...small...
-
You mean the AAV and the BTR? Which we've had, and will probably have again.
-
Pretty much the literal "Jack of All Trades"
-
Yeah i mentioned yesterday that they'll probably go the route a lot of dev's have done lately (like with Shogun 2 and Crysis 2) and tack on DX11 features rather than build on it completely. That's assuming they go anywhere near DX11 at all.

Regarding toggle-able options. Often in MP, if it's a player vs player mission, the settings would be forced on. Much like view distance and in many cases the terrain quality settings (which I believe controls the grass rendering currently) would be determined by the person running the server/mission. That way, like it is now, no unfair advantage is given over other players. Everyone has it, or no one has it.

Will we finally see craters after an explosion?
Steakslim replied to babylonjoke's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well I think everyone right now has a shit ton of speculative ideas of what is and isn't going to be in the game. As far as terrain deformation goes, I'm unsure if BIS could pull it off without resulting in some unplayable result. I know the aspect of ArmA 3 sounds like it opens a lot of doors for possibilities, but as with ArmA2, some things just won't happen, and in ArmA3 it will probably be the same. I would however LOVE terrain deformation if it didn't lag the living hell out of servers in MP. -
Nod, your poor Apache is gonna need to be updated not long after you and Franze get it finished and released. :(
-
Good question.... I have no idea. Anyone?
-
If they where to do DX11, it would probably be tacked on like other dev's have done lately. But then you have to wonder if it would serve any extra purpose to what the dev's what to do with the game that they are already doing with dx10.

Regarding complaints about realism in ARMA III

lol, a total bond villain. I think a volcano hideout is in order for the new island. -
Am I the only one who disliked the futuristic approach?

I don't think it looks amateurish or lame, but for the reason you mentioned about the service life of said helicopters, I have a hard time believing it would come to be. Now if they made some updated version of the MI-28 that improved upon it's already existing features rather than completely changing the assembly of how it flies, it might of been a bit more believable. -

I say...don't get too exited. Technically we do have craters already, but not in the form of terrain deformation. -

well....that Hybrid freak of a russian helicopter is a valid complaint for those who don't like the idea.. -
Age isn't a matter, and between now and the time this is supposed to take place, they could throw up some story about it's increased use in the meantime until the events of the game occur, considering several foreign countries are adopting this rifle in some part of their military. I mean the US threw in the m16 in the middle of a war, completely mismanaged the instructions on the functions and maintenance and the ammunition to be used once being issued to the soldiers, greatly hurting it's reputation even to present day, and we still use it and it's carbine variants now.

Get it out of our systems before the Mod's show up with their pruning scissors. -

Remember the shit throwing flamewars before Arma2's release over the XM8 and the F-35 that would spark up, well mainly the XM8. Well get ready to see that again till mid 2012. -
yeah the F2000 made me pause for a bit. I mean using that over the SCAR system for US troops (on the subject of FN rifles that is)? But again, we don't know the particulars and these guys might be using a different countries weapons due to lack of other options at the moment, since NATO seems to be not doing so well in the game's plot.
-
Well not much is known yet about the game's story other than it's NATO, and not a mainly US centric blufor. So we may be seeing a mishmash of equipment, like the Merkava tanks for instance.

Where was this mentioned? -
Or even more so, be able to walk inside the vehicles and even manually load them into a larger transport since the C-130 was mentioned.
