Dynamic retexturing/layering of objects. I.E. weather & seasons?
Steakslim replied to Millenium7's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
You should of just left this question in the RTT thread or brought it up in the Wishlist thread rather than start a whole new topic after already asking previously. -
Render to texture - what are the possibilities?
Steakslim replied to MoS's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Shit, it never crossed my mind folks (but was probably mentioned somewhere in this thread). A real Blue Force Tracker. ---------- Post added at 11:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 PM ---------- I think that might refer to special shaders or shader properties activated during certain events. Example would be Crysis (shush it's just an example) when it rained, you had water run off on a lot of the surfaces. However this was never dynamic where it went from a dry look to the wet look. It was either raining or it wasn't when a level loaded up. -
So is Bohemia giving up on persistant sandbox COOP campaigns?
Steakslim replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
E3 demonstration videos. Campaign is singleplayer only. Note only the campaign. Any comments about custom mission not able to have COOP is just someone going full retard. -
Sure ATOC isn't jacking your fps? Was implemented in the last patch which you may want to disable if so. BIS has been trying and implementing new things since release all the time in beta patches and such.

You must forgive me Canteen Boy...my chest is quite hairy..
-
That'd be one hell of a dlc
-
Good thinking there. Perhaps vehicles will be somewhat more durable to collision with small objects.
-
The values in the engine may not behave properly even if set to a real life setting and BIS are probably trying to compensate (all this is assumption though). Anyone remember what BIS did with grenades at launch which wasn't fixed until a few patches later where if I recall the 'weight' of the grenades was set so high that they would destroy a house by bouncing off of it.

Chernarus was great, it's only downfall at it's time was the game itself lacked a few features that would have thrived in a map like that, such as FLIR.
-
I can't wait to get a good look at the towns and such. All those houses that are enter-able and he did say ALL, so no oddball few that aren't, of course that would go hand in hand on if the AI can finally navigate them reliably.
-
Yeah I noticed there was no clipping which was a plus, but they might want to tighten up LOD or what ever determines collision because one point it looked like the M-ATV was still getting nudged a bit by the Namor though it wasn't exactly touching it, but I may just have to rewatch it when I get back (sudden food run with friend).

You two girls need to stop fagging up this thread with your multi-paragraph posts of bickering.

Yeah in the last few videos of this demonstration he's been mentioning the physics haven't been tweaked to be true to life. The boxes are a big give away, plus the "jumping" man getting sniped lol. Hopefully more weight and such will be added, as everything is rather soft and floaty in their movements. Also he mentions optimization to allow longer view distances, hopefully that will remain more true for most at release.

Remember when the tank crews with little AKS's where more deadly than most other units?

Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion
Steakslim replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Would be kinda interesting if those who own ArmA2: CO can run it as a mod for ArmA3 in a backwards compatible type way. Obviously some things won't entirely be functional but to have the islands, units, and vehicles would be a plus. Of course this is all a really big stretch and hasn't been done in the past, so naysayers spare me the paragraph long reply of why it will likely never happen, I'm well aware as to the reasons. -
I'm all for making tanks harder to kill. I agree they are a bit easy except under a few circumstances where you'd just be shit out of luck anyways.
-
Did we have any word on the rig they were running that on?
-
He says naval combat, referring to the boats. We may still have moving arms on wheels, as the new animations haven't been finished in this demo, so cross your fingers.

I think it was a matter of Ivan not having anything to lose (or not much to lose lol) by allowing Colin behind the door to see ArmA3, and with all the dev activity on this forum it probably wasn't a surprise to him and didn't want to disappoint our uppity community lol. It wasn't like the other booths where EA and the likes are tight lipped about a new game with press only access with NDA's out of the wazoo. BIS has been fairly honest about their game even before E3 though the details were a little vague, a lot which have been cleared up by the gamespot visit. It was just a matter of demonstrating an early stage build you probably didn't want out in front of the booth where a unsquashed bug would give passerby's a bad first impression, especially since while it was in segments, it was still a live demo and not just a video.

it's called CUDA. Basically a poor man's SLI where you use the second card as a dedicated PPU (oddly enough like Aegia's original hardware PhysX) ---------- Post added at 04:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:10 PM ---------- I want to see BIS do a miniature scale model of a time travel experiment ending with the car catching on fire and Ivan going :butbut: racing for a fire extinguisher.

Render to texture - what are the possibilities?
Steakslim replied to MoS's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Only if you have horrible peripheral vision. Realistically while not focusing outside of the scope, you can still see. -
No i don't need to read it again. I'm just pointing out there's no full proof way of using enemy vehicles and assume you are completely safe unless you are in a mission with a relatively small team (like 8 people....together). And also that realistically using enemy vehicles isn't a good idea anyways, in fact some missions/servers/mods prevent it entirely depending on the vehicle itself.
-
It's not a normal thing to use an enemy vehicle, and usually it's smart to broadcast in both voice chat (TS) and in text chat that you are in an enemy vehicle, list the type it is (t72, btr60, or what ever) and pray that some CAS pilot doesn't snuff you out anyways. But again, realistically you don't have US troops jumping into a Russian tank knowing how to read the controls and operate it. If you jump into one in game, you have to take the risk that you'll be killed mistakenly.

Steakslim replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I didn't mean completely between now and then lol, and with ArmA2 they managed to stretch it out quite a bit via vehicle and weapon categories (submachine guns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, fixed wing aircraft, rotory wing, tracked vehicles, wheeled vehicles, you get the idea)
