Anyone else using TrackIR in Arma

Just wanted to post a quick review of my trackir4 I received last week. I was very sceptical in buying it but the videos looked so cool I had to try it. I received the item, plugged it in, installed the software, booted ARMA, and it worked! I was surprised to say the least. It took me a few minutes of positioning the thing on my monitor to get it to work right. I erased the zoom feature in ARMA's options because I like using the right mouse key to do it. Other then that, I have no complaints. I know some people have been saying it takes getting used to used while playing infantry. I have not encountered that problem. With in 10 minutes I had it down. Just make small head movements and be still when zooming in. It feels very natural to me. I only wish there where more FPS games I could use this with.

    The -maxmem command

I also have 2gigs and use a 8800gts 640mb and if I add the -maxmem command I can be guaranteed that I CTD within 15 minutes. Â The -maxmem command doenst work for everyone it seems. Ive tried -maxmem 258, 512, all the way to 1500 and it all makes me CTD within 15 minutes. Another thing that deffinately makes me CTD is if I ALT/TAB out of the game for a second. Â If I alt/tab, and then return to game, I will crash about 5 minutes later everytime! If i don't alt/tab, or add the -maxmem command, I can play for hours stable! I run a stable 28-70fps playing evolution at 1920X1200 with all on settings on very high (except for object detail set to low for a 5+fps boost and post processing to low) and a 2000m view

    Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions

This deffinately helped my performance by about 10%. Im running a P4 3.2 with a 8800gts 640mb. I always knew that I was bottlenecked by my cpu but this helps! My arma marks went up by about 250 points and my fps in evolution with all settings on high (accept objects) are a stable 27fps in the city and 40-70 everywhere else with a 2500 view distance. I have not played online for a very long time with these settings so I can't verify that they are stable for me yet but I will report back. Nice find! Maybe I don't have to go buy that dual core e6800 just yet...

    8800 problem or ArmA?

The only time I get a CTD with my 8800gts 640mb is when I add in the -mem1024 that everyone suggests.... The newest driver gave me a 10% boost also

    New NVIDIA drivers

It improved performance on my 8800 gts by about 10%. Â In towns I still drop down to around 25FPS but out of town or flying I run 35-70 FPS at 1920x1200. Ive tested every setting from disabled to very high and I get my best benchmark results with everything on Very High with the acception of objects detail on very low and postprocess effects on low. All the settings don't really have much of a performance effect on my machine other then objects detail. Â The game actually works better for me with the above settings then having everything on low/disabled.
  6. I had this EXACT problem yesterday with that exact same file. Â The problem is with the newest Audigy 2 drivers. Â Some how there is a conflict between the VOIP in game and running teamspeak/ventrillo in the background. Â I installed an older driver, rebooted and no more BSOD! Heres the driver I used. Â http://www.station-drivers.com/telecha....hql.exe Hopefully it works for you to! PS: I did have to reinstall direct X after the uninstall/reinstall process to get the game to fire. I played last night for 3 hours with no crashes or BSOD for the first time ever!
