    Mission name standard

Thanks for the repsonse. I think the idea of using notes for such stuff is a good standard. I'm using the notes section for that and to thank testers and give credit to the makers of scripts that I used. If your really need to show an "I made this", you can always make a QUICK and pretty intro with your name on it.

Using your revive script, will a BLUFOR soldier (preferably with medic only turned on) be able to revive an Independent soldier as long as they are both specified int he list of playable units? Sorry if this has already been addressed but I didnt see that it was. Â Thnx

I just peed a little..... That is mind numbingly cool for all military geeks. Well done on landing a dream job, and I thank you for sharing that.

    What Happend to These Voices?

No way those are the same voices from OFP. Do you mean Eliete? I just checked and my OFP voices don't sound like that, much more like the Arma ones. It would be wonderful to have a sound mod that sounded like that. Maybe I would care more about my meat-sheild ai if they sounded human.

    Gears of War for PC

Cool looking game from what I saw of it on an XBOX, but I'm just not the console type. Ports just don't get me very worked up. Â XBOX controls ported for a 3rd person game onto the PC for keyboard and mouse... I'll still be checking the PC reviews to see if its worth laying down the dough for. I'm still pissed that the evil empire released Halo 2 on PC over a year later..and made it Vista only....sob's

My Crysis Trailer. What do yall think?

I just pooped a little...that was great. Looks to be a completely different animal than ArmA. So while very perty, I think its just a different type of play. It remains to be seen what can be done in the hands of capable modders though. That could get sticky

    Mission name standard

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, sorry if it was and I missed it. I have seen some maps that seem to use another part of the name to catagorize the specific mission maker, or type of map such as a clan training map. Using your example: CO 06 Kill the AI The name specifies these parts: game type maximum number of players mission name I have seen it added either before or after the mission name in a few variations. Example: CO 06 KJ's Kill the AI or CO 06 Kill the AI 101st CQB Training 4a. Hopefully I haven't lost you. My point is what recomended when trying to put more information into the name. ~KISS? (keep it simple stupid) ~Take your credit in the damn breif? ~

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Actually he lied to a grand jury. That´s a bit different, isn´t it ? Every US citizen called to be part of a Jury today knows that he should have the right to stay away as it doesn´t matter what they decide. Maybe those are aswell the people of the US who still believe in a justice and democracy system that doesn´t get raped by it´s government in regular intervals and who actually think that a sentence handed out in the name of the people of the US is worth more than a penny in the designer trousers of a criminal gang in the White House. Let's keep the facts accurate.  He was NOT convicted of "lying" to the grand jury, and he did not state "I do not recall." In fact, if he had stated "I don't remember," they would have never been able to prosecute him. And he could have played dumb and claimed to forget without punishment. Instead he answered the questions. His conviction was for "lying" or "giving false information" to an investigator. Let's be real.  The Special Prosecutor had already established that no punishable crime had taken place in the leak.  So he went after Libby for "lying" about an unpunishable crime. The reason Libby was convicted was because his testimony conflicted with that of someone in the press. Libby cliamed he had learned that Plaim was employed by the CIA from a certain member of the press.  That person said he had not informed him of that fact.  The Special Prosecutor convinced the Grand Jury that it was the reporter that was telling the truth, and Libby got the book thrown at him. In other words Libby was convicted of "lying" about something that could not even be legaly established as a crime, nor was something he could even be implimented as being a part of. I'm no fan of the Bushy Administration, but such which hunts set a dangerous precedent that continues today with other members of the administration.  It will probably just get worse if we get a president from the other party and retribution is saught.

    The Iraq thread 4

Vietnam did not turn communist. Â There's *never* been a communist government on this planet. Â There have been several socialist governments that have claimed to be working towards communism, but calling them communist is like calling "The Democratic Republic of Congo" a democracy. And Lamont's right, the doomsday scenario America claimed to be protecting the world from (a huge explosion of socialist countries working towards communism) from did not happen. Ok remove the misused term "communist" and insert "socialist"... the point remains the same, his history was wrong and the example is inapplicable. Please don't try to change his wording in order to make a pointless argument. We have already established the true historical facts, and that Vietnam is a bad example. If you just want to be disagreeable at least get back on topic. To move the discussion in that direction... This article This however is a blow to my hopes for a positive outcome. Playing both sides

    The Iraq thread 4

Its better not to be a smart ass when you don't know much. Â Of course collaborators were imprisoned, of course there were executions. Â Those were happening in communist countries by default. Â Political prisoners imprisoned, etc. We were told that all the dominos will fall and all hell will break lose. Â All the region will turn communism and millions will die. Â Well that didn't happen now did it? Â So my point still stands. Â The scenario that we were told to what really happened is very different. Â Same with Iraq at the moment. Â So sorry if you didn't read right. Hello? Â The region did turn Communist. Â (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos) Â Then they fought each other and Millions did die. Try reading my post again, or maybe pick up a history book on the topic. Do not let your hate for the US or the current administration be so great as to disallow you to think clearly. Bashing the Administration that lead us into this war, or making a claim as to the stupidity or recklessness of our endevour in Iraq, I cannot dismiss given the current state of affairs. But falsely quoting history makes you look foolish. Edit* Billybob I agree. Â Comparing the two was annoying, but not even getting the historical context right..... Â This however is a blow to any thoughts on a positive outcome... China arms both sides

    The Iraq thread 4

Wrong kid. Â We heard the same thing in Vietnam and it didn't happen. Â And stick it in your brain that most of the insurgents in Iraq are not terrorists. Â They are doing what any citizen of a respectful nation would do if invaded. Â Yes the Iraqi puppet government will fall, but there will be stability after that. Â The only reason there is no stability is because of the US. It's best not to quote history when you don't know history. The fact is that when the Americans pulled out of Vietnam, tens of thousands were imprisioned and executed. Doctors, teachers and those that "collaberated with Americans" were sent to reeducation camps or simply shot. Following that came the international humanitarian crisis as millions attempted to flee the country, the invasion of Cambodia to fight the Khmer Rouge (which is responsible itself for the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million people), and a breif run-in with the Chinese. You call that stability? Stability did come in the mid-80's when Vietnam adopted a semi free-market which capitalized on their cheap labor. Marinecqc, I actually agree with you. I'm not sure about the actual motives of creating a "perminant" presence in Iraq, but I do think our presence has that effect. The 600 million dollar embassy is due to its size. It is a completely self-contained city, and would have to be looking at the climate in the country. The embassy and the "superbase" show that the military and State Dept. are under the assumption that Iraq is a LONG term project. However I would not completely rule out a sudden reversal of plans. Though even with a Democrat in the White House, I think people would be suprised to see that they would become complicit in the plan as well.

    The Iraq thread 4

Hmm good point simba. Â That leaves 2 options. Â The current one that nobody seems to be happy with, or a complete pull out. I don't know if a complete withdrawl is your view, but it's not looking like a part of the plan. Â Not with a 600 million dollar embassy and a new super base that makes Ramstein Air Base look teeny. All this talk about timetables for withdrawl and meeting benchmarks, didn't seem to effect the real long term vision.

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

mmm..nope, didn't attack science. Â I did attack setting aside the scientific method...but science is good. Â Kind of a broad topic to attack in general too isn't it....Science. Mostly I just debate misguided solutions, Â insincere crusaders, and try to open up to the fact that there are other probabilities. Ok call me the devils advocate because I point out things like this: Poor fish... In fact, I don't know what the hell your talking about or why you took it personaly. Â I just liked the way Shahnaz worded it. Â Why would you think it had something to do with...you? This isn't about us so lets it get back on topic. Â I'll keep future irrelevant comments such as the one about the Shahnaz post to myself, as not to offend you.

    Congratulations !! BIS !!

I was right! Should have known that it would be by you as well. Â As I said, all this thread will be is a bash-fest. Â If you love the game so much, why are you not playing it? Â I was just on and theres about 72 people on what, over 300 servers? Sad that some of you couldn't take my post as an example and try to help him. Â Instead you tell him he is retarded. Â Way to go in your positive contribution to the community. Instead of spending your time trolling through the forums looking for new players with issues to shit on, maybe you could do something usefull like help him. -suggest a server or clan with good people and good maps. -envite him to your home server. -mmmmm.....restrain from being an ass-hole? or do it your way and be an ass until there are nothing but 'holes left around here....to late?

    SD Amunition

I tried out what you described....weird. I also noticed that the aim/bullet drop was different between the ammunitions. Anyone else experience this? Is that the way it should be?
  19. Sc@tterbrain

    Congratulations !! BIS !!

Side missions my man, side missions. Any guess as to what the next post will say? My point is that while many have similar feelings, your post means dittly. Â Not because your wrong, but because it's more of the same, and they just don't care... Sure you could have put it in a more "appropriate" manner, but it would still be summarily ignored in the same way. All your post will do is attract those that jump at the chance to bash you or try to convice you your wrong. Â More wasted space. So, if you have not wiped your butt with the DVD and tossed it out the window, join anything not running Evo and meet some new folks. Â There are still many mature OFP vets out there, they are just a bit difficult to find at the present. Â If you want suggestions as to good servers that run mostly coop or C&H or something, PM and I'll try to help. Good luck.

    The Iraq thread 4

I heard an interesting idea being bounced around today. Â I thought about it and it seemed to make sense, so I'll let you guys ponder it or tear it to shreds. The concept rests on that 26 provinces in Iraq are basiclly "under control" or at least free of wide-spread violence. Â Much of the US troop surge has concentrated on the 2 that are not. So, why not yank US troops out (or at least limit exposure) Â of these 2 provinces and let the Iraqi forces do the dirty work and pour it on with US support. This would reduce casualties from IED's and force the Iraqi forces to sheet or get off the pot. Ok, this is a rather simplistic answer. Â So have at it.

    What would win?

Source ~ http://home.att.net/~jbaugher4/f19.html A good brief explanation, but I am unsure of the accuracy. Â I'm sure someone will tell me if its not. ""The F-19 fighter designation has been one of the recurring mysteries of the postwar era. There is an apparent "hole" in the fighter sequence between F-18 and F-20. Was F-19 never assigned to any fighter aircraft as the Air Force claims, or is it a cover for some supersecret "black" project that is yet to be revealed? All throughout the late 1980s, it was sort of an open secret that the Air Force and the Lockheed "Skunk Works" were working on a project to develop a "stealth fighter" that would be invisible to radar. It was assumed by almost everyone that this project bore the designation F-19, since that designation had apparently been skipped when F-20 was assigned to a Northrop design. In July of 1986, the Testor Corporation of Rockford, Illinois released a $9.95 plastic kit model of what they called the "F-19 Stealth Fighter". Tom Clancy referred to a "F-19 Ghostrider" in his 1986 novel Red Storm Rising as part of a plot involving a future European war. After years of gossip and rumors, on November 10, 1988, the existence of the Lockheed "stealth fighter" was finally officially revealed by the Defense Department. It turned out to be an attack aircraft rather than a fighter, since it apparently has no air-to-air capability. At the same time, it was also revealed that its designation was F-117. It seems that the F-117 designation has nothing to do with the old fighter sequence which ended at F-111, in spite of rumors that the Soviet fighters under test at Groom Lake conceal their real identity by using call-signs such as F-112, F-113, and so on. During its development and test phase, the Lockheed "stealth fighter" was known strictly under its project name of Senior Trend, and never carried any designation at all, certainly not a designation of F-19. Although the real origin of the F-117 designation is still not known with certainty, it seems to have been derived from the strict security restrictions that were in place at Groom Lake during the flight testing--pilots flying the Senior Trend test aircraft were not allowed to tell anyone what type of aircraft they were flying, and so whenever asked to fill out routine forms that requested identification of the aircraft type they flew they would fill in the meaningless number 117. When the first manual for the Senior Trend aircraft appeared, it had F-117 printed on its cover. Since it would cost too much to have the manual reprinted, the designation later became official. So it seems that the Lockheed Senior Trend was never known as F-19. So what then WAS F-19? When asked about this, an Air Force spokesman claimed that the F-19 designation had never been assigned to any aircraft because of a fear that it might be confused with the Soviet MiG-19. This doesn't seem plausible, because the designations F-17, F-21, and F-23 had not been skipped. Another rumor was that F-19 is really the designation of some other super-secret project, one that so black that it will not be revealed for many years. Maybe the mysterious Aurora that has been the subject of gossip, rumor, and speculation for the last decade is actually designated F-19. However, it is still not at all certain that any such aircraft as the "Aurora" actually exists. It is now known that the designation "F-19A" was officially skipped at Northrop's request. Since the F-5G turbofan adaptation of the F-5F was basically a completely new design, the company wanted to have a new designation assigned to it. The next designation in line would be F-19, but Northrop preferred an even number because the Soviet competitors in the export fighter market of the early 1980s all used odd numbers, and Northrop wanted to stand out from these. So the official "confusion with MiG-19"-story isn't all that far from the truth, although it is certainly rather misleading. It is unlikely that anybody would ever confuse an "F-19A" with a MiG-19, especially because the latter was already obsolete. The F-20A designator was approved despite official recommendation by the USAF Standards Branch (at that time responsible for nomenclature assignments) to follow the regulations to the letter and use "F-19A" for the redesignated F-5G. Presumably this change would also make for better advertising copy--"The Northrop F-20: First of a new generation of fighters", for example. A similar sort of thing happened during World War 2 when the designation P-74 (and perhaps P-73 as well) had been deliberately skipped at the request of the Fisher Body Division of General Motors who wanted their new heavy escort fighter to carry the designation P-75 for advertising reasons. Sources: Lockheed F-117: The Black Jet, Robert F. Dorr, World Airpower Journal, Winter 1994. Andreas Parsch on F-20A designation at http://www.designation-systems.net/usmilav....;"

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

Actually that's not true. Â You can vote in many states with out even proving your registered, or even showing an ID. It's called a "provisional ballot." Â It then becomes the job of the SOS's elections division (of that particular state) to verify the registration and residency of the person voting. Seems reasonable, but it's totally FUBAR. Â Now with all of the electronic voting, and having seen the way things run from the inside, I have little faith in our Election process. NEEDDER, they are helping. Â What do you call movies, rock concerts, and forcing people to use CFL bulbs? ~On yet anothr tangent, wikipedia IS the worst thing to reference when making ANY claim of "proof." To prove a point, an old history professor once showed us his posting of how he named his blind dog as the inventor of Pilates. I think its still there.

    release over steam

So are we talking a Steam only, or DVD only release. I would have no problem with a release on Steam so long as I have the option of buying a physical copy. Maybe someone can answer this: Would a Steam release then mean I would be required to have it running in the background like with HL2? Not cool with that.
