  1. Just to make people aware, this 23rd unit does not reflect the old Operation Flashpoint unit that was highly respected and successful.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to stop them using the name, its just one of those things.

Please be aware, that this is a totally separate unit from the existing operation flashpoint unit that ran for over 3 years.

  2. Thanks afro, all the hard work goes to you mate.

Regarding everyone’s posts. I’m a huge fan of the Chinook, and back in ofp me and afro were quite enthusiastic about making it best it can be.

Times have changed, but I’m willing to put this little bird under a "pet project" for arma.

    Here are my plans

1.) Add new WSO position at the rear of the aircraft

2.) Add a variant with a MG on the ramp

    3.) Walk’able Ramp

    4.) Fix Damage textures

    5.) Change Rotor Blade directions

    6.) Increase the sounds

7.) More sfx for ramp, incargo and warning systems.

8.) Look at implementing some sort of cargo system

9.) Fast rope options, and sea based insertions

10.) Lighten up the window glass

11.) Increase damage to rotors when hit on ground

12.) Edit flight dynamics and pitch

What I have done since the first release

1.) Moved Union Jack to rear Engine section, with correct flag

2.) Fixed the texture paths, no more errors

3.) Edited the colouration slightly (more olive green now)

    4.) Changed sides to "WEST"

    5.) Lowered Armour values

6.) No extra markings, call signs or numbers

I’m not sure how long all this is going to take me, not too long I hope.

  3. There was some confusion with the initial contact with the Spanish mod, could news sites please add "peloton" to the credits and original authors.

Peloton was the man who got the flight dynamics to work, not UOE.Txalo.

    Quote from Peloton

Quote[/b] ]I believe that this mistaken UOE: Texalo is a translator and representing of mod FFAA we do not have leader. The Chinook is an adaptation throws by me and Texalo gave authorization before asking him to me, watches README.pack FFAA ET.

Its been sorted now, just a small communication error.

  4. Hi, seems that i've made it work; was something with the Isla Barbuda,

my M4's v1.3 or a "casual" error with the chopper; after try it in

the Rahmadi island... it worked, and worked again in the Isla Barbuda

after this. The UV mapping looks too strong to me, when the sun

is hitting it, the lights are not well done, they display a square instead

the glow that the other vehicles show and the destroyed/damaged

model don't use destroyed or damaged textures plus look weird and

as corrupted or something, and sadly the only clock that works in

the cockpit... is the artificial orizont. Let's C ya

The spec maps were done by the Spanish mod and are the same as their release too.

I don’t know why there is no damage texture, I was pretty sure I saw one before I uploaded it.

Again, what you see is what you get at the moment, as said in the readme, if you wish to improve it/edit it please ask afro and the Spanish mod.

At least it fly’s and does the job.

Royal Air Force, CH-47 HC/2 Chinook

ALL CREDIT goes to AfrographX & Peloton and FFAA Spanish Mod

Here is an add-on for you to feast your eyes on, the RAF Chinook. Released with a collaboration of people, and with permission granted, the Chinook is now a standalone add-on based on the old ofp model from AfrographX.

The flight dynamics have been impressively created by the Spanish mod and fly’s like a dream, this is no hacked flight dynamics, and it will fly correctly based on its real life counterpart.

The add-on has no extra script functions, nor any cargo possibilities; however the possibility is always open to talented individuals who could make it possible, providing they seek permission. (See readme)

Hope you enjoy it, and please view the readme for further details, located in the rar.

    Mirros Welcome

  6. G25 is one of the best wheels you can get, but it comes with a hefty price tag too.

I have the g25 and touch wood, nothing has gone wrong with it, and I also vigorously use it on all sorts of racing software. You also get one years manufacture guarantee with the G25 if anything should go wrong.

No spring or deadzones have arisen yet, and I don’t think they will, everything about the wheel has that solid heavy durable feeling.

Not sure about the spare parts, but you get a year’s free manufacture guarantee if anything should go wrong.

http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?f=186 Is a good start to check out other peoples setups, you might be able to PM them about any of their custom gear if you want to go down that route. However you might find the majority of people use the G25 for hardware.

I have a friend who has had his Momo for over two years, and he only is now getting some small teething problems.

If you’re a serious racer, your best choices are G25 of the MOMO.

    Hope that helped.

  7. Has anyone taken the quiz on the main site?

While I was looking at it, something caught my eye at the bottom. Might be just my eyes, but I can definitely see some sort of facial definition, what ever it might be.

(You might want to darken the image to see it, depending on your settings)

  8. I also completed it on delta yesterday and it took me roughly 12h. (On and off)

I must say i have never played anything quite like crysis, it is truly spectacular, and if you have a pc to run it on high settings, its like "playing" a movie.

    Unbelievable, highly recommended.

  9. Dear all

Despite everyone’s efforts and outstanding support I regret to inform we will cease development for the Armed Assault and unfortunately leaving the community altogether.

For those of you who are following or concerned about the project, Lost World Returns will continue development in the new and next generation game engine "Crysis" after weeks and weeks of debating and discussions within the team.

It’s both a very sad and exciting time for us, and we are very confident we can bring an even greater game experience to you all with the new engine.

We will still keep our eyes pealed on arma and if or when the animation plug-in is released for the supporting 3d party programs we shall definitely try and release something back into the community.

Further progression and development updates will now be held on our own forums and website.

I want to thank each and every one of you including BIS for the experiences and entertainment I have had over the last four years we and you shall not be forgotten.

    Nick

  10. AFAIK the terrain system is similar to ofp/arma with free roaming capabilities. It’s all down to the level design.

What you see in the demo/full is a semi linear route. Normally blocked by natural obstacles to make it feel more like a movie and I assume not to confuse the player.

But if you load up the editor, select all the objects and delete them, you will find yourself in a free roaming environment. smile_o.gif

  11. @Lost World Team,

Want to ask if the problem is solved now?

    Any contact to BIS ?

Any chance to get an animation tool or new O2 Version with animation implementation?

    Hi Raptor

Unfortunately we still have not heard anything official from BIS regarding the animation plug-in. And we are now doubtful that we will ever hear anything official.

Preparations are now in place to take the unfortunate move, but we will announce any official news as soon as it’s available.

Crysis is the best “compatible†engine that we can use for our story and game experience that we want to portray. (As well as arma)

Who knows, perhaps down the line BIS will release their tool, and we will release something back into he community, but for now we are going to wait a while longer until we make a final decision.

I would like just to say a huge thank you for the community support, 99% of signs where valid  (some where spam) and I really do apreacheate the efforts of every single one of you.

    Nick

  12. For those not understanding the post I made, it was not my intention to single out BIS and portray them as “anti community†I couldn’t help notice a few replies on here swinging that way.

I have the up most respect for the company and like others have said; their community support is certainly a cut above the rest.

The whole reason we went public was to show BIS the numbers and the people supporting the idea. I wasn’t anticipating any numbers at all, in fact even if two people signed, it wouldn’t have mattered.

I don’t want to turn this into a campaign to slag off BIS either; they have their reasons just like anyone else. And if they feel the community does not need this tool, then we all have to accept this. However this was my last attempt to at least check this. All we want to know is whether BIS have plans to release something to allow custom animations to be imported into the engine via max or Maya. It’s a Yes or No answer, and would confirm for definite if we can or cannot progress.

I’m sure BIS have more things to worry about, and a small petition will be the least of their worries, and I am not expecting miracles. But I won’t be asking my self “what if†either.

The whole debate about the dinosaurs in arma question; I don’t know about anyone else, but I like variety, and I don’t see the engine as a military sim at all, I see it as a creative place for ideas.

We were not expecting or demanding a tool from BIS for the arma community to support 3rd party programs for animation creation, and imports. However we did assume we might see something though. And dinosaurs have been in the engine before, with the beta release back in ofp days. So it’s nothing “newâ€

We always knew the engine, and its limitations, and you could call it false hope that we where hoping BIS would release animation import tools for the more complex models/mods and the ever growing talented members of this community to support that and the verity of creativity with this new next gen engine that it offers to us.

  13. @ Ohara

Thank you for your reply. Obviously you are one of the developers at BIS and I fully apreacheate your reply to the situation. However are you speaking from a personnel note on the problem, or on an official note?

    @Rock

We are fully aware there is no “Animation tool†as o2 is too limited in this department, but we are aware (until now) that there was a mel exporter script for Maya that obviously did work, as the animations we see in game where used with it.

I can clarify this because at the time of the original discussion in the first quarter of this year, I was told by another BIS employee (and friend) that this was the active and only method.

    @ Everyone

Obviously technology changes and I am please to hear you have a new and more efficient system using the FBX format.

In my letter to Maruk, I did mention the fact we would all be willing to sign NDA’s and allocate the required software to the people who needed it, in this case it stands at 2 people.

It looks like BIS are still reluctant to give any official word, despite the encouraging reply from Ohara.

And just to make a small note, it seems this petition has now grown until something much stronger in terms of “community support†and other mods also requesting this vital tool.

By no means either am I trying to alienate BIS or put them in the spotlight, they have been given constructive community support where and when on this forum.

Anyway, I am astounded by the number of replies and support signs.

  14. I sent a PM to Maruk and Suma. I urge everyone here to do the same thing!

I'm sure that'll go down like a wet fart in an elevator. Have your little protest guys, but please be wary of coming across as pretentious and demanding. If you end up alienating BIS because of what is frankly a self important and self righteous crusade, and because Marek and Sumas inboxes are flooded with spam on your behalf, then it's the rest of the community that suffers.

    Thanks.

I don’t think you can call this a protest; all forms of communication have been to a professional and mature level, with even Placebo trying his best to help.

None of us are accountable for user opinions and actions on this forum, so I don’t expect "spamming and comments" to reflect the current situation at hand, which was clearly written out.

Thanks everyone, this is really astonishing support, its by far a good start, and we can only wait to see what happens.

  15. i would sign or take part in any way i can.

Just one thing bothers me and may explain the silence if my assumption is right your title suggests an already used trademark and this site now earns a revenue thru advertising(read:buy arma now) and if thats the case then bis cant in anyway take part even on the sidelines without a risk of legal issues , let alone release tools to further the project.

just my assumption if its complete bollox ingore me and sign me up for a laugh anyway smile_o.gif

Thank you for your support everyone

We have nothing to do with Jurassic park or the franchise; i made sure of this from day one of development.

We are set in the universe so people can automatically relate the mod with a "JP theme" in a way its our indirect marketing tool wink_o.gif

And you just showed us a perfect example  smile_o.gif

    Dear community / BIS

Online petition thanks to Matt Rochelle

    http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/14982.html

Lost World Returns has an urgent problem, and we would like to address the situation. With over a year spent in development, with most of our content being created behind the scenes, we all have spent a lot time and money on this project and we have now hit a large wall, or rather a HUGE MOUNTAIN.

We would like to try and rally up some support from the community and ask BIS one last time for their help and support.

With the release of the community tools most of the mods where able to start porting or developing content for Arma, with little problems.

Unfortunately we had a different story, and we were relying on BIS to release their animation tool that allows exportation of smoothed skinned data form a model from Maya into o2, this tool would allow us to import Maya created animations without doing the impossible job of rigging and setting up the weights in o2. We are fully aware BIS has such a tool, as the animations you see in-game where created using the exact method from their motion capture studio.

With talks and emails arranged, we have still not heard anything back for over two months, not even a confirmation email acknowledging our issue.

So it leave us no choice as a “team†to try and get some public support on the matter, and if by the end of the month we have still not heard anything we will have to consider developing our content for another engine.

By no means are we in position to start demanding information or software, but we would like to hear a response, out of respect and curiosity and from a professional stand point of view that BIS represents in their company.

If BIS are reluctant to reply, unfortunately we will be packing our bags and moving to another engine, not because of choice, but because of future development. We have produced too much material to drop it all. And we are more than willing to take a step back, in order to take many steps forward again in the future.

I hope everyone understands our position and the next week will prove to be the most important.

Our dinosaurs have been crying out for this animation technology and we really need to support them.

If any news sites that would be willing to help spread the word, that would be great.

Thank you for reading and support

    Nick
