Yeh totally agree with you, but like you said in terms of "infantry" based kit, such as vehicles they have been going since the 70's and onwards. I think the motto is "If it ain't broken don't fix it" But don't quote me on that Nick (PS i do not claim to be a military expert so before the air chair experts come along, please don't have a google search engine battle)

Ok i fully understand that, i have always been a fan of the mapfact stuff and its always been "playable" so why not keep it the same for your islands too Im not sure if this has been discussed if so then i will read back the topic, but are those mountains part of the terrain? Converted into terragen and created that way to get more detail, or is it more of a collection of models that slot together and make the peek? I also understand if this is classified information Nick EDIT: Great Pics really fits in well

This might sound a bit stupid, but has mapfact ever thought about making a new island from scratch, it always wonders me why people prefer editing BIS islands than rather making their own with what appears to be some stunning objects you have in the pipe line. Nick

That because obviously whoever took the pics has Anisotropic filtering turned off and is probably only using Trilinear filtering. The same thing will happen with any game depending on the mip map settings used. Ah didn't know that, thought it was to do with the lods, or textures as ofp never really liked viewing flat textures. (runway markings) I can only presume they are not using the full effects due to the fact of roleplay considering the camera he is using isn't of high quality or something on those lines.

Hi all I tried searching for this but nothing came up. Does anyone know if anyone has (or dma has) released a vehicle replacement pack for the DMA army pack that was released some time ago along with a compatible ECP config. I found DMA to be the best unit replacement mod as it only featured units, and not 100s of effects , it goes very nicely with ecp. But having a vehicle replacement as well would be the cherry on the cake. So i was wondering if anyone knew if anything was created or is in the process? Many thanks Nick

Could be the fact he was directed to this "existing" thread? Digging this up might bring new interest. I for one would be willing to do the animations. And i know a friend who has as "water cannon" weapon which can easily be adapted to fit the "heat ray". I have the model from orsons original post. I have managed to reduce the polys to around 6k. But my o2 skills lack the fundamental requirements to get this thing in game and working. If there is anyone willing to spend time trying to get it to ofp standards with lods ect i would be happy to do anims and scripts and textures as stated above. Nick

Hello All Im not sure if anyone is or has had this problem,but for me when ever i take a active role in flying any sort of aircraft during multiplayer my ping dramatically increased to the 100's and by bandwidth dramatically decreases to the 20's. I really don't know why this happens as when i am on the ground, or in any other vehicle i am at my normal ping and bandwidth rate. I have a 1mb NTL broadband connection. Sorry if this is in the wrong topic wasn't sure if it would be classed under troubleshooting or multiplayer. If anyone could shead any light on this situation i would apreachiate it Nick

Thanks for the replies. My fps in game is about 28fps. View is MP standard set at 800 M. I will try netlimiter 1, thankyou Q. But will this help explain the problem? As i really don't know whats causing this. Nick

Im not sure if any one has had any experience in this department or had a similar problem, but when placing objects that feature "open" options, such as gates doors ect, during MP the gates only open for the clients machine and not for the rest of the players on the server, im not sure if this is a island related problem, or a addon problem, but i do not remember them doing this before on other islands i have made. I am using Mapfact bracken objects that include raiseable fences and doors/garage doors ect. If anyone knows why this is happening i would love to know as its rather annoying in MP. Many thanks Nick

Anyone notice the huge decrease on the view distance from that MP vid? That got me worried, i hope there will be a feature on the server to allow pre set view distances, rather then using triggers to set the view distance.

From what i can see they look like they have enough quality to release as a beta, but its up to you. I for one am a tristar fan and love everything about them so i would say yes Nick
