  1. MG42's are indeed formidable, but they are also cumbersome and and pain to move around with. Finding a good spot to emplace yourself ca be difficult when you take into account being flanked/naded etc. It can be frustrating when someone is dug in but hey, i personally like the challenge of digging them out. Plenty of time spent scraping the belt buckle using any dips in the ground. The only really downside of trying to do things like this is the aged movement and animation used in RO. Another reason HOS is going to be sooooo good. Fluid movement..... cant wait.
  2. I see what your saying but i'd argue that TWI arent marketing for the COD crowd at all, maybe just those who play COD out of lack of options, i for one fit into that category. Its ok to play, but i never play the game on my own only if a few clan members are on playing. Where as RO-OST, i will play for hours on my own. If by having the leaderboards attracts the kind of people who bitch and whine on COD then i say get the money out of em and let em give up after a month. With proper dedicated servers, you dont have to put up with the bitching. I would consider anything generated from those people a bit of extra income. I would hope their market is more those people who are in between COD and ArmA. See the game fo what it is, but with a few added extras. As i say aslong as the gameplay is sound those kinds of gamers are going to come back and buy the next product. You may loose some sales in the future as you mentioned, but i'm sure once the quality of gameplay is known, you will get more sales through that.
  3. So if you screw over your fan base year after year (which TWI wouldnt do) you loose business? My god..... Someone should have told Activision.. COD Kiddie, is refering to these people who pick up a new game spends weeks bitching and moaning, calling you a cheat and a noob etc. Then they move on... I have nothing against COD for what it does, which is to regurgitate the same game, with a new face lift. In very short spells its fun but i assure you any business lost because of these people in the future (well lets face it, it prob wont happen as these are the people who buy the "new game" just to be there). Wont be missed...
  4. Well i havee to admit, i really only discovered RO-OST at the tail end of last year, i couldnt believe i had missed it. Anywayy in that time i have clocked more hours playing that than BC2 & BOPS combined. I am really looking forward to the new game. RO gameplay but with COD fluidity, thats got to be win win. I really dont care about all these small issues people have with leaderboards and rankings. As long as the gameplay is sound, i for one will be playing for the enjoyment. If having leaderboards etc. attracts some of the COD kiddies then i say good for TWI, its more money for them. Such people i'm sure will tire quickly and will jump onto BF3 shortly afterwards. Leaving the rest of us in peace. :)
  5. Why are you having issues? I have a modded ACE version with wounds active. Basically anything less than dying, you use the ACE system. If you die then the default medic revive works fine. Then just patch back to full health with ACE.

    Terrorattack in Norway's capital, Oslo.

Reported 80 dead as a result of the island shooting and most are gonna be kids/young people. Fuckin disgrace... Condolences to the family's and to the Norwegian people.
  7. Is there a way to unlock more parts for building? LOVE IT! :) This is so going on my PC at work. Its a shame this is so "kiddish". I mean i could actually get into something a bit more serious, like a SIM NASA or something. Have to develop tech and really start from scratch. Try and get from Mercury program right up to whatever you want landing on Mars, FLT travel. Obvisouly the tech would be made up for future stuff, but it would be cool.

    How to fix milpacs

I'm assuming you mean some kind of roster plugin for a web based CMS system? I have no knowledge of Nuke Evo, but it might help to explain your problem/situation a bit clearer.
  9. Anyone who is willing to work as a team and patient enough to wait for a medic is more than welcome into our server. We run a custom ACE version of the latest build. As i say all those willing to play properly are more than welcome. Server - ^BOB^ Killzone Sometimes we run a password game for regulars and invitees, again we dont mind new players aslong as they have the right mindset. Password = fun If that password does not work it is because we are having a private session. Server is located in the UK.

    DCS: A-10C Warthog

Well as anything its possible... Although i'd say it would be less desirable to play A10 without a HOTAS of some kind. Where as the Ka50 has relitively simple systems (compared to the A10) you could prob get away with it. The problem with the A10 is the entire avionics suite is designed from the ground up to be intergrated and controlled with HOTAS. There are going to be a hell of a lot of key presses you will need to learn just for basic tasks. On the plus side, having a fixed wing platform added with the trim system you can take a lot of the "manual" flying away, which in the Ka-50 takes up alot of your time just keeping the thing in the air. I'd say if you are proficient with Ka-50 with the keyboard/mouse combo, then you should be able to do stand off attacks and ccrp drops. The problem is going to come when you have a lot going on and you really need to be heads up, using muscle memory for the controls rather than heads down looking for the keys.

    DCS: A-10C Warthog

Welcome to the A-10C world Myke, you going to enjoy it. I would list 3 points for helping you start out. 1. Patience... Take your time, have a good look at the various guides/youtube tutorials out there. The Eagle forums are very active and much like this community are very good and willing to help out with noob questions (aslong as you search first :p) 2. Spend some time and get a profile for your X52 your going to be happy with. There are a few out there that will be a good base. I would try to keep as much as you can to the actual HOTAS setup used in the real thing. I hav a TM Warthog and you really do need most if not all of the default HOTAS controls to be effective once you start to combine systems and become combat ready. You really need to have the controls in muscle memory so getting a decent profile will be essential. Once you get this sussed you will find operating the avionics a doddle (its just understanding each system that taks the time). 3. Spend your initial days/weeks just learning how the A-10 handles, at diff weights, altittude. Get a good feel and dont worry to much about the bits that go bang for now :) Get to be friends with the Trim, once trimming becomes second nature you will find other aspects later on so much easier.
  12. Cant say i've had any issue, i noticed it can take a good couple of presses of "R" to get the display to turn on.

    Domination - Active again?

I always thought Domination required a dedi server to work correctly?
  14. Hey CODE34, first of all fantastic mission. I have a quick question regarding the ACE version. I take it this version is still very early in development, as i cant see alot of ACE content in the mission. The reason i ask, is i'm looking at adding more ACE features such as some modules, ropes etc. Would this cause any problems that you are aware of? Finally could you clarify what the difference is in your ACE version?
  15. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! Comon! *I'm so happy*

    RUM Assets

A quick question, must the operator of RUM always be a group leader? I have just tried an insertion as a group member, with a friend as leader. Requested a fast rope insertion. Once the ropes were dropped only i was "ejected" onto the rope, he was stuck in the chopper. EDIT:- On the above point, after testing a little more, it appears as if only the script callerr i.e the one requesting insertion and AI in the chopper, deploy via rope fine. But any human players in th chopper do not, they get stuck. EDIT:- I know you say this hasnt been tested enough in a dedicated enviroment, but has anyone had it fully functional? I seem to have ran into a problem with the artillery, on the dedi server you can request arty, it gets to the dialog of authenticating but then nothing, the arty battery's just sit there.

Ok cheers Draper, will look into it.

    RUM Assets

Hi Draper, first of all gotta say brilliant job on this package. Definatly something that will be at the base of my future missions. I was wondering if it possible to link the script into an object. For example at the moment the method of choosing who can use the system is determined by the unit name at the top of the settings file. Would there be a way of setting it so that whoever had a radio/backpack object could use the system? That way others could still call support even if the primary JTAC is killed.

    Our War in Afghanistan series

As most of the footage is from "helmet cam" of the guys serving i would doubt it.
  20. Hi guys, i have this script which i used in one of my ArmA projects. I'm trying to bring it over onto a current ArmA2 mission. _gamelogic="logic" createVehicle [4212.21,4182.89,25.44]; _times_to_play = [5, 12, 15, 18, 19]; _played_times = [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]; _i = 0; while {true} do { _i = 0; { if (abs (dayTime - _x) < 0.05) then { if ((_played_times select _i) == 0) then { _played_times set [_i, 1]; _gamelogic say "Adhan"; }; }; _i = _i + 1; } forEach _times_to_play; if (dayTime > ((_times_to_play select 4) + 0.1)) then { _played_times = [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]; }; Sleep 10; }; Basically it should sound a call to prayer from a designated point where a game logic is created. Obviously i have changed the location to the new one on Zargabad. The problem is it just wont play and i cant see why it wouldnt. Unless something has changed with the playing of sound. Can anyone offer any advice? EDIT: After checking it seems the sound file wont play straight from a trigger either. Something is off...
  21. Sorry for the late response, just got so much on atm. Anyway, i've had a play some more and this is still annoying me. I can define the sound in the description as CfgMusic rather than CfgSounds and i can get it to play fine through a trigger. But it just will not play the file with it defined as CfgSounds. It shows up fine in the trigger effects, but when selected and previewed there is nothing. I have tried both methods, with no result.
  22. Is used through the ACE Interaction button. Primary use it to let someone know you are right behind them without them having to turn around. Used mainly by myself just for immersion, not sure it plays as much of a tactical purpose as it does in real life. An example of real world use would be like i said above or something like a unit about to do a room entry, each person from the back, forward taps or squeezes the shoulder in front to let them know they are ready. Once this reaches the front guy they know everyone is good to go.
  23. Cheers for the reply mate, managed to find the section of the script that dealt with the crew check on dismount..... Slight change and we're all good :)
  24. Hi Draper, wonderful script mate been looking for something like this for a while. I have a question i hope you can help me with. I am adapting the script to work with the Unsung vietnam mod. I have replaced the vehicles with the Unsung varients this is fine the problems comes with the extra crew slots in the Hueys. Basically by default the script spawns 2 crew members in the Huey's, this puts a pilot and another one in cargo. I have modified the sendTrans.sqf with the following: _pilot1 = _grp1 createUnit [airSupPIL, _spwn, [], 0, "FORM"]; _pilot2 = _grp1 createUnit [airSupPIL, _spwn, [], 0, "FORM"]; _pilot3 = _grp1 createUnit [airSupPIL, _spwn, [], 0, "FORM"]; _pilot4 = _grp1 createUnit [airSupPIL, _spwn, [], 0, "FORM"]; _pilot1 moveindriver _AShelo1; _pilot2 moveinturret [_AShelo1,[2]]; _pilot3 moveinturret [_AShelo1,[0]]; _pilot4 moveinturret [_AShelo1,[1]]; This obviously fills the crew positions... This seems to create a problem however. The transport chopper picks you up fine but once dropped off the chopper no longer departs once the group is out. This only happens once i have added the extra crew so i assume this is the problem. Do you have any thoughts on this or how i can fix it without having the remove the crew member again? Thankyou in advance for any help and sorry for the long explanation.
  25. Has anyone had any success running DAC with the Unsung Mod? It seems that because of the amount of objects forming the jungle, the DAC system just cannot generate waypoints. I'm trying to tweak the settings abit, but is this a limitation of DAC or is there a way to force DAC to generate waypoints in an "object rich" enviroment??
