My rigs specs are very similar: Athlon Thunderbird o/c 1100 Soundblasater Live GeForce 3 TI500 511mb Ram OFP runs flawlessly for me...no slow down, no hiccups, all graphics options on, 1115x864 resolution or 1280x720 (still deciding which to stay with)

looks like OFP will be working on gamespy3D (thats not gamespy arcade its a different rpoduct) http://www.gamespy3d.com/news/index.shtml

Wow...Netscape is most certainly falling by the wayside and holds an ever dwindling portion of the browser market, however, I dont think that its such a dead issue that companies can afford to ignore it just yet...most certainly a very nasty oversight by their web development team.

Multiplay in OFP works fine for me

Ok...sow how exactly does that help him with his problem...Other than you flapping your gums nothing has been accomplished.

As a gamer, skimping on a graphics card can be your worst move...hold out...save up the cash and get a phat card...as with all computer components, the big question is...how long do you want to hold back the inevitable of upgrading. Sooner or later you have to spend the cash...so either do it all at once by buying high end equipment...or spend it across a period of time which ends up meaning you settle for multiple versions of mid range performance. EXAMPLE: The Gforce3 Titanium or Radeon 8500 will still be workable and perform well in 2 years time, where as a low end card will be in really bad shape by then...there are also the mid range cards in between, but you get the picture. Just my thoughts on the matter...good luck in your decision!

I got a set included with my Gforce 3 TI 500...they look really kick ass on ofp and give everything depth...however...they take a ton of tweaking and getting the settings right...they also tend to get out of focus when switching between 1st and 3rd person views.

I actually had a guy b*tching at me last night because I was hiding in a bush..."bush hiding panzy"...this is the kind of person I think they are talking about above when they talk about quake...This is by no means meant to cut on folks that enjoy quake or similar games...but rather...a stab at the folks that think running into the middle of town with an m60 and spraying until the clip is gone is a good tactic for OFP...myself, I enjoy these folks as they make great targets...but it does get old when the people start complaining because you refuse to employ the same method.

Once I have downloaded a missions and placed it on a dedicated server, can I then rename it??? I would liek to rename some of the missions on my server to better describe what they are and player limits...however, I dont know if they have specific calls to their given name or not...thanks in advance for your time.

Like any type of connection, your connection with dsl will depend greatly on the server...The dsl will help alot and widen your area of ability to play...the best thing to do is find a couple servers that you connect to well and stick with them...I would advise against playing on cable servers...regardless of what you hear, most of them just dont have the power to run a good server...find a dedicated server that runs well for you and make it your primary game spot....most servers have a crowd of regualrs that play on them so you will also find some folks that you can actually have some good team games with this way.

you can also use server docker to gain the same functionality...works like a charm for me...find it here: http://winsoft.net.au/~stephen/serverdoc/

Attention!! Someone sending mysterious files to forum users.
suchey replied to Drewus's topic in GENERAL
I have heard reports that the Hybris virus is also traveling via this delivery method...the best method of action is to contact the users ISP...the ISP will probably be running UNIX mail servers which are imune to this type of item...so they may request a copy of the mail...in any case, provide the ISP with as much info as possible...in most cases, they will take action which will require the user to remove the virus. The people you are receiving this mail from most likley dont know they have it...but most will not admit it if you call them on it as the only way they will get it is if they were trying to see the implied porn which was supposedly attached. So if nothing else, its funny to laugh at them for trying to look at the naked snow white stuff -

This is the Sircam virus....the people that you are getting it from dont even know they have it in most cases...once the file is opened and the computer is infected...it sends itself to other in your address book...if you dont open the attachemnt, you wont get it...so best to just delete it straight away. Here is info: http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/sircam/default.asp?cid=2360 -
basically, I think that the problem here lies not so much in the game, but in the lack of quality CTF maps available...almost all of the complaints could be addressed by the mission itself. However...it seems that although the community continues to pour out tons of single player missions...very few really good CTF missions are available...hopefully someone will step up to the challenge and provide us with some quality work...looks like therumble.com post above is a step in the right direction! I look forward to checking out those new maps! Please post when they are available.

One last try for help, before it hits the bin.
suchey replied to Col Rambo SBS's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Sounds like a networking thing perhaps...do you run a home network?? You may need to ensure that you have the computer your playing on set as the DMZ if so. -
If you can do it within the rules of the game its ok in my book...people b*tch about respawn camping too...if it is important to you...keep a guard there to ensure that the enemy can not approach the position rather than running into the middle of the map and emptying all your clips. People need to remember that this isnt a Frag Fest. If someone calls you a camper...take that as a compliment...it means you figured out that standing straight up and running around balls out only gets you whacked.

Dont know if this will help, but there is a problem with patching to 1.3 over the beta patches...it is best to completely remove OFP...reinstall...then apply patch 1.3 to 1.2. Hope this helps!

executable files cant generally be run from a web page (www)...would be far too easy to propigate viri and other bad s**t if this were the case...co-location is about as close as you can get to something of this nature...but you cant get a game server running through a browser.

Chris...I got your mission, but havent had a chance to try it out yet...thanks Thunder for the links...still not too many quality CTF/Flag Fight missions using the new weapons...loaded up a couple and ended up getting rid of them as they were poorly designed and not muh fun to play...I will load in the new one Chris sent next week and try it out...thanks again!!!
-
There are TONS of single play and co-op type missions out there...but the flag-fight and CTF missions are few and far between. I looked in most of the map sites but have yet to find any good Team Vs. Team Maps which make use of the new weapons...anyoen know where to find some for my dedicated server?? Also, a quick question...if I put a missions into rotation which makes use of addons such as the winter addon or new skins, etc...will the users of my server download what they need automatically from the server or will they need to have it in advance? Thanks for your help.

Maybe its fire wall related? Are you using a router or dsl internal modem? What type of firewall are you using (if any)?
-
I sent it to the messanger built into the board here...check that- it has my address in it

great!!! Thanks!!
