when logged in as admin, you should be able to start the game...it will pop up a message similar to this: "all players are not ready...do you want to continue" or something of that nature...hope this helps

Prediction: 90% of the mods that are being advertised now will not be completed even if the tools were released today. Many mods are nothing more than an idea and the ability to put together a web site. In some cases, someone with some modeling talent will put together some nice models to take screenshots of, but for the most part, nothing ever comes to fruition. Happens in every game out there. So how should the developers decide who is to get these tools if they followed the logic of giving tools only to proposed mod authors...and how many people would pop up and say that they too are creating some mod so they could get their hands on the tools? As the above posts mention, the developers have said that tools WILL be released in their own time. No ammount of petitioning is going to change what is already planned. I agree that modding tools would be great to have in the community...we will just have to wait for a release.

there are 2 flavors of gamespy which work for OFP...one is Gamespy Arcade (the one with all the ads and junk) which I dont like very much....and one called Gamespy3d (which is geared more to dedicated servers www.gamespy3d.com ) which is much better.

the voted admin should not have the power to change your cfg file...access to the actual box the server is running from is required for that as far as I know.

Just wanted to provide a heads up to All Seeing Eye users. The 1.41 dedicated server patch is available for OFP...it does not read as 1.40 (which is the the current client side version of OFP) in the all seeing eye. Â If a player has the version 1.40 box checked under OPERATION FLASHPOINT in the All Seeing Eye, servers which have updated with the patch will not show up. Â Until the Eye is patched to reflect this change, you may want to uncheck the 1.40 box under OFP in order to see the updated servers.

Does anyone have any good capture and hold player vs. player missions? I would like to add some to my server, but find very few of them on major OFP mission sites. Id appreciate any info that anyone can offer...thanks!

GREAT! Thanks!!!

very nice...I would like to see this work as well.

In many cases, the vehicle destruction and spawn killing is due to flaws in the mission design. Vehicles and respan should be located away from the flag zones...this way, there is no question as to what a players intentions are.
-
the reporting IP is the IP of the master server to which your server will report.
-
If the game is CTF and the flag and vehicle yard are one in the same...I see very little choice but to destroy the vehicles if possible...I for one am not going to leave a vehicle there so the enemy can chase me with it after I grab the flag...best bet is to keep a defense to ensure the safety of important equipment.

obijaun...I think he means in the game.

the 3rd person view moves in too close to be used as a cheat when a player is near an object...however, 1st person vs. 3rd person views do not offer a greater horizontal field of view, it simply appears as though you are seeing more. Try it...mark the left and right sides of your screen with objects...for example: move your line of sight until the left and right sides of your screen are lined up with 2 trees...now pop to 3rd person view...those 2 trees will still be on the left and right sides of your screen. 3rd person really only offers an advantage when using vehicles in my opinion.

What he is saying is that once you have installed the software on your server...make sure to start the game as if you are going to play it at least one time...that way OFP will generate its own flashpoint.cfg file...simply start the game...start a mission, and then exit out...once you are done with that, you will need to start the server using the dedicated "stand-alone" server exe available in the downloads section of the flashpoint1985.com page. Hope this helps.

but you have to be sure to download the "stand alone server software" (Edited by Suchey at 7:49 am on Dec. 31, 2001)

I think it would be much easier to puch 1 button and give a hand signal than take the time to spell it out in a chat box...others may not find it useful and may not use it...we can debate this forever, but...the animations seem to already be present so its not like it would be a huge project to simply tie them into the interface. If most of the work is already done for them, I see no reason why they shouldnt be implimented. Just one more kewl feature to use.
-
Servers could use more options like this...good idea allowing only certain channels...direct or team would be nice...also...the admin should somehow be able to find out whos transmiting so that they can bump the freaks that like to play music over their mic.
-
I think they would come in handy...most people dont use the chat so they cant hear you...if you had a team that was willing to work together the hand signals could be nice for e a 4 or 5 man squad to communicate with.

Any way to bind those commands to keys?
-
Perhpaps co-location is the key...of course, this would probably end up being quite expensive as you have to provide your own box and also pay the fees to have it co-located. My ISP offers this, but like I said, I dont know how the pricing will be... www.mtco.com
