My guess would be that it will be in the form of a patch...I would imagine you can either choose to update or not, but I cant really see anyone NOT trying it out.

no problem...it was kinda burried in there...easy to miss

Excellent!! Suma ...can we assume that the Dedicated Server Software will also be a part of this "test" ?

This problem has been present throughout every patch for our server...voting seems to randomly stop working, even when an admin is not present the voting will sometimes simply not register. The only thing I can even begin to guess at as a reason is that voted admins not using the #logout command before they leave does not register with the server making the server think that there is still an admin present. Is there an issue with voted admins not being properly reported as gone to a server when they dont logout before they leave the game? This is certainly a problem at times...especially when there is not an admin present with the ability to log in using the server password and there is a player who is teamkilling or AFK. I have seen others report similar problems. Has anyone figured out how to get around this issue? Will a fix for this be available in a future patch or will we need to wait for the Resistance add on to see this corrected? To recap....voting works fine about 80% of the time...but seems to stop working on occasion with no config changes to the server....then it will correct itself without any reboots, etc. Any advice in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Our admins have confired that the problem with voting arises when a voted admin leaves the game before returning from the debriefing screen without first using the #logout command. For some reason the game does not properly recognize that the voted admin has left the game and susspends voting abilities of other players. We are unlcear as to if this happens 100% of the time. Since voted admins tend to leave the game right after finishing their last game and before returning from the debriefing screen, it is easy to see why this becomes a problem on occasion.

heres a few you can try: Fraghaus: 209.240.0.151 Stoners House Of Pancakes: 209.163.146.143 MTCO: 207.179.200.211 Radishville: 208.251.17.94 I know that these 4 servers are dedicated servers...(meaning they run 24 hours a day 7 days a week) and that they all seem to run quite well. Im sure I missed plenty of servers...these are just 4 off of the top of my head...add more below. Of course, your milage may vary according to your connection and proximity of these servers...DrDeath is correct in that using the All Seeing Eye will most certainly help you in your search to find a server that you connect well to. Finding a server for OFP isnt as easy as finding one for some of the other games out there, but its most definatly worth it...good luck in your search!

Crap...I better run out and tell all the people on our server this or they might keep playing...thanks for the heads up

I had the same problem...as weird as it may sound...the fix for me was to unplug my external zip drive and printer...I know that doesnt seem like it should do anything, but it fixed the problem for me. You can actually notice the pause in windows itself, but since you arent constantly updating graphics, etc in the windows environment its harder to tell and everything seems to run fine until you get into a game. Try this experiment...open notepad and hold down any keyboard key...you will probably see the pause as the key types repeatedly. I would have never found the problem, except that the cord for my ZIP and Printer are too short to allow me to pull my rig out from under my desk...so I unplugged them so I could take a peek inside my case...to my surprise everything ran great after that...hope this helps...good luck!

Perhaps adding a script that checks if the inflame is true...if it isnt...it restarts the fire...dont know if this will work...just an idea.

I read that interview too...wonder if we will get to test the entire code contents or just bits and pieces?

Desync is basically packet loss...in a nut shell, it means that your internet connection is dropping information which is causing you to lose transfered information about the state of the game...there isnt much you can really do about...try tweaking your connection which can help in some instances. Also, try looking for a server that operates close to you geographically and has a stable connection. Regarding the other games working...Half-Life and Unreal games have superior prediction code which basically "predicts" what you are going to do next and helps to 'gloss over' any packet loss which may occur. In addition, the ofp netcode is certainly not the cream of the crop among todays games and tends to be quite a bit more flakey than some of the other titles you are playing. The expansion pack in June promises to include a rebuilt netcode which will hopefully make things a bit better. I know this probably isnt the fix you were looking for, but there really isnt any type of assured fix for this. Since your talking about pings around 200, I assume you are on a dial up connection...heres a couple of links that may help somewhat: http://808hi.com/56k/tshoot.htm http://www.56k.com/trouble/ http://php.iupui.edu/~aamjohns/mtweak.html http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/modem/index.shtml Hope this helps a bit.

double click on the map and an icon will appear and give you the option to type text next to it...you can change these icons by using the up and down arrows on your keyboard before the text is entered.

RangerLee...go to your start menu and locate the codemasters folder...within that folder with be a "Flashpoint Preferences" program icon....click that icon...on the right of the resulting screen you will see a button labled 'set up voice' or something similar...click that button, follow the wizard and your set to go. Once in game use the caps lock key to open the mic...then hit it again to shut it off (like using a walkee talkee)...hope this helps!

the only people that tend to moan and complain about so-called "camping" are those folks that think this IS quake. Usually they start spouting that type of stuff after you have put a slug in their mellon about 8 times because they continue to spawn and run straight for the middle of the map.

Dont know if this is what you were talking about, but figured Id take a shot and see if I could help

Is there any way to make the GPS side specific as to its on or off state or is this a global option which can only be ALL on or ALL off?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yup...it sux...cant sneak around them...they hear you from 500 meters...a friend of mine can turn on his EAX and he can hear me breathing from over 300+ meters...so far BIS has relied on new sound drivers to fix this problem...however...there will be alot of folks that just wont change drivers because they like hearing stuff from so far away...its a big advantage to have on their part...Id like to see BIS just remove the EAX option completely if it is going to result in this...its about as close to a cheat as you can get without downloading any software...bug exploitation sucks but what can you do about it. Im sure alot of folks using EAX with this bug are reading this and saying "its not that big of an advantage and I just us EAX because <insert their reason here>...I would venture to guess that alot of these people are using it exclusively because of the sound advantage (even if they dont admit it to themselves...its easier to pass it off as not working correctly). For those that use it who havent admitted to yourselves that this is a big advantage...try playing without it...you will see the difference when someone shoot you from 100 meters and you didnt know they were even around because you didnt hear their breathing from the time they spawned. Following is a direct quote from Suma... "Exactly the same technique can be used for cheating: consider replacing very quite H&K sound (or sound of footsteps of eastern soldiers) by some distinct and very loud tone. This would give you quite big advantage, as enemy would be unable to approach you unheaderd. detected." now...consider the fact that many people can achieve the exact same results by hitting a toggle in their legitimate OFP preferences. A fix would be greatly appreciated.

if you dont want to use any add-ons...check out this link HERE ...it contains info on adding buildings using ONLY ofp defualt items...no addons required. I can tell you from personal experience that it works.

-40 pluss players probably isnt really a possibility...32 is about as high as you can go and even then you will probably experience decreased performance with this many players. -the "recommended stats to host a dedicated server are stated as follows by BIS: You need a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer to run an OFP dedicated server. We recommend using at least PIII 800Mhz machine, with 256Mb RAM and a 256kbps upload network bandwidth. -connection wise, go for as much as you can afford. -the stand alone server software available at flashpoint1985.com will allow a dedicated server to run without a CD present...you will need to install form a working CD of OFP first, then install the stand alone server software. -regarding bugs, 1.46 seems to run pretty well for me...there will always be bugs on some folks PCs due to the sheer variety of system configs/hardware, however OFP runs good for me.

the method described in the link above works...no need for the addons to make it work.

Agreed....as it stands now, the dedicated server has fewer options than non-dedicated...in addition, dedicated servers run slightly differently...(anyone thats done any editing of missions can attest to this in that some things which work perfectly in all other cases break down on dedicated servers). Im hoping that the new net code which will be introduced in June adds a more robust administration option for the dedicated server admins.

Yeah...the 3rd/1st person switch works sometimes, but if you play in a league that doesnt allow 3rd person view or ona aserver that has is shut off, your screwed
