When running a dedicated server using sockets, do the server settings such as maxmsgsend, etc come into play? If so, are there any tweaks that may be useful for the sockets version of the netcode or would the settings be similar to the direct play mode?

crap...that was a nice work around too...if its not the developers taking OFP:r out of the EYE...its the EYE takin OFP:R out on its own... Â

I have confirmed that the terrain detail does indeed work on dedicated servers...I put the setterraindetail into my init.sqs and it worked like a charm.

Resistance is starting to make its way into North America...I got my copy today, however, EB had ZERO coppies and actually told me August 22 was the date they would have them I dont know what that was all about...went downstairs and Babbages had 5 copies...Best Buy still didnt have it either. I was a bit sceptical from reading some of the posts, but it truly is a very good expansion pack...the terrain alone makes it a new ballgame...good luck in finding a copy in your area!

Well...the story changed at our area Best Buy...4 days ago it was going to be here this past Monday...3 days ago it was 'check back tuesday'...2 days ago some ya-hoo that works there said they sold them all and were getting another shipment end of this week...1 day ago they told us Saturday was THE DAY it would be there...today they say then havent gotten any shipments of it in yet, they dont know when its coming in, and they suggested we call their competition  hehehehehe...sounds like they are getting tired of the calls about it...oh well...guess I have to wait till next week

Local Best Buy was a no-go today for my area...heres the kicker...a guy I know called to inquire about availability and they told him that they have already sold a shipment off the shelves...this contradicts the fact that I have been to Best Buy in person for the past 3 days and each time was told by employees that they didnt have it yet. So...looks like Best Buy is getting alot of calls on it and rather than looking like idiots for not having it available on their posted ship date, they tell the customer that they already sold through the first shipment...ironically...the next shipments due date according to the employee on the phone was due at around the same time that all other retailers are expecting their shipments Looks like my dedicated server and I will be waiting for a while until I can get my hands on a copy.

SO what are everyones views on Add-Ons in Multiplayer servers??? Ive seen reports that using add-ons can really slow the stream of players...but on the other hand...there is really some nice stuff that could be put to good use in some player vs. player missions...its a shame that there isnt a good distribution method for some of these add-ons as it doesnt seem that the piece by piece approach is providing a very good outlet for the mutliplayer side of things. As players, it seems most folks simply find a new server if they get bumped from a game for not having the proper add-ons.

If you have the password...make sure to use #logout when you leave...sometimes it wont let anyone vote an admin if you dont logout.

Your best bet is to get off dial up and pick up some high speed access such as DSL or Cable...multiplayer gaming has really outgrown the 56k connections...Im not saying its impossible to use a modem to play...just that its going to be alot more difficult...and its just going to get worse as time goes on...for the time being...here are a couple sites you can check out that may or may not help you. http://www.56k.com/trouble/ http://808hi.com/56k/tshoot.asp
