    Hehe yeah sorry man about the size, I'm always the advocate to only put out "optimized" releases but this time I just said "F it" and packed both pbo's so its full install. It could have easily been done through PatchPbo where the download size would have come down probably 100 or so megs. If there will be additional versions, I'll promise to put out a highly optimized patch where user have to download the bare minimum to get the changes installed. However I'm 99.9% sure there is no need to new version and the final can be released.

  3. I voted hard to fly because I read that as "realistic". I have no problem with BIS flight model, it feels fine. I would not want to fly anything simplified from the default ArmA controls. What I want, is feel of the flight, feeling how the helicopter responds to my control movements. I don't want to have freight train on tracks flying through the air without much input from me. Dunno if that feedback helps ;)

  8. Creating satellite MASK image out of satellite texture. I have searched BIS wiki and forums several times now, didn't find any specific information about this. I'm having great difficulties operating Photoshop to create mask out of the sat texture, I've followed Opteryx's instructions and that one tutorial in the wide image (dunno who made it?), yet I cannot get it to look right, specific problem is that I still end up with hundreds of different colors splattered across the image making it unusable as mask. We can of course always use freehand to paint the mask, but anyone ever done such thing understands it's a huge ordeal and very precise tedious work. My problem is that I have currently close to twenty (20) terrains which would require this... :( Here is my example images, freehand made. <links removed> As you can see, I'm about half way done, still few smaller terrain types to paint (not to mention roads and urban areas). Does anyone have any suggestions how can I create satellite mask quickly/easily or somehow automated way from the satellite texture? Any help would be oh so much appreciated.

  10. How many addons does your next campaign include? Some people have complained about high number of addons, I agree. I have not played your campaign yet so I don't know how heavily the chosen addons are used in the missions, so I cannot talk about you, but its known fact that many times users use addons (on addons or in missions) without any planning before hand, they just put them in because its "cool'. It is always good to use addons only when they really make big difference. Quickest example would be that someone includes 100mb weapon pack addon and only uses 1 pistol out of the 50 guns found in the addon. Again, I have not played your campaign so I can't talk about you, just giving examples.

  12. Unfortunately there is no fancy artillery scripts in ArmA VTE which could be used with our mortars. You can use them just by approximation, adjust your aim by looking where the shells land. Sorry but that's how it runs in ArmA VTE.

    I have absolutely no idea how this addon is setup, but someone mentioned hex editing the models... well no need to hex edit, there is MoveObject from Mikero, it is wonderful tool which changes ALL texture/etc paths instantly. If there is any need for changing paths of textures or something like this, check out PboDLL project by Mikero.

  17. Yes I think the point here is that 5m CELL size is very "high res" stuff and causes problems in ArmA. I think it was Opteryx/Nicholas Bell who said earlier that you should not use higher than <insert amount here> meter cell sizes. Sorry I don't have reference link right now but I distinctively remember one of them saying that...
  18. Terrain grid 2048x2048, cell size 5m (which is very small, someone says too small) and satellite texture size of 8192x8192 gives you 1.25m / pixel. Now that is a good resolution. Perhaps you did some error in your calculations or something, because if your opinion is that 1.25m/pixel is not really recommended... all I can say is that you're so wrong. This 1.25m/pixel level of detail is very good.

Chernarus has its textures placed on two different pbo's. chernarus.pbo - WRP. pboprefix: ca\chernarus chernarus_Data.pbo - Close textures, terrain UI image, Scenes\ and Scripts\ dirs. pboprefix: ca\chernarus\data chernarus_Data_Layers.pbo - Satellite layer textures. pboprefix: ca\chernarus\data\layers This setup works fine ingame because $PBOPREFIX$ allows us to place the content into whatever dir and specify how engine sees the path. However, it doesn't work in Visitor 3 (at least in my test), as it cannot find the textures. When you develop the terrain in the v3 PEW file, do you have to keep the textures in the data\layers directories, or is there any way to define them like in the chernarus example?   21. Damn, additional work when using this setup. Or do you guys know some batch file method to use files otherwise under binpbo control to just click one .bat which would "compile", binarize and pack a pbo's for me using this 3-pbo setup? I mean if I must manually split the pbo's up even when testing in my development setup... it will cause huge amount of uncertainty (did I goof up my splitting this time, is all the new files splitted, did I missed anything etc) in development and release moments. In a compromise... heck with the additional megabytes in the final release, it might be just well worth to duplicate the data\ texture contents on all the WRP's that share the same textures. Yes it means literally hundreds of megs in my case, but ... thats the only way to be 100% sure everything runs smoothly. Or am I wrong?
  22. I want to split my normal "TAG_MyTerrain.pbo" setup into the same style separate pbo setup as Chernarus. Close textures in data\ for one pbo, satellite layer textures into data\layers pbo. Why? Well because I have more than one terrain that would need the same close textures and it would be wasted space to duplicate those on additional WRP pbos. No, there is only one directory just like Chernarus ie "TAG_MyTerrain_Data" and another one is for layers like "TAG_MyTerrain_Data_Layers". But yeah I guess I need to keep the development setup on sub dirs like "TAG_MyTerrain\data\layers" for Visitor 3 to find the textures... unless someone knows a method how to get v3 to see the $PBOPREFIX$?

This is european Everon & Nogova themed terrain of 25km x 25km size, there is roads, airbase, airstrip, several industrial sites, harbors, cities, villages and two army bases.
