    XP-pro versis W7

"Why install 32 bit when most people have 64 bit capabilities?" I agree. Now we are all wondering why this game doesn`t support the 64 bit O/S capabilities.
  2. I did the pagefile to a different drive aways back. It helps with all games, cause it is hard for the drive to read and write to itself. Better performance when you have the pagefile on a different drive/partition than the O/S.
  3. "I've never seen tracks or footprints in my entire time playing this game." Same here.
  4. I can`t understand why turning off physics would do anything. The game doesn`t support physix. So no physixs calcs are being done= not utilized.

    ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization

Get this peeps. Here is my system specs Asus Crosshair III BFG GTX 295 8 gbs Corsair Dominator @ 1600 AMD 955 BE @ 3400 mhz 2 X WD VelociRaptors in RAID 0 I did all the tweaks etc, and have the game running pretty sweet @ 1680x1050x32 winXP, all settings maxed, no AA/AF, 120 refresh. This rig is fairly new, and 1 of the tweaks I always usually do is turn off cpu and pcie Spread Spectrum. I was in the bios looking around for stuff I may have forgotten to tweak, and there the Spread Spectrums are, on Auto. So on Disabled they go. And I head into ARMA 2. Much to my surprise, ARMA 2 totally smoothed out, and the A.I. which had seemingly gone soft after the 1.04 update patch, got alot livelier/aggressive. Now as always ymmv, but disabling my Spread Spectrums..... did more for my game than all the other tweaks together. Just to make sure I wasn`t seeing things, I restarted the game 4 times. I use the sp scenario WarWelcome, cause with all the popup hints totally stopping the game in its tracks, it is a good indicator for me how the game is running smoothnesswise. Hopefully this helps someone else. Good luck. Worked for me.
  6. I have ARMA 2 running sweetly maxed out @ 1680x1050x32. But imho the bottlenecks are in the bug fixes, and engine optimizations we are still waiting for. Flashpoint ran like azz for quite awhile after release, but eventually the patches came.
  7. I beta tested Cacheman XP back in the day. Cool app. But the new Cacheman (sans XP) supports Vista, win 7 etc, and is optimized for more cores. You may wanna try it.

    Grand Battle missions

Anyone remember that 1 mission in Flashpoint, where you are just a grunt coming up from the other side of a hill, you get to the top and see the Ruskies further down the hill behind some trees etc, and then the battle starts? Or the mission where you get dropped in the BZ by heli, and a huge onfoot battle is already going on. That was awesome shiz. I`d love to see some co op/sp large battle scenarios where I am just a Grunt.
  9. Yup. This could/should be tamed down a tad. lol
  10. "lol that's because it's a tutorial... " that is no excuse, unless you are saying most gamers don`t have the attention span to be able to read a popup while the game still plays on.... and then the popup fades away? Cause imho that is how it should be done, popup tut., then popup fades away while gameplay stills plays on seamlessly.
  11. I don`t mind the autosave thing. What REALLY pisses me off is how in WarWelcome the sp scenario, evry time the game gives you a hint, all freaking action onscreen comes to a halt..... Game plays along, hint-halt-plays-hint popup, halt again etc etc etc etc. Whoever coded that needs a kick in the azz!

How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??

I still like the game. But I am not real impressed with how work is going great guns on an xpack when alot more work needs to be done for performance and bug fixes. However, if I saw regular patch updates, this would be something at least.
  13. I switched back to the 191.07s. The textures and visuals are too nice now with this set(the 191.07s).

    Windows 7?

Well, the final release Win7 is out right away. I am switching to it from 32bit XP. The Arrowhead Expansion pack is out when? I sure hope BIS is making provisions FOR win 7 64bit.
  15. "191.07's actually lowered my performance from 191.03 " Same here for me with my 295 GTX BFG. I did notice nicer visuals seemingly, but the 191.07s texture redraw wasn`t as smooth for me as the 191.03s. I have ALL visuals settings maxed, accept for no AA/AF @1680x1050x32. Post processing 100 %. 120 hz refreshrate. Crosshair III AMD Phenom X4 955 BE (usually o/c`d to 3400 mhz) 8 gigs Corsair Dominator DDR 3 at 1600 mhz BFG GTX 295 sli`d VelociRaptors X 2 RAID 0 WinXP

    Windows 7?

With 64 bit here... it`s a bit odd that the devs didn`t take this into developement consideration.
  17. I like ARMA 2s movements. All of them. The only part I don`t dig is how freaking slow moving while carrying someone is. It is so bad, that there is no point in trying to carry anyone to safety. lol Heck, even dragging is slow. So wtf bother? Cool ideas, but the implimentation ruins it all.

    Congratulations BI!!!!!

Imho they tried sort of anyways, to appeal to the realism crowd thru visuals alone. That is where that ended. The rest is all console fodder. They went for the bucks pure and simple. Nothing wrong with going for the bucks, just don`t sh*t all over the Flashpoint name when ya do it. Choose a different name for a different game. As for game performance, it is alot easier to optimize a game with no depth. Much like Flashpoint ran like azz when it was released, which everyone seems to forget oddly enough, ARMA 2s performance will eventually be sorted out. I hope all the peeps who just couldn`t wait for the patch fixes updates, ultimately go away and stay with DR, or your BFs etc etc etc.

    Patch 1.05 suggestions

Remove the fps cap, and fix the ingame options so they infact physically reflect what they are actually set to.
  20. Does setting view distance even work???? I have mine in the games options area set at 3600. But in the profile it still says 1600. viewDistance=1600 Still at a loss why we set things at certain settings in the ingame options, yet these are not seemingly reflected in the configs.

    Why people dont like Arma

Ya know, I think there is room for at least a few of these ARMA 2like titles in the gaming world. There are plenty of wackoff easy to get into games out there. Almost too plenty. ARMA 2 comes along with some actual depth, and someone inevitably rails on about Alienating percentages. ARMA 2, like Flashpoint 1... is a game that will get better with time spent as others have said. Yup, it ain`t friendly for aging systems. And nope it ain`t mindnumbing easy to get into, but it still has rewards for time spent in. CM went for the console kiddies. They in effect alienated the Flashpopint vets, and went for the COD/BF/GR etc etc etc player. They went SO accessible, they totally forgot about the Flashpoint fans/SIM players. CM did to Flashpoint, what Novalogic did to their games after Delta Force 2. They sold out for the quick buck.
  22. addendum: I did a clean install of the 191.07s. They seem to be performing better now, and I do like the better looking visuals they give on my BFG GTX 295. Will stick with these for awhile.

    Nvidia 191.07 arma2 performance increase

My point is this, on the readout of the 191.03 betas, they claimed to give the 10 to 12% or up to 12% performance increase in Arma 2. lol So that makes 2 driver sets claiming the ARMA 2 performance increases. Hopefully this set actually does what it claims.

    Nvidia 191.07 arma2 performance increase

Funny, the same claim was made about the 191.03s. That should equal a 24% increase in performance then? Or up to rather.

    Carrying - too slow

Agreed, carrying ingame is abysmally too slow. We should be able to dio it at least at normal walk speed. At least then you`d feel you had some hope of getting to cover. As it is now, I don`t even bother. lol The actual pick up time is awesome tho.
