    Flight Sims X/2004/lockon etc..

    I just installed Vista x64 5 days ago. FSX with DX10 enabled looks the same as without DX10 except some triangle texture flickering on the taxi-ways at the crossroads. However, performance is close to 300% over DX9. That could very well be that the DX10-portion is better optimized towards multi-cores though. I see FSX use 8 threads simultaneously all the time when DX10 is enabled. I see the biggest performance differences between DX9 and 10 is with Autogen. When I push Autogen above normal the framrate can jump between 5 and 40 fps in DX9 while the same settings in DX10 would give me framerates between 50 and 60. So for me DX10 means a minor graphic issue on the tarmac but alot higher framerate that is alot more stable. My specs are now: i7 920 (2.6GHz), 6GB DDR3-1066, GF 8800GTX and Vista x64 Ultimate.
  2. Is "high detail" the same as "bumpy version"? If so, isnt these statements contradicting eachother? Any chance for a fix to make longer VD stable with the most detailed islands? OFP-world in hi-detail bumpy terrain would be lovely with long VD.
  3. "Flies like a brick is perhaps an overstatement, but it does have a slower turn-rate. I can make tighter turns with the two other versions. Roll-rate appears fine though. The ACE A-10 is the only A-10 I have yet to take off on Ramahdi with. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
  4. Engine limiation IMHO. I already linked to a big discussion-topic about it some pages ago. I know its an engine limitation but the current result is more limitting than the regular system In my experience the ACE A-10 flies like a brick whereas the default and Rock's flight-model is more agile.
  5. Are there any plans to re-work the "jump out" feature for helicopters? Currently the engine stops. I consider that a bug or unwanted feature since it is no different from "get out". Is it possible to get some help removing the "Mando features", and the weapons system from all aircrafts and revert the A-10 flight-model or use Rock's flight-model? Its currently so buggy it ruins the experience in MP for me. A-10 weapon selection randomly reverts to Mavericks and the way helicopters with mixed payload not allowing the pilot manual fire are my biggest gripe. Ground features in ACE are fine though.
  6. With only 60MB difference between a single pack and all of them I dont see why anyone would split them up, but thats just me.

  8. I never have that problem. Maybe its my flying style? The different Apache variants look nice. Normally I like noseart on aircrafts, but there is something about the Apache that make it look better without it in my opinion. Other aircrafts like the good old Hog must have a shark on the nose. Just some nitpicking about the Apache mast-mounted antenna (the one above the rotors). It should have a somewhat T-shape. It also look a bit too long on your model. Keep up the great work

The helicopter is coming along nicely I see A few more things I'd like to see for the M230 in addition to the correct ROF and sound: [*]Barrel recoil backwards (see video) [*]smoke from M230 .I'd like to know more about the MFD overlays that was hardly visible in the YT video if possible. Will the IHADSS also come in green (standard colour)?

    Norway has no taxes on digitaly distributed software (yet). Nomatter how you look at it, Steam was roughly the same price as retail before the currency switched, now its a rip-off. In Norway anyway.

    Any chance you will fix the ai paths on roads in the near future, OFman? The road-path in DA-96 is completely broken. Try making an AI drive from the complex in DB-97 and north on the road.
  13. Let me see if I got this right. You're hearing 90% of the sound coming from the center if the helo is to your 9, 12, 3 and 6'o'clock? Does this happen in other games too? Tried re-installing/upgrading the OpenAL drivers?
  14. You can now redefine all the ports on the soundcard to be whatever you want with the X-FI series (what Realtek AC97 has had for years).

  17. Please post in the correct forum next time. *Moving* X-FI and Z-5500 works without issues as long as you have the right settings (I'm using the same combination). Turn off X-Fi Crystalizer, EAX and X-Fi CMSS-3D Sound in your soundcard settings. EAX can be left on ingame. HW-acc must be enabled ingame. Use the analogue 3-minijack cable that was bundled with your speakers (using digital cable means you need a realtime DD encoder running, good luck with that). Set the speakers to 6ch. Make sure your speaker settings in Windows Controlpanel is set to 5.1. If your sound is still imballanced check all cable connections betweent he sound card and the amp and between the amp and your speakers. 'Sounds like you mixed the green (front left/right) minijack with the (orange) sub/center minijack at one of the ends.

    Sith and I played your latest version yesterday. I think the reward for capturing towns and delivering supplies is too much now. The idea behind reducing kill-rewards was to try to avoid Abrams/AH-1 mass attacks. With your current prices vs rewards I got the big toys faster than ever. Simple way to accumulate money quick: Capture a town while killing as few of the RACS as possible, then let the RACS re-capture the town, rinse and repeat.

    Sorry  it was too temping you had a lot more towns in the north instead of me manualy adding them copying them was much easyer. Nothing to worry about, bud  I just noticed several towns were carbon copies from the official Warfare, but some of the towns on Sara are not identical to SaraLite so the camps and depots needs to be moved manually. The towns that are copied from my 32p version were correct. The whole idea about this is to use the entire island of Sahrani. If you want this mission on SaraLite its easier to pick the official Warfare mission and replace the scripts with Matt's changes.
