    Hands are still static

I kinda agree, but Arma 1 DOES HAVE vehicle steering, and the way it applies to ground. it's just not very visible until you test it.

The importance of well made Tutorials

well, some good points, But when speaking of flight sim, I talk about 2003 edition not X. I feel like Flight sim X is more open, or more easier in terms of gameplay.

The importance of well made Tutorials

I don't speak for devs, not the entire community, just my own experience. New fans to series are those who search for certain experience, like contendee pilot wants a realistic pilot game to train his piloting skills, or army nuts wants to play arma due to army feeling of it. What I mean is that Casual is not the right word for this. Casual is straight to the point. That's casual. and Arma is nowhere casual, but if they try to make Arma 2 little more casual, that's like little less hardcore. This game, liek Flight simulator will not attract casual players, but people that search for certain experience. But ofcourse there are casual gamers that look forward to Arma 2, and that's only because of what they've heard and what they think it is, but once playing it, it's still hardcore at heart, arma 2 will turn casual gamers off, whether the tutorials are appealing or not. Most Casual's will just ignore the tutorials and play the campaign and then throw the game outta door for not knowing chit. People see stuff, like arma 1 sniper video and feel it's cool and want just to install the game just to shoot with sniperrifle, but then realize how hard it is to do and how shitty the mechanic actually is and stop caring. Most of people I know have done this and they are casual and hate arma to death with saying it's boring or the aiming sucks. They just wanted to relive what they saw on youtube. (sniper sniping from range). Because it's cool. Â And when they hear cool stuff from OFP2, like realism and limbs, they only think or Cod4 with limbs and cool looking sripted events. In similar fashion EVE ONLINE. THe stories you hear are cool and addicting in game world happening, but when you go to actually play it, it's not exactly what ou expected. When you tell them you can chainsaw an enemy, they expect to come close, press X button and see hyperdetail animation. THey don't expect going throught some complicated procedures to that (Comparing to Arma here) Word casual is a wrong choice. So is hardcore in my post to some extent. Holy chit, I wrote a lot of crap here. Â Â

    new guy

I'm gonna beat this guy for his crappy questions 1. It's partially destructible, hit in the stomach 2. Limbs won't blow up, go play GEoW2, hit in the nuts 3. Trees fall down, hit in chest 4. maybe, wave the body in the air! HI, welcome to the forums, have a nice stay PS. Offence in this post is meant as a joke

I think it does. The short grass draw distance on that pic, however, might not have been the best move... what grass :P it ends in half meter. bah you edited it.

not really, arma was mediocre/good at best, but Arma 2 is supposed to be the superior game, that's been long awaited since Cold War Crisis. As for scenery, it doesn't look very rich, maybe hint of Arma 1 map remake?

That was my first thought Same here ! The colours look wrong makes me think that all we've seen in videos are pre-rendered. Like just now we got actual screenshot of the game COnspiracy

    Facial animations?

old Counter Strike did that, at least as early as v1.5 well it was extremly simple, no different from Arma 1

don't think it's realistic having the rifle like this you don't aim like this, you put your cheek on the stock and im you really need to change that plus the sight is missing something its should look like this (_|_) but it looks like this in Arma and now Arma2 _._ The problem I realized in Arma's aiming is that the sights are extremly small as pixels. It takes ages to aim, which is not realistic too. :P The FPV is nowhere good. Flashpoint might have as clunky, but  there it's much better. For example, compare it to this: http://tinyurl.com/cshvr7 It might be not super realistic, but atleast you know you'll hit something. and you don't have zoom your head close to the monitor just to make sure your pixel is aiming that moving pixel right there.
  16. hmm, I just noticed STEAM group exclusive stuff is going to be released tonight at CET 19:00
  17. then releasing such video is a good deal. Kill the interviewer in the end of tape

huh?! Â I assume you talk about 'modified' view, well it's not a head problem, it's matter of hands position. Although, default position is anything but realistic too. Feels like rifle-butt is in stomach. And speaking of realism, zooming, ain't realistic, or ye are able to freaking squeeze your eyes out of nose to zoom like in arma. Seriously, stop talking about realism when you want 'zooming' ability Manual FOV, cause those aren't biologically controllable. In same time we just could adobt unrealistic FP-view, it ain't no different from manual zoom.

Good luck fighting in close-combat  Arma's FPV is just no engaging enought and so 90's. It's like volvo 1995, clunky, cheeky and horrible imo. in CQC and indoors, it's totally impossible. and FOV changing, gimme a break guys, do you squeeze your eyes to change fov irl? For instance: From hip view could be more CQC friendly, as shown in a screenshot below.
  21. bah, gametrailers is extremly Console-driven. PS3 gamers are most dominant on forums, X360 gets best review scores and PC is mostly in shadows (took them months before Crysis review release)

blah, first person view see s to stay the same. Again you have to zoom to aima the enemy... wish it's more dynamic (hands) this time then. Come one BIS, make it automatic, depended on how far you're looking. Like if I am looking at 300 meters, the gun automatically zooms in my 'eyes'. and when I point at wall, it adjust back. dynamic adjust of aim. Finally would focus on 'action'. than adjusting my sight-eye 30 mins then shoot a bullet and die.

    how about tunnels/caves?

I remember they talked of Z-buffering or something else that would cause artifacts due the objects such as caves and undergrounds being placed, which is an engine limitation.

    ARMA 2 High Command?

Special Forces are a type of military unit. Not a rank! And its the later the one that prevails when commanding. Team Razor will spend alot of time on Chernarussia, they have the best knowladge of the place, know the enemy unit positions, etc... they will be well suited for unit commanding on the later stages of the campaign. Also at the end of "Harvest Red", instead of a 1st Sargeant Miles you could have a Captain Miles. Remember Armstrong from OFP? Started as private ended as an Officer... WELL, I don't think you'll get promoted from sergeant to captain this fast. That's few ranks up in one WEEK! You mean the Armed Assault 2 campaign is of a week "in-game" duration? Yes, I heard it somewhere...maybe two, well it's a conflict story, and these are usually week long anyway. (Somebody from Devs commented why RPG attributes wouldn't fit in the game, as the story progresses a week in-game)
