ARMA 2 In-game HD Video released

Hmm....two nitpicks I have...or three... 1. I am afraid, the ZOMGPIMPOMGHOLYCRAP Room clearance maneuver is part of the 'ingame cutscene' which is a disappointment for me. 2. The guns recoil is not present when shot. It looks so static. 3. THe emotion of characters aren ot in, everyone is having same exact facial posture Other than that I love what I see. Â Â MIRRORED:: http://vimeo.com/2362022

hmm, im not sure, put the ending is new to me....more of healing shown.. Its more dramatic, put way too looping, if you know what I mean. (same animation f**in everywhere) PS. I find it funny how the wounded is feeling pain on the ground but when dragged or carried he's calm as puppy, while looking around, and when you put him on the ground again, he feels enormous pain and shock. Â distrurbing indeed.

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

Modding games for consoles is nothing new, I did my own sound mod for Daytona USA on Sega Dreamcast replacing over 60 sounds. you sure know how to 'mod' sounds into some game for console. Now do all that on PS3 and we'll shut up. PS. Now replace some characters and well talk...

    Script request

Duh I've only been able to make an Backup Support. Im not that good scripter, never was. I just want to make a mission fast and then play it was and move onto another idea. Scripting on otherway just needs time, and I get bored before I begin. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> onMapSingleClick "_group1 move _pos; '_marker1' setMarkerPos _pos; onMapSingleClick ''; true;" First is solved, thanks to the other forums...
  14. Hello! So I am trying to make a little mission where you are a recon person in between two sides fighting in a city and your only weapons are 'Support' units. For this I need some help from the community of Arma coders. Since I do not understand scripting well, yet I have little big ideas that I want to use 1. Backup Support <span style='color:red'>¤SOLVED¤</span> * Set unit waypoint onMapClick * / * Set unit engage onMapClick * A script where units do not move until the script is launched. A waypoint will be added by the player who activates "Radio Zulu"  and then by a click on a map activates "Support" waypoint. If not with "support' waypoint, then another map click activates second waypoint called 'Destroy'. This is where the current unit/team will engage. 2. Pick-up Support A script which is basically almost same as Backup support, but this one would work anotherway: * Set unit waypoint on player position's, Pickup Player, go to base waypoint * 3. Radar Sweep A script that activates on Radio Charlie 5-10 seconds lasting enemy-unit reveal on a map in radius of 100m-200m. Sweep recharge after every use (50 seconds). * on a Radio-call, reveal enemies in radius of 100m-200m around a player for 5-10 seconds on a map. * Thank you in advance if anyone is willing to help build the scripts.  Â

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

Well that new map comanding requires a precise mouse motion, and with PS3 controller, good luck putting that damn cursor on a house, drawed as a tiny box on a map! Also If BIS is going to make Arma2 for PS3's, I can sure tell you that they are better at programming than Valve! Because Valve got hard time on making their games for PS3 (alto. EA Devs ported it). Not to mention that PS3 is OpenGL on Vanilla. SO it's a hard time for to believe that there will be a PS3-version. Otherwise we would see completelly new engine in the works.

That, actually, wasnt surrending, they just went into the water, got stuck in there for a while and lost their weapons. I bet you saw it in Dolores. hmm, gotta try that mod. Does it work in Multiplayer? If so that would be great!

The FP-View in overall is just old same ArmA to me. I hope they change that. I mean, most of the time (ArmA) I found the Third-Person view being more immersive than the First-person. The problem with FP-view is that it's clunky and it doesn't support Close-Quartress Combat. Well besides the point that undecieved has posted before me, I don't see how the First person view is any worse than than any other FPS. I think people just get a bit twichy about in Arma because the game is so lethal and open and to be sure your safe you have to know whats going on 360Deg. It's a lot to deal with compared to most. As for implementing dynamic view distances, you may find a few community mission makers glaring at you over this one. Setting the view distance in a mission can be a usefull tool to help control events and prevent lag. Its cute but personaly I don't see any need for it as (a) the campaign isn't effected and there is usually enough time to change your view options before getting into a vehicle, and (b) there are already MP missions out there wich allow you to change settings mid game. Fantastic vid BTW, just wish I could understand cz. Well i consider Call Of Duty 4, even if it's not realistic or open view, it's better than Arma's. You actually can maneuver inside and outside of the buildings (even if it's same system as any other FPS on the market, at least it works! ) I especially like how you turn into the ironsight mode/running mode. In Arma same situation happens faster than in split-seconds..feels un-natural. The weapon just feels like it's tearing and swimming in the air.(as opposite moving smooth and feels in the hands! ) Now I shall stop debating  . But other than FPV I like what I see so far... PS. I consider the vehicle FP-view much better than soldier's FPV.
  19. and OFP2 will implent them all for a same price!

The problem with FP-view is that it's clunky and it doesn't support Close-Quartress Combat. Then it's possible that you missed some control possibilities. In close quarter battles you can zoom out the FP, by pressing - twice (at least in my config...). This is perfect for CQB! Note: Doesn't work for weapons with 2d scopes (sniper rifles, etc.) I hope that you don't think that the current OFP2 FP is realistic! But I don't want to discuss this issue here... Thanks for the link to the new video, Maa and Gaia!!! Hell no @ OFP2 FPV (agreed) , but ARMA's problem was that when you move, while aiming, sidewise or backwards or forward, you name it, your weapon sways like forward+back+forward, I hope you know what I mean. It is sometimes very hard to get concetrated, when your weapon animation is like that. (the scope sooms in the eye and out). or when you walk sidewise, the weapon swings tearing from the screen and so does the crosshair (i don't see any crosshairs IRL! I know from experience you can keep that weapon much steadier while moving! And when your not aiming, you can only see the pipe 24/7. You either lower it or aim with it! also because the guns are so detailed, I want to see them on my freaking screen (not the pipe! because this game is supposed to be about tactical realism and shooting. (I won't feel that I shot a gun if I don't see it in full glory, but in OGR it was fun tho) It just doesn't feel right... I lose the immersion very easily...

That link isnt working for me. @Hoot: Are you sure you weren't  playing with some kind of mod? I never remember having an AI surrender to me. Then again maybe I never really gave them a chance. It requires flash-player...you sure you have it?

    Things ArmA II needs

I think we all agree on this: ARMA 2 needs seriously re-work the way the FP-View looks and feels. BIS could easily adopt it for CQC situations and improve the immersion. (the gun looks like it's coming from the right side of the stomach! holy s**t. (as said lastly, I always found third-person view far immersive than FP-View) Â

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

You can forget about considering that to be a problem because Operation Flashpoint: Elite actually has very comprehensive and well tuned controls, and since ArmA uses a similar control scheme I can see the translation working perfectly on this generation of consoles. I still don't get it how can we lead our 64 men army with console controls?!!
