I figured a thread specific to the Islamic State would be appropriate rather than have discussion spread across multiple threads. What are your thoughts on the Islamic State? Today, they made a statement regarding the "nonbelievers". "O America, O allies of America, and O crusaders, know that the matter is more dangerous than you have imagined and greater than you have envisioned. We have warned you that today we are in a new era. If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, kill him in any manner or way however it may be. Rig the roads with explosives for them. Attack their bases. Raid their homes. Cut off their heads. Do not let them feel secure." http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/09/22/islamic-state-new-threat-to-west/16035335/

Is there any ArmA fan out there who is interested in this game but does not yet have it? I have an extra Steam code that I am willing to give away. First person to claim will receive it.

I would like to congratulate the team behind Carrier Command: Gaea Mission for their hard work and release of Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. I've been watching for reviews and I have found one that gave the game an 8/10. Pretty good if you ask me. :) Now you guys get to relax a little and have some fun! :dancehead:

How many hours have you racked up playing ArmA II? Steam shows that I have 136 hours. I also have about 50 mores hours tacked onto that. I used to launch the game without Steam, but now I use Steam to track my playtime. :P How many hours do you have?

I've noticed too that when you fire your weapon in the forest areas, all the animals in the surrounding area seem to go quiet for a while. Presumably the sound of your weapon scares them. Maybe not, but it sure seemed like that happened the few times i tested it.

Wow. Amazing. This map is so beautiful and the performance is spectacular with everything set to ultra. Getting about 50 fps which is fantastic.

I'm sure there are a select few government officials in Saudi Arabia that are definitely supporting ISIS. Just like how some of them supported Al Qaeda and helped fund the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. There's a reason why some of that intelligence is still classified.

I'm sure most of you have been hearing about North Korea in the news lately. First, they've undergone a third nuclear test despite criticism from various other world leaders. Now they're claiming the armistice is invalid and has even threatened nuclear war. Sorry if I misunderstood anything in any of the articles. Just curious about what all of your thoughts are on the current situation.

Eden Editor: Connecting

I haven't noticed anything changed with the textures, there is also nothing in the changelog about them. But the 3D editor is something I've been wanting for years. Finally able to make a detailed mission without constantly having to preview it to make sure everything is in place.

Is it just me or are the new sounds too quiet?
Nicholas replied to HeroesandvillainsOS's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It took a while to get used to them, but after playing for a while and cranking the volume up, I really prefer the new sounds. -
I've been waiting for Wildlands as well as The Division. Both look incredibly fun. Wildlands reminds me of MGSV, only without the various sci-fi enemies. I hope it is similar to the openness of MGSV. Hate to say it, but you're right. Pretty much all of Ubisoft games out within the past few years have had a crazy amount of micro-transactions.

USMC to spend $225M on new amphibious combat vehicles
Nicholas replied to eddo36's topic in OFFTOPIC
Never quite understood why we pay people to develop PROTOTYPES. Maybe I should start a company and get some government contracts to build a "prototype" of some kind and earn all kinds of cash. Maybe charge them exorbitant amounts for some sort of technology advances.  Still can't believe we PAY these people to develop something, when they should develop it on their own dollar and EARN our purchase or contract. -
The Russian warplane, although in Turkey's airspace, obviously did not have any malicious intentions. It should not have been shot down, especially when it was only passing through the airspace. I feel that Turkey should be removed from NATO.

Rockstar Games recently released Grand Theft Auto III onto Android and iOS devices. The game was released in 2001. Operation Flashpoint, now ArmA: Cold War Assault, was also released in 2001. I think if Rockstar Games managed to get GTA III, an open-world game, onto tablets and phones, Bohemia Interactive could try the same with ArmA: Cold War Assault. The ASUS Transformer Prime was also released recently, it features the NVIDIA Tegra 3, a quad core processor...for phones and tablets. It's amazing how far technology has come since 2001. What was once stuck sitting on our desks, can now fit into the palm of our hand. I believe with some effort, Bohemia Interactive could get ArmA: Cold War Assault onto phones and tablets. What do you think?

I was surprised to see that this has not been posted, but they have killed a Chinese and Norwegian hostage. Both countries have condemned the killing with China vowing revenge. I guess you could say that all of the world super powers are now involved with these terrorists. Got about 9 hours into the game and I've just been having a blast building my settlement and exploring the wasteland. Haven't really proceeded far into the main quest yet. The texture resolution is completely garbage, maybe they will release an HD texture pack like they did with Skyrim. No crashes or slow downs....yet.

As Semiconductor has said, there have been hundreds of threads similar to this one in the past. No need for another.

Whats happened to this community
Nicholas replied to gaz1971's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I feel it was partially because DayZ brought in lots of new players. Before DayZ, people bought ArmA to actually play ArmA. Most of them bought it this time around because of DayZ. Steam may have also put ArmA in the spotlight some more. Nothing wrong with being in the spotlight, but it sure does bring in a lot of filth with the good. I've been here for quite a few years now, and I refuse to join a community. I found that a lot of the communities require ridiculous commitments that I simply do not have time for. -
Both the US and UK government are thinking it was a bomb that caused the plane to go down. Possibly planted by ISIS. They've released it on mobile devices too, I must say it is really fun to play on your phone as well. Google Play Store Apple App Store

This is historic. Been watching on the Deep Space Network for some time now. Orbital trajectories don't really change much and are quite predictable. Definitely exciting though!

I'm glad to hear this. Hopefully the trade embargo as well as travel restrictions can be completely removed.

I believe that there is a time delay when it comes to being banned. I'm pretty sure it's the same way with Valve's VAC. Sometimes it may take weeks in order for a ban to go into effect. I've never been banned by VAC or BattlEye so I can't say for sure on the time delay.

I don't think BE can see what programs you have installed, only programs that are currently running. You must have had cheat engine running or attached to ArmA. I have Cheat Engine installed as well and have never had any issues. But I also never use it within ArmA, or any online games for that matter. Cheat Engine is a rather useful program, not only used for cheating.
