Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Psilocybe replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Hey guys, quick one, Ive got a 7970 gpu and I am still using my now ancient phenom II 965 BE. Will I see any noticeable difference by getting the 8350? -
Of course I have, my issue is the AI controlling the tanks have TOO MUCH peripheral awareness, especially accentuated in an urban environment where infantry should have the upper hand with so many blind spots to exploit from many many concealable positions. My question was is it possible to limit the AI's awareness when in armored vehicles. Are they forced to 'see' from the ports we would when controlling the vehicles in first person?
-
I am not talking about PVP im talking AI.
-
Ah! Well, at least I am not going mad :D Any tips on the NoAi usage?
-
Hey guys, been playing with this for a while, just wondering what real use the NoAI has, it indicates for flanking better etc, however I am obviously using it wrong, I assume its meant to be used as a switch IE, NO Ai while they flank, then back to AI on otherwise, they're just picked off with no retaliation... Also, Struggling to get the Artillery to work I have placed both a static and a manned MLRS on map with nul=[this] execVM "scripts\UPSMON\MON_artillery_add.sqf"; in their Init lines. (for the static i also have a squad in fortify ~20m from vehicle). I have set a trigger, Radio Alpha, with KRON_UPS_ARTILLERY_WEST_FIRE = true; the unit still does not assist by raining artillary. The unit is ~2.9km away from the detected enemies. Any thoughts? (I have also tried putting the arty at extreme range in case it was within its min range).

I have some decent headphones and some logitech speakers. When through the speakers, sounds very mediocre, when through the headphones it is absolutely next level (like the videos), so, try giving the mod a go with different speakers/headphones or settings. Great work, really looking forward to some further tweaked versions!

Sounding very nice, once you sharpen up the samples/fix levels etc we are all going to be in for a really big treat. Thankyou for your efforts, will continue to support you all the way through!

Ha! So dreams do come true :D

SpeedOfSound Mod (Beta)
Psilocybe replied to bigpickle's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Wow. This sounds absolutely amazing, the atmosphere it will create when you hear you are taking distant fire with loud cracks around you. STILL looking forward to this release. When its ready, its ready, but how far do you feel you are from pushing something out. -
Unfortunately for me, A3 has begun crashing consistently, usually within the first 5-10 minutes of launching it. Crash is a complete system lockup, screen blackout with the game sound also freezing and stuttering for about 5 seconds before going quiet. Crash always requires a reboot with no ctrl alt delete to assist. Seems to be isolated to A3. I have thus far, uninstalled and reinstalled latest, and beta drivers for my 7970. Monitored the heat of my CPU/GPU. Tried various settings in A3 including shadows off and vsync off. Tried Dev build and back to regular. Tried playing with and without mods. This was not happening in Alpha. My crash log: Hopefully I can get some assistance.

Thanks smoke, thing is, Ive been running everything without a hitch for about 5 months with this GPU and all of a sudden things have gone haywire(and I have since discovered many many many identical cases, including time until card died with the 7970). Tomorrow I am going to go exchange it, thank god for Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the card falls under "major fault" and as such I am entitled to a repair, refund or replacement, and I shall be opting for the replacement, going to say goodbye to ATI for a while I think.
-
Yep, done all that too. No luck Medic. Thanks. Been googling my GPU and it seems to be that lots of people have the exact same problem with no relief in sight.
-
Ok, here you go:
-
Not exactly sure what I should be looking at with that medic, any assistance? Tried using driver sweeper and going back to an old, stable GPU driver, same deal. Google has shown me people having similar issues with their 7970's after a few months too, hope its not the case, I just purchased it in March, its never been OC'd so perhaps I am eligible for warranty replacement. I might chuck my old GPU in and test that over the weekend, any more assistance will be greatly appreciated!!
-
Put the Corsair Tx650. Issue remains. I hope my GPU isn't fried or somthing, its less than 6 months old.
-
Okay, thankyou perhaps it is on its way out. Going to get a Corsair TX650 tomorrow and see if it helps! Thanks.

No, single GPU. phenom II 965 BE 7970 3g Windows 7 990fx Ext.4 Mobo 16gb ram (cant remember specifics here, but it was the best I could get at the time, and that was about 7 months ago) All my testing so far has been in editor even with minimal squads. My PSU is quite old and somebody suggested this may be causing some issues, especially since it seems be more and more frequent now (the crashing) so I will give that a shot. Vsync is off.
-
So while A3 seems to crash intermitently, i have now discovered it is not isolated to A3. DoW2 and Spacehulk are also crashing on me, however they only do so if I idle and do not touch the keyboard/mouse. Just did the windows memory diagnostic test and it came back clear after 1 pass, will try several overnight to see if I find anything to do with my Ram. Again, monitoring my GPU temp, seems fine sitting in mid 60's low 70's(as a max temp), CPU remaining cool too. A good dose of compressed air has been shot through to no avail. Virus/Malware has come through clean. I am really at a loss as to what is happening and what steps I can try next.

Report (part 2/2):
-
OK, will do, will try a run completely 'stock' no parameters/mods again. Just tried updating my soundcard drivers too. Well. Just ran it for the longest I have in ages. Longest since installing JSRS2 in fact. I will continue to test it, but It seems to be the culprit. Günter Severloh, I am in your debt! Thankyou firstly for helping me, second for being a person who looks in the troubleshooting forum in the first place. ---------- Post added at 04:41 ---------- Previous post was at 04:08 ---------- No sooner had I written that above, that the crash again reared its ugly head :( Behold, the latest report(part 1/2):
