  1. old comment but I'll bite and make a reply. ahmen please pass the rolls. I admit to being a Day Z player. Invested in Arma (1) and didn't much like it at the time for the crazy camera control but things have much improved in Arma ][ which I wasn't even aware was released until I heard of Day Z. As someone who's done his time around the block in various other mod communities from HL to UDK that's a shortcoming I've noticed with a few mods that suffer sudden change to base code. lots of problems in development could be avoided if [mod] developers treated base code like it was protected with a child safety lock. things like weapon tables or world damage (object health) get tweeked all the time by engine devs and then coders have to fix it when every destructible object disintegrates when a map loads. thankfully most worth while mods A) have tact to not scream bloody murder at the people who made their engine and B) plan for this kind of contingency now a days. When I worked on mods though I talked with a few coders and its one of the bigger frustrations when the producer/team lead said "make it work" by skipping on a few details like this. for my fellow Day Z players if you don't like the change then suggest to Rocket that he get his own weapon tables written up that aren't dependent on the BIS code base. I'll agree that the small arms category of PDWs, pistols and shotguns have been nerfed but that can be fixed if Rocket tweaks their table data or just rolls back the whole file to the previous state instead of explicitly linking to it. Don't complain about a game that is 75% free. About the only thing that is required to play the mod is AO and the rest of the content is borrowed from Arma Free and 2 [light] DLCs. we'll probably see a lot of performance boost out of the game anyway once he makes it so we don't need any of those code/asset libraries. if he could get it to a point where all we need is Arma Free then mission accomplished its actually a stand alone though I wonder if BIS would let hims sell it at that point. Guys [bIS]? Opinions?

    disable cinimatics

does anyone know how to skip cinematic sequences? I'm having some problems with my mouse and I've been testing it on the SP missions (fancy way of saying i'm forced to replay a mission because I'm loseing, but hey) every tweak i make (after i die) i'm forced to watch the same sequence over and over again and its getting a little old.

    max mem connection woes

well I was having a really seriouse graphics problem where when i was walking or in cars the screen would go white foggy past localy relivent geometry (weapons, car geometry or HUD elements ect) sometimes it would clip in and out or artifact to a vanishing point in the distance. I tried to restart the game but I ended up getting an error " could not create system surface memory" or sum such bs which lead me to the MaxMem work around however once i added that to the shortcut I got a new problem. when i loaded the game I didnt even make it into an MP match, it would sit at the status bar of downloading content and a yellow chain apears over the dissconnect button. I assume this means i lost connection but I tested it without the string (on the same server) and connected just fine short of the afore mentioned problem... any thoughts? EDIT: the webpage acidentialy submitted the thread before i was finished writting. now we have the complete though.

Game halts for 2/3 seconds when I access Gear

I've played both the gemren and demo versions, I would have thought that they had fixed this problem by now. I ended up tossing my germen version to one of my friends because of this problem [plus a really crappy ping] but I like the game enough to keep playing I think I'm going to shelf it for a bit till they get this fixed though...

    ingame menu lags

to answer the questions, 1) never, I have a factory installed OS and as of yet i haven't had any seriouse reason to reinstall (very serious windows failures) I do 3d graphics so i needed a powerful rig hehe. I've also got to much stuff and not enough places to put it. if i formatted to reinstall windows I'de lose about 40 gigs of stuff =/ I'm usualy an acomplished enough user to fix problems that pop up. 2) well I live in the middle of nowhere rite now, my connection is routed to a satilite dish farm in town that hasn't been updated since 95' so where i may have a fast connection its really lantent so in playing the germen version I connect to germen severs. my ping is 300+ at least on the demo i can get a 100 ping or better if i'm lucky.

    ingame menu lags

I’m having a problem with the demo. Ever time I start it up if I need to check my equipment or my map each time I bring up those menus I am slammed with screen lag. My FPS drops to 0 for a few seconds and then everything is back to normal as if it never happened. It doesn’t just happen in game too, I have to wait for this lag to pass when joining a sever while I wait for the lobby menu to load or the multiplayer server window. My system specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (2.4 Ghz) Nvidia Quadro FX 3450/4000 SB X-Fi 2 GIG mem Although my system is dual core I doubt that is the problem. I don’t have this problem on the full version I bought. (Germen + English add on = SWEET! I tried a fix I found by adding “-maxmem=768†to the target path of the shortcut. That makes it load a little faster but I still get hit with the menu lags. Any help is appreciated, Ryoku
