Killing the leader of an opposing force gives you a good 3-5 seconds untill the next leader start giving out targetting commands for the group (namely you).<span id='postcolor'> Often, when you shoot the leader, the remaining squadron tends to flee. Or atleast, this is what I usually find. So shooting the squadron leader first is an absolute "must". After you've taken out the leader, you'd better concentrate your fire at the squadron's automatic weapons soldier (eg. the machine gunner ), as he can give you a lot of trouble too. Then taking out the Grenadier would be a good idea, as this will severely cripple the squads fire power. Then you can just pick off soldiers more or less at will. EDIT: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Nyles @ Dec. 27 2002,16:43)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Officers tend to pick me out.<span id='postcolor'> I noticed this too. Is it really like this? I have always liked that my role isn't any bigger than any of my teammates, but this makes it seem more like other games where you are the hero and main character.<span id='postcolor'> This is because the officer's skill level is higher than the skill level of his squad mates. They are just more accurate and can spot you over longer distances. This is why it appears they are picking you out.

<span id='postcolor'> Sniping out of the back of a moveing chinook? I'm pretty sure that would fuck up your aiming<span id='postcolor'> + also, would it be possible for the AI to let you snipe out of the back of a chinook? Oooooo, fantastic idea alert!!!! If you are in a chinook, you have a GET OUT and EJECT command. If you press EJECT, you just throw yourself out of it, like normal, but, GET OUT could make you stand up inside of the chinook and walk around. Also, when the chopper has landed it would make getting out of the chinook a lot more realistic because you would have to walk out of the ramp at the back to get out. Good idea? (I doubt its possible mind)<span id='postcolor'> Yews, I was thinking about this with the Nam pach helo too. wouldn't it be possible to have the get out spawn of the helo inside its cargo section? Then the soldiers will have to walk out of the chinook which will be cooler and will offer them more protection when landing in a hot LZ.

Anyway, I've been following IL2 for ages and started getting interest a few months before the demo got released. I got the demo when it was first released and immediately fell in love. Then I got the "Gold" game when it was first released and I'm still loving it. I can't wait for FB though, it'll be amazing. And as to those screenshots with the I-16 falling on the chute, were you the one that also posted those screens on the IL2 boards a while ago? I've seen those before and thought they were quite hilarious back then. Oh, and Jamesia, I provided a link to the FB screenshots section in my original post. It should bring you right to the screenshots page. Have fun!

To do everything to serve it and the people living in it, even to die. And I`m still deadly serious with this oath. Now it get`s a bit complicated and I hope my english won`t fail me, so you understand: In my opinion I swore to protect our nation, not only the phrase "Germany". A nation is formed by the people and it`s no matter how it`s called. I would die for the people not for the phrase. Dying for a word is just stupid. And it`s no question that I would die for my family or my friends or beloved ones. I`d rather die than see them getting hurt. Sacrificing your life for another one that can continue living because of you is the greatest present you can make someone. But I hope I can avoid such selfsacrifice in future. Living with your people is better than dying for them. Death should be always the last option, but I hope that when my time has come I can face it with dignity.<span id='postcolor'> Very well said! I fully agree.

And theres some other Russian plane, its a heavy bomber.  It has an open cockpit, and looks sort of boxy.  I forgot the name, but it looks really cool too.  I think it was the T-3 or something, I dunno. And the British Hurricane looks really awesome too.  In fact, I'm looking forward to all the lend-lease planes. Now I need to buy a new joystick! Wo0t!<span id='postcolor'> Ah yes, the TB3 Russian heavy bomber. I'm also looking forward very much to the Heinkel He-111H-2. The plane I'll be flying will either be a Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4 or Focke Wulf FW-190D-9 though. Probably the Dora 9, as it will require a lot of skill to pilot effectively in a dogfight. Have you guys seen the new water effects? The water looks amazing and really life like! Or the new cruisers and battleships? Oh, you might want to check out (for the ones that didn't know yet) this site: http://www.il2center.com. Here you will find the planes that are being constructed by 3d party modelers. You should go on the forums and check out the screenshots section. Take a look at the Tempest paintwork #4 thread or the screenshots of the P-80 Shooting Star or Gotha Go-229. They look marvellous, don't they? EDIT: Good to see these boards are still so active btw!

Ah, and it seems the OFP community hasnt gotten rid of me yet either. I still play OFP on a regular basis, together with IL2 and I'm still in love with both games. I love the huge infantry battles you can have in OFP. It's unlike aything any other game has. It's like the missing link among games. *Sees placebo mumbling something like: "...damnit, didn't we get rid of that guy? ..."* PS. Who else loves that Resistance sniper?

Yea, I'd love to see some mobsters with a modified Thompson Submachine gun (also refered to as a "Tommygun" ) with that nice round drum and extended barrel with an extra handle slapped on . And we'd need a sawed off shotgun ofcourse!

You are? See, I have this problem...

Wouldn't it be a better idea to have a moderator pin a topic with the title "Best addons" and have only one guy (mods remove posts other people make) post the best addons available to date? This way we could keep track of all good quality addons out there. The man/woman (;)) posting in the thread could update the first post time and time over again adding new addons.

I wish that guy would just use a .ZIP format like everyone else or just submit his addons to one of the major OFP sites like ofp.gamezone.cz so they can host the addons.  But if anyone has these addons, if you can put them up on the web somewhere in ZIP format that would be great.  Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD><span id='postcolor'> Well, if all else fails, you can always install winace (http://www.winace.com?) but it's much more difficult to use than winzip and I just got back to Winzip after having used winace.

Do you need any addons to play it? EDIT: Blah, never mind. You need the editor addon (which I will not install because OFP can go FUBAR).
