in that case you must have been hanging around in some very juvenile forums debating some truly asinine topics in a very immature way. What? Read it again Ex-R. (You're kinda treading on my point here!) :

Won't be long `til every country in Europe has had its big media trial though. Germany just had its cannibal case, here in Britain we just had the Soham murder trial (fallout from which is still landing), not sure how the Swedish media are handling the guy who shot the foreign secretary ... How long before we all have televised trials and the other trappings of mob justice?

Anyone else noticed that Ralph Nader is an anagram of `rap handler'? Was hoping it was going to be `panhandler'. One letter out.

Was there not suspected to be a similar paedophile ring in Southern France a year or two back, thought to include prominent people in local politics and law enforcement? iirc there was a ritual component to some of the murders. Damn, wish I could remember more ...

I totally hated AA. Apart from the iron sights view which was really well done imo, good use of breathing sway etc.

Nah, the FDF doesn't need landmines, just more Molotovs!

As the biggest nuclear threat to the US currently comes from terrorists or rogue states without ICBM capabilities and given that SDI doesn't even work then wtf is the point? All because Ronald `Darth' Reagan watched too much Star Wars in the 80s ...

This is a fab idea, but just to be a party-pooper for a second: I don't think it would be wise for anyone <18 (certainly <16) to arrange to go and stay with people they don't know personally, nor would it be very wise for any older peeps to take in minors - just in case they or a demented relative start making wild accusations, not that I think you're all `strange' (you know what I mean). With that caveat it's a spiffing idea. Being temporarily without a residence of my own (hopefully only for another few weeks) I can't put people up right now but I am happy to offer advice on what to see in the UK etc. etc. to anyone that wants. Just send me a message or post here.

That's a good article Kevbaz. I currently use AdAware and Spybot (although so far AdAware hasn't ever picked up on something Spybot missed). After reading that I'm currently d/ling SpywareBlaster too. `Cause I f****** hate spyware.

Two by a country mile. Sorry whoever made one, it's kinda nice but ... mind you I can't even tell what two is. Are my eyes getting old and feeble or does it say `Operati' instead of `Operation'? Anyway, kudos to both artists.

lmao! However, it seems there is another side to this story: http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/~susan/joke/kanga.htm

I don't care what anyone says, Russian helo's are the best! And the most value for money.

I have zero problem with it either. He who lives by the sword etc. etc. (btw, "Aaron Sharon" would be a much cooler name!)

He must have been a remarkable man to get the state of government in Macedonia to where it is now. It's not that long (less than 20 years according to my old history teacher) since parliamentary meetings in Macedonia used to degenerate into gunfights, with members shooting at each other from the benches.

You're unlikely to find many people who disagree with hunting foxes using guns, especially for reasons of population control. The controversy starts with the use of packs of dogs instead. But prob'ly best we don't go down that path ...

Well, this is very old now and probably familiar to most but if you like the penguin game you could try Stair Dismount . The site also has the sequel, `Truck Dismount' but I prefer the first one. NB: These aren't browser games, they require d/l and install but they're nice and small, especially for broadband users.

iirc Talvisota (Winter War) is not too hard to get hold of for US DVD but a bitch to track down for us Euro's. Dark Blue World / Tmavomodry svet is a Czech (possibly Anglo-Czech) production about Czech pilots who flew Spits for the RAF during WW2. I think it's a t'riff film, the cinematography is beautiful and the performances are great. Well worth a look. No Man's Land is a Bosnian film about the conflict there. Also very good, lots of rather bitter allegory but some very funny moments along the way. Recommended viewing.

Depends what you mean by Communism. Do you, for example, include Trotskyism? Stalinism? Or just Marxism? What about Marxist Leninism? Once you get beyond the dogma to the practicalities there's not always a lot of similarity between them. Most of the places its been seen in the world communism has just equalled a dictatorship of the proletariat. But that doesn't mean that's the only manifestation of communism possible. Capitalism's big advantage is a well-defined reward structure. You work because you get paid to work, you work well because you get paid more if you work well. In situations where the proletariat have to work hard without getting paid well (relative to the rest of society, their employers etc.) they will resort to communism as their best option. (Witness Spain in the 1930s.) If enough people fall behind the curve and convert to a philosophy of social revolution, you get one.

One advantage the Comanche did supposedly have over the Apache that's not been mentioned is proper modular hardware - i.e. if one part conks out the other systems could supposedly take over its workload. As well as improving survivability it makes maintenance easier. A plug & play helo! That was the plan anyway, how far they got towards implementing it I dunno. But remembering how much time Apaches spent grounded in Bosnia by technical snafus it wouldn't be a bad thing. Personally I always thought the Comanche was an overpriced white elephant. Nice idea but in terms of cost effectiveness you might as well start making X-wing fighters!

Here we go, it made the 14:00 headline. Apparently Putin thinks Russia "needs a new government before next month's presidential elections". Also says it's about "pushing ahead reform". Hmmm.
-
wtf I don't like this at all! I'm scanning the TV news channels though and none of them seem to be carrying it yet.

Oh lol! If TBA has any sense at all they'll nix that straight off. If a big gold statue of GWB goes up, not only will it draw uncomfortable parallels between him and Saddam but if and when it starts getting vandalized by the locals it'll be all over the news.
-
Seize power and let the rivers run red with the blood of the non-believers.
-
Hey, be grateful that the guy had the wits not to just start making big gold statues of GWB!
