obviously you don't know much about that show... and btw I might have been drunk and I don't see any problem with it. I'm possibly drunk again tonight
-
we have SEB NAM too... so why should they bother even making vietnam? I was really waiting for Africa... and as one of my friends said yugoslavia would be just perfect.
-
I really hope most of it won't be based in vietnam. when do the developers (with this I mean other companies not just BIS) abandon Vietnam and WW2 and go on with Korea or something. maybe WW1
-
I just noticed that there's info about weapons in "gear" section of mission briefing. too bad you can only look the info on the available weapons for the missions. they also have to be given to a soldier to get the "i" button for the weapons. the info contains short history and details like weight, caliber etc
-
well I think it would be good for people who don't want to read books or stuff but are still interested in those things.
-
I've never seen a road lower than the surrounding areas.
-
mafia has carcyclopedia and original H&D has a little info on every weapon in campaign and mission equipment selection. I don't see any problem in adding it to OFP too.

Handling cqb: the cqb "stance"
PainDealer replied to Friedchiken's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
imo the only problem is that OFP was never made for CQB. why should they waste so much time on this kind of feature when 95% of the action is outdoor shooting and 75% of it long range. I don't think it will have that big role. (good idea though) -
this could give us the ability to dig foxholes
-
but why? if the objective is on that island you can still complete it. getting away from the island would be a bit delayed IRL. the guy who makes the mission could think of that kind of situation and add backup extraction. like a boat. that way it would be a little different every time you play.

Im hit! oh my god i've been hit!
PainDealer replied to Impavido's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I gotta agree a little with IceFire. If someone gets hit in the chest it's damn sure he won't be running around full speed. and I think crawling would be very painful too. -
and that's the very thing that makes it more interesting. that's how it is in real life too. if the pilot dies that's just tough luck. try to figure out how to carry on.
-
and that's why the offline training would be welcome. imo the different classes should be specialised on different areas. that's what I like in wolfenstein. engineers blow things up or repair/construct something, medics heal and officers call for support.
-
as a matter of fact I've been thinkg about that too. well they should at least make it possible to attach the bombs to vehicles. actually that's possible in some mods. FDF for example.

Im hit! oh my god i've been hit!
PainDealer replied to Impavido's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I agree with the head shot. but as stated earlier all the hits in chest aren't fatal. to make it more realistic we need bleeding...bleeding...bleeding...bleeding...bleeding... you feel yourself tired...bleeding...bleeding...*snap* you're asleep and totally under my command. bleeding...bleeding... ah hell that doesn't work -
deja-vu

I don't think they allow long hair in any army...?? anyway there are civilians and their hair could be done the same way as ragdoll effect *thinks of some girls running on fields with their golden hair dancing in the warm summer wind...BANG! "where the hell did that come from?!?!"*
-
if we want it to be realistic (well I certainly do don't know about the others) there should be some limits in the unit's skills. how often do you see an engineer hop in a hornet and gun down few ruskies in a dogfight in real life?

Unit experience and attributes
PainDealer replied to TheManWithManyIdeas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Pathy you said it -
that's exactly what I was thinking of. imo there could be an option for the server admin to set "free mode". that way everyone could do what they want. or it could be defined by the map maker as well.
-
well there is some info about the new vehicles that came after CWC. anyway I think the idea of an encyclopedia is great maybe with some real pics of the equipment.

Unit experience and attributes
PainDealer replied to TheManWithManyIdeas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
doesn't that mean that you can still complete the game even if you get killed in every mission you play? or have I missed a point there? -
good idea but that would be a bit more difficult to do than restriction. and btw think about the difference between an ordinary soldier and a pilot. it would be hell lotta harder to fly a fighter for Pvt. Pyle than for an air-force pilot. in fact I think he wouldn't be able to even lift the damn thing. so "a bit clumsier" is way out of range there.
-
I'd say stick the units to their roles. pilots fly, tank crews operate tanks, medics heal. maybe some kind of training could be good to decide who can jump into pilot's boots and who can't.
-
I really hate the fact that every unit in the game knows how to operate every vehicle. it really makes pilots and tank crews just an eye candy doesn't it?
