and after that they "forced" us to drive the germans away. the germans retreated through lapland and burned it to ground and made it a hell of a minefield. after the war hundreds of soldiers were killed or wounded defusing those mines. definately not 100% accurate so feel free to correct it :P and btw those pics look great
-
finland is neutral nowadays and the last time they came across the war was originally started by the germans who were the only real bully back then :P now they are "less harmful"
-
well how many of those are ever gonna be finished properly... so many mods have come and gone. I've put so much anticipation in them but some seem to die or become "eternal projects"
-
you should join the MOD mentioned above it's too sad there are so many mod teams doing same stuff as the others when they could combine their efforts and even get something ready

THE UNSUNG MOD - communist campaign?
PainDealer replied to drow's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
apparently not -
the jamming might be too tough to simulate... btw are there gonna be the good ol' claymores (or grenade with a tripwire in a beer can for the VC)?
-
here in finland the minimum is 6 months for regular infantry (basics and specialities) - rank Pvt or Pvt 1st class. then there's 9 month program for a bit more special duties like MPs and such - same ranks. the 12 month program is for group leaders, officers and some other special stuff like transportation - group leaders Cpl or Sgt, officers 2nd Lt (I think) and the others outside of those Pvt or Pvt 1st Class. just made me wonder if there aren't so many things for them to learn
-
or the civil war in spain or finland ;)
-
sry my bad I have a terrible memory last summer I asked my cousin about the guns he got to fire and he said they didn't have much recoil btw you swiss guys have a strange military service is it like 3 months minimum?
-
of course if you get a direct hit from an RPG but not 10ft away
-
thinking of a classic drive by shooting? would be cool for crime city project LoL

THE UNSUNG MOD - communist campaign?
PainDealer replied to drow's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
well the vietnamese were fighting for freedom and the germans fought to rule the whole world so there's a slight difference -

Should the forgotten war: conflict in korea leave?
PainDealer replied to bmgarcangel's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
how's this mod doing atm btw? -
I play OFP and other war games cos I kinda consider them as a history lesson. I'd really like to go through all the major wars of the 20th century... why not a few of the 19th century too. the US civil war would be cool
-
omg have you been watching too much hollywood movies or what? do you even know how a grenade works? in movies you see flames above the trees when a nade goes off and ppl fly for like 30ft. no no no the fragments of the grenade drill deep into the target. kinda like a bullet. standing on a grenade when it explodes might rip your foot off if you're unlucky. and I have this strange feeling there is an open topic of game physics and graphics just above
-
o gee... there will be a day soon when multiple-CD games are considered as retro LoL I have nothing against DVD's but somehow my heart beats for the CD's
-
tried it out and I kinda think the rifles don't have enough recoil. never fired any swiss rifles but I'm sure they kick quite much. I have this strange feeling that there's something missing from the mod... yes! the swiss army knife!! that would be extremely cool :P
-
I'm really eager to try this out as my cousin did his service in the Swiss army year ago
-
I just don't get his point
-
and what the heck are you yammering about? I thought OFP was about realism
-
they should make both DVD and CD versions of the game. that should satisfy everyone
-
maybe they could first release the basic OFP2 with a fictional modern or nearly modern era campaign and then develop and release expansion packs for each past conflict. based on historical facts of course. that way they would have something to do after the game has been released. the result would be like "OFP2: The History Of War"
-
just what I thought: the oldies I remember hearing "Hey Joe" in Vietcong. it was quite cool during a chopper ride. all this dark crap like gothic should be left outside. they are cool ok but the old guitar based rock songs are just so made for this purpose slightly off topic: in FDF mod there's music by a finnish metal band Airut. it's cool but IMO doesn't quite match the feeling you have on the field just to make things clear it was just an example not feedback to the FDF team

is it just 40 men in a squad or 12 men in squad and 4 squads in a platoon or something like that? agreed but just have to remember that platoon leaders usually give orders only to the squad leaders
