Addons Ebud Generic African Soldiers PNT_OPFOR units & my vehicle pack WIP
-
The soldiers are Ebuds. You can download them from his Tonal withdrawl thread. They look very nice and add African Union Soldiers to West-, UN-Soldier to Independant- and "some other" soldiers to the East-side. Yeah they're based on the North Sahrani soldiers. I started the vehicle pack pretty much right after downloading his units and wanted to focus on the African theme. In the pack are some African Union vehicles as well and I'm planning to do some OPFOR vehicles for the East-side. From what I've read there are a couple of UN missions going on all over Africa so I hope there will be some "nice" missions. I gotta admit that I totally forgot about the "UN addons for ARMA"-thread. I don't have a problem giving them the textures I've already made if they want them. Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not planning a full fetched UN addon and right now they're nothing more than a few reskins. I'm also working on some african styled units which act as OPFOR. Ebud and I are looking on how to put both our stuff together. BTW. The PMCs are getting some interesting stuff added to them. After that is finished I think I'll release them alongside the SEK-units so I can focus more on the African units

Indeed . http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1253/pntopforebudun1yo3.jpg I just love these UN skinned LR's, great stuff Peanut . Thanks a lot. I slightly updated the LR's and added a Ural as well. Check the photography thread for a pic Regards Peanut

Addons Ebuds Generic African units from his Tonal withdrawl thread and some vehicles I made for them tba

Yeah they are just a reskin of the vanilla Opfor units but the feeling playing with or against them changes quite a bit. It's strange what sometimes a little reskin can do. You will hear more of the opfor units in the future
-
Thanks. I'll definately add some shorts, basecaps, different vests, shirts and other stuff if i'll ever learn modeling. I could reskin a civilian unit, but he'll be wearing flip flops and no vest at all and I don't think you want that Btw. Check the ArmA photography thread for more pictures of the OPFOR units

Actually they don't follow any style. They're not supposed to be recreations of any existing private military cooperation. It's just what I would think they could wear and appear like. I'm not qualified enough to actually recreate an existing unit. (except for the SEK units which started off as a side project/testbed but it looked kinda cool in game) I made it easier for myself and created Piper Protections. Right now they have two trucks and that little bird and an uncertain number of personnel. I pretty much add whatever I think fits them. The little bird got added so they can access the roofs with marksman teams You maybe right that that is what confuses people and sometimes even myself Brgrds Peanut

Addon: PNT Opfor Pack WIP
-
Like this? The pilot seems to like it as well Credits for the Pin Up go to George Petty though. I simply found it online. I never would be able to do something pretty like that News I finally got my tag registered at Ofpec. This is a huge step forward because I didn't want to release an addon without propper tags. My tag is PNT

PNT OPFOR Units I thought I put some more work on my shoulders and try myself on an OPFOR pack. Although I have to work on the pants because they are supposed to be "repro" DDR Strichtarn. The shirt is olive. I kinda like the look of the whole unit. The whole thing took me way too long by the way. I worked on it for ~3 hours. I screwed the hex-editing. I wanted to start off with three models. Waste of time.I had to hexedit them again-Test again-Crash again-delete the models-start again-screw up the.p3d again because my hex-editor took parts of the code away where I didn't even come near-fix it up and it finally worked. EDIT: Added another pic

you should Even if you don't, the pics actually inspired me to do some Opfor units. Not sure if they'll be "african" (easier and more likely since there a quite some faces ingame already) or "middle eastern" (harder, because I either have to convert existing faces and get permission for them or do my own middle eastern/arabic looking faces)

Only a small update

Deflection for AT weapons?
Peanut replied to ThePredator's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
While were are at it you could/should add a timer for the M203 grenades as well. They don't explode until they're over a certain distance. They should bounce as well before they are primed(?) . There is a video of units from one country firing another countries weapons in Afghanistan. There is a german soldier trying out a US M4 or M16 with M203. He aims to short and the grenade bounces off the ground until it finally explodes on target. Would like to see something like that in ArmA But I don't know if that type of grenade is still used. Anyone with more insight to this? Edit: Okay I just tried it for the 40mm grenade and it's a lot of fun letting the grenades bounce around corners . Doesn't work everytime though.... -

Private Military Contractors?
Peanut replied to Eddie16AAB's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
From what I've read it's possible to import OFP models when you have the MLOD (?) format of them. So you gotta write the original author to get it. And then rework some lods or something. But I've never tried to model (okay, I tried and failed) I'm working on reskinnning the MH-6 model so they have some air transportation. I don't have it ingame yet because I as of now I mainly removed the markings and recolered it in blue. Also there are issues with my config for it. It will mainly act as a place holder. -
Anyone tried easter? Maybe there are hidden eggs somewhere
-
PMC= Private Military Contractor or Private Military Company It's not my fault that this leads to misunderstandings.
-
Topic has been updated. See first post for new pictures. To answer a question I saw in the "general" PMC topic. It's possible to do the LBV without the body armor. You put a normal shirt texture over it, but it will won't look good in game

Private Military Contractors?

Because I took the pics at pretty random places. They just happened to be white. I had a couple ideas last night and try to incorporate them. Although the last time I had a nice idea it turned up rather ugly ingame. I tried to do a SORD Hardface jacket but it looked like #### ingame -
Private Military Contractors?

That would be this dude. Don't mind the baby blue shirt or the colors of the other stuff. That's all subject to change (The shirt is actually pretty cool in reality, I wear it right now ) He wears body armor and an LBV on top of that. If you like you can drop by my topic Link It includes a couple more pics and will be updated after the christmas holidays (maybe earlier) -
Private Military Contractors?

How is that? It's just a five minute recoloration though. Anyway I'm very open to suggestions of all kinds but please post in my thread if you have any. Even if they're of the "They look like donkey"-type. Different vests would be nice of course but at the moment thats not possible. I don't know if I'll ever add them when the tools get released since I never ever did some 3d modeling. I never textured before either, but that's another chapter. Btw.I actually have some pics of 5.11 pants, shirts and whatever already I'm pretty aware that they're being used. -
@ Ebud Those are looking great. Can't wait to get my filthy hands on them

The basic texture layout is the same for all units. (pants, shirt, boots and vest) Hats, hands and equipment is the same for RACS and US. It's one texture file for the hat and the hands as well the drop leg holster and then there is another texture file for their Camelback and the other stuff. The East/SLA layout is different. All their equipment including hats and bags/equipment is in one texture-file So it's fairly easy to swap US and Res equipment textures. The problem lies in the file names. When Hex-Editing the .p3d you are not allowed to add or take letters otherwise the file will be corrupted. Res has 3 letters and us (which are used as a prefix to the files) has two it wouldn't work. You have to rename files (even easier to swap textures then) or make the addon standalone. Edit: If that didn't answer you question, blame the beer I drank

The short sleeved dudes are RACS or res models. The one with boonie head is the res sniper model, the one with only a vest is the res_captive model Hope that helped
