    More realistic/depressing feeling

G4meM0ment in general its tenfold better if players can select and adjust their settings to what they like + feel good with and then they simply search/filter for mp servers with similar setup to enjoy their time with A3. Competitive matches are a bit different and need some (more) rules, good + strict admin(s) and perhaps a mission framework that all can agree with.
  2. Try to start A2OA without loading DayZ mod.

Well one solution for mp could be to select/filter option: "no effects" - "customized - see details" - "all effects". Its imo better if all players can select + adjust such effects to their own preferences ingame so they can test, see and "feel" them before joining a server and beeing forced to like something they don't want or can't really enjoy.

VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

Are the VME PLA Scud or some features of it "borrowed" from by Gigan's Scud? Btw no readme/credits....

Well the main goal of suppressive fire is basically to keep the enemy "pinned down" - preventing them to shoot, move and observe the situation. Machine guns and artillery are used to suppress the enemy with good effect. How does the suppressed feel - well depends of his own physical + mental conditions, training and what he is supposed to do. Most will tell you that they were seeking for hardcover, keeping their heads down and after a certain time trying to get back the initiative or figuring out how to stop the suppressive fire or how to leave the area. Some may have shaking hands and temporarily deafness until the "surving instinct" kicks in. This certain time of panicking isn't for everyone the same and doesn't depend on the rank/medals/achievements or marksman skills - one recovers fast, the other needs some seconds more and another just needs to be shouted/yelled (or kicked/pushed) at. Of course you cannot train for every situation but you can train to keep this panicking time as short as possible and get back to the mission. Imo good and believable suppressive effects are sound of bullets + impacts + explosions, orders shouted from TL, swearing from teammates and increasing "plings" of bullets/ricochets very close to the player. No need to have the vision stylish blurred, splattered with blood or dirt or even pulsing eyeballs. Let the player get his head or ass down on his own instead of forcing him into a color/camera sfx trip. :)

    Is Arma3 still the "Flagship"

Why should BIS follow or copy EA/Ubisoft stuff? Just that people will say "OMG these missions/maps are like in shooter 123465!!" ? How should people think about + perhaps remember A3?

    More realistic/depressing feeling

Well BIS just need to add proper info screen/window in mp browser so players can see + agree with customized setups before joining!

Maybe something like "suppressive effect" with a slider so the player can adjust it to his own preference?

So what about having such sfx and "gimmicks" as optional features for those who want or need them? Simple selection via "A3 grapic" / "A3 special effects" menu? :)

    Is Arma3 still the "Flagship"

Well the fact is that community made editors like 3DE from mapfact, RTE from i0n0s and MBG Creationism from Mondkalb are tenfold userfriendly + usefull than this ancient 2D OFP editor from 2001. Sorry but BIS devs need to think out of their own homebuild castle and at least make editing/mission making more userfriendly. Just think about making a base or something that have more than just 3-4 objects properly connected to each other, just tryout some of those [?] objects and see how different they appear eg size/direction in the 2D editor and preview.....

G4meM0ment there is a sticky thread for A3 wishes and ideas.... No need to open a new thread if you don't want to read + understand other opinions and discuss it.

@G4meM0ment imo such sfx are better left as an option for game / server setting and mission design. So everyone can simply choose how he want to play and what kind of extra sfx he needs on his screen. Getting hit or killed in A3 from a bullet in suppressive fire should be the most effective or deadly feeling anyway. Other things are up to one's individual handling of such situations and trained skills. No need to generalise things which are different from person to person. Let the A3 player test + decide what he likes and how he prefers to play. :)

@G4meM0ment - wrong assumption that everytime you are suppressed or "pinned down" your vision and accuracy is going nuts. Imo BIS need to get sound right and the AI suppressive fire feature. If you play with players who know how to use suppresive fire and know how to break through/away - you don't need such extras because you do act "accordingly" on your own. Another point is how good/bad the mission design is and how every player feels as "ingame character" or "just as player playing stuff"....

    More realistic/depressing feeling

Don't you think that the suppression effect is/can be very "lethal" ingame? Maybe its better to teach AI and some players how suppressive fire works instead of relying on artificial sfx + penalties? Sorry but i have to disagree with "The sound should be unbearably loud and shocking when bullets impact nearby or tear the air apart near your head..." - its not only loudness that makes one afraid its more of those distinct sounds and the increase of it. Beeing pinned down by enemy fire one can still have a crystal clear view and still be able to hear/listen to his teammates. Perhaps a "more drama" option + icon for mp browser can be made on request? :D

Its down to the player to decide if he is scared to death or if he is still able to manage the situation. Forcing visual camera sfx on him just for the sake of is imo the wrong idea. Similar if you would force music on players just to "increase the atmosphere" and make it more or less dangerous.... (or predictable) ;)

    More realistic/depressing feeling

SFX for example like camera and splatter effects should be + stay optional graphic effects so players have a choice to switch them on/off. Its not realistic or believable watching dirt/blood splashes or even scratches on your eyeballs. Most reasonable would be an fast eye-blinking incl. hand animation to clean your ingame eyes. Imo shooters are generally getting more and more of an hollywood action flick from a camera's view but not from actors/players eyeballs-view. Voices, sounds aswell as impact effects on ground/objects should be made that the player doesn't to have to need any of those camera/shooter sfx on his screen....

Xeno would you basically say A3 is "old wine in new skins" or "new wine in old bottles" ? ;)

Hehe thanks, well lets hope for the best AI soldiers + civilians (+ animals) of any Arma game!!

    Development Blog & Reveals

Like many other things AI is still in development.... this small battle was imo too calm and "clean" - at least one would expect the hear some contact reports and reports about wounded teammates. Perhaps in A3 AI reports/chatter can be simply selected via option menu eg "all"/"important/"none"?

    Mission Editor

W0lle sounds a bit like a old fossil (no pun intendet!) who just don't want a change because making missions out of the box could be different or even more userfriendly. Somehow similar to those people who think or claim that a better interface/GUI could harm their own build "throne & privileges" or dreams of it..... Guess how fast those "old" people are cool with new stuff if you just let them use it ? Guess how long it will take to hear something "If only we could have this back in the days...." ;)

    Arma 3 Action Menu

Hmm... proper working voice command and gestures would be another two options. Just something that doesn't clutter the screen and vision of player and feels more natural / "authentic". It would be great to have a customizable HUD setup in graphic options menu so everyone can choose what he wants and where he wants it on his screen. Of course there must have been some thoughts about SP+MP setup/difficulty. For example: are extra HUD elements allowed or should the player look on his cockpit controls/instruments? As for commanding lots of units something like "ingame commanding devices" (functional objects) with screen + interface would be great so the player can sit/stand behind them and give orders like its done in real (or close to it).

    AI Improvement

AI has to be on lowest difficulty because otherwise BIS devs don't have a chance to present new A3 stuff! Imagine for example Ivan fighting against "better" AI saying + showing something like "Ehhmm.... Errrmm... damn it... now now see it!!! No? Grrrrmll.... " ;)
