I 've about had it
Nightjay0044 replied to elevenbravo_11b20's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Your welcome elevenbravo. That's what makes OFP forums and the game so strong is because we all believe in this game even though yes it's only a game and we do have lives outside the game, but it is one of the best war games I've played and still do play. There are so many possibilities to Operation Flashpoint it's almost endless. Well if you have any more questions or anything just post in the forums..see ya around.. -
I checked out UNN's scripted mission. I thought it worked fine. Ofcourse there is a flaw in the whole action. Unn all it has in your mission is 2 triggers and the laser black op. So I thought, hmm there is not chopper or anything to test it out to blow something up. So I inserted a chopper (ah-64) and made it fly at it's present location of creation. Then as I previewed the mission, the chopper does fire at the spot where you aim the target also yes it only does fire the 8 hellfire missles. But here is the flaw. You have to point the laser atleast a certain amount of meters infront of the chopper. or else it wont fire it's missles. Well the good news it there is a way around this. Just give the AH-64 a waypoint order of seek and destroy with open fire and engage at will and combat mode and skill level high. Then you can get the chopper to fire anywhere you point that laser, doesn't matter where. Hope this helps anyone.

Okay, I'm just making a simple short mission to do some practice with. Here's my problem: >I've placed a BMP and named it "E1", (the bmp is way on the other side of the island to where my battle takes place) >Where my battle takes place I have a marker Called "marker1". How can I make the BMP teleport to the marker whenever I choose anytime in the mission? Like say if I want it to teleport there when the enemy soldiers are dead. I know that if you place a BMP, then place to markers on the map and then group (F2) the markers to the BMP, that will make it randomly start at one of those two markers. but what i want to do is only make the bmp get the position of the marker whenever I desire, and only one marker. Just to create some suprise, because I don't want the player to notice the BMP until they are in the main battle area. Otherwise it would be no fun.. Thanks

Okay yeah it worked. this is what I did. Placed the trigger that I want. Put your line of code in the on activation field.. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">{vehicle _x setpos getmarkerpos "marker1"} foreach units group East1 Then that made them all teleport over to my marker position. Thanks this one is solved.
-
Okay I tried your code..I put it in the same on activation field of the trigger I put your code <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">{vehicle _x setpos getmarkerpos "marker1"} foreach units group East1 That didn't work I played as the player in the mechanized group and I previewed it and it moved me underneath the tank. So I don't know if that works, or is there a certain spot where i have to put the line of code? Thanks
-
okay yes that worked. Well I tried putting down mechanized infantry squad. I did that and put that code in. Well it teleported all the soldiers including the crew inside the BMP but it did not teleport the bmp it's self. So the players didn't move to their next waypoint. So how do you make it so to teleport the tank and all the soldiers in the group. Thanks.

Hi, I'm in the beginning process of creating a rescue mission. What I would like for anyone who wants to reply is to give me all of their ideas in general on what they would expect from a rescue mission. Just any, think of what a rescue mission is and then reply with your thoughts. See mission creation is fun, but the hard part is trying to find a suitable plot, conflict and story telling sequence to not make it so boring. For example: Your mission is to follow your squad and attack the town of montignac or something like that. Well there you go, that's it, that has a beginning and a middle but obviously the end might be to just secure the town. Now personally I would just play that mission if I was bored and had nothing better too do. But do you see where I'm coming from here? It seems like mission making is slowing down in OFP right now. I want to bring back alive, well hopefully for me anyways and if anyone else wants too. Or maybe people start creating missions but never finish like me. So I say we start this new post and talk abou this a long way and use our minds to come up with something to help us mission makers out. Because I don't know about anybody eles but I have hard times creating missions. Thanks for your time..

Okay, thanks, now how would I do it for an entire infantry group to teleport to a marker?

Wait, what are you looking to find, something for multiplayer? Respawn? -
HI, I'm currently looking for some sniper units. Not the ones in Operation Flashpoint because they only have camoflough on their back and head I beleive. Could anybody provide me with a link or suggestions on where they are. The type of sniper units I'm looking for (if any) are ones that are "really" camo'd. As in they have camo all over their legs, their arms, body, and head area. Something that makes them hide so well that they only can really be seen if they move? Thanks all.

Hi, I would like to know where i can get some "free" no obligation no purchase of any sort voices that I can download that are realiable and good to use for OFP that you don't need to recruit a person for. Just voices that can be written in whatever words you wish to use for mission in OFP? Thanks all.

Hey all, thanks for your replies. I didn't really find anything too interesting that I could download. The USMC Code blue pack looked awesome though. didn't find a download link for that one, it may not be released yet.

Yeah, he's probably right more practice makes perfect accuracy. Although I never beat that mission. I always got shot down and then I tried destroying them all on foot. Killing enemy soldiers, trying to find LAWs etc. lol that didn't work too well.

I would really love to see an editing manual made for Operation flashopint, that either you can download online or buy in stores. I mean something that is well organized and thought up other then the OFP sites out there, which they are useful but we need an editors manual that covers pretty much all aspects of mission editing from placing simple individual units all the way to advanced scripting and external editng. Something with photos, tones of examples codes, detailed expalainations for peopel to understand and everything. I have this vision of an OFP manual If people could converse about this with me especially official BIS Members that would be great, because I would really love to see one, and I'm sure other people would too. THanks guys..

BIS? Editing Manual?
Nightjay0044 replied to Nightjay0044's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Yeah, I agree, it's a resource. But it's not all there and not user friendly. We need something that explains something from start to finish. Such as: Get a soldier to move from here to here. Get a soldier to kill this unit or this unit. Get a soldier to throw his granade at this unit or this unit. Get a soldier to snipe off an enemy from a far distance. Such like that examples with compelte detail and user friendly illustrations and walkthroughs and tips and such. That would be really nice to have a huge manual on that online or in a book or something and not just scattered all over OFPEC, which OFPEC is not a bad website I love that site along with other sites out there, I"m just saying for something to get us to understand more. Please don't respond saying, well why don't you do it; why because I don't have the resources and knowlegde too like BIS would with all there people and resources or such as OFPEC as they do. So there is some more input on that... -
Okay everyone, I might need some help with this. That is why I'm asking for assistance. Okay, I want to be a master editor someday. One of my solutions is I need to know what are all the aspects in mission editing? Lets start with my examples: I classify mission editing into 2 different categories, "Internal" and "external". INTERNAL These are everything inside the mission editing interface. Such as: 1) Units, groups, waypoints, triggers, syncronization, markers, all the way to init fields, on activation fields, condition fields, game logics, all that fun inside editing focus. EXTERNAL EDITING This is for all the editing on your desktop, outside of the internal interface. such as: 1) Description.ext file, init.sqs, scripting, cam scripting, sounds and music etc. Now my question is to you is: Did I miss anything? What are your beleifs in all the aspects of mission editing or did I pretty much cover them all? Thanks all.

BIS? Editing Manual?
Nightjay0044 replied to Nightjay0044's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Trapper~ Yes, actually I do have this for the enlish version. I got mine when I Bought the gold upgrade in stores years ago. Ah it's all right. I went through it. It's not that great. I'm not saying it's not useful, which it is. I'm talking about something more complete. Thats' just my vision on the whole thing. Complete as in,it gives you step-by-step illustrations and photos on basic editing, advacned editind, scripting and such. That's basically what I mean. Something that will not make you ask a bunch of questions and you can learn on your own, and maybe with some help. There's more of my theory on that. -
BIS? Editing Manual?

Yeah that would be cool. Something that is complete with great walkthroughs on every aspect of editing. Okay, we can all keep this topic going if you wish. -

BIS? Editing Manual?

Chris Death~ <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">it also doesn't make an comercial sense for BIS trying to sell something, where the majority would say: why bothering to pay for something, what i can get free from the web  Hey yeah good point. I understand that, and beleive me I had that concept kind of in my mind before I posted this thread. But it was worth a try,and maybe some day I will come out with an editing manual from start to finish.  Yeah there are lots of sites out there to help you. Exactly you can get it for free, which may be more time consuming then a complete editing manual from BIS. I'm just had the vision of a complete one with everything compiled into one big understanding manual with all of OFP editing glory. Maybe someday it could come true. but until then, I can keep working at it.  Sanctuary~ <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Not updated with the new commands from Resistance, as it was made in the CWC era, but for a beginner it is certainly the best thing that is close to a real (and really complete) editing manual, providing illustrations with texts. It is a 300 pages pdf, so enough reading to keep you busy Yes, I actually do have this, it's pretty good. But i'm talking about something  a lot more complete. Thanks. HotShot~ hey, and I actually already went through this step-by-step first tutorial a couple times.
