Does anyone else hear it like the footstep sound is about a meter behind you in-game? I constantly look over my shoulder to check for enemies, but its just my own footsteps I hear. :868:

Is there a way to bind the "Engine on" menu entry to a joystick/joypad button? I cant find it in the list of bindable commands? And it really kills the emersion when I have to scroll through the menu to turn on a helicopter.

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
NeZz_DK replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hi Guys Who is going to build the PL-01 tank for us including the infrared camoflage system? :-) Polands Stealthy PL-01 It would fit right in to Arma 3 :D -
I wish they made it so that we could write java plugins and include them in the mission packages, that way we would be able to write our scripts in java or in SQF, and it wouldn't need any kind of special setup to run java enhanced missions.

To Clarify:BIS, is the 'new' ARMA3 engine as is?
NeZz_DK replied to Touch Off's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
BF3 and Arma are completely different AI wise, BF3 single player experience is kind of limited and in the Campaign, it seems the AI is kind of railed, so I dont think its a fair comparison -

Arma 3 is multithreaded it uses up to 7 threads, the problem is the comunication between the threads and memory allocations for the individual threads. and it isn't a easy problem to solve. -

I don't see any multi-gpu scaling issues on my setup I created a profile for Arma 3 set the Crossfire profile to "Optimize 1x1" and now both my HD 6970 are utilized up to 99% and the framerate is beetween 30 to 90 FPS. I'm running with a Core i7 3770k @4.2Ghz I do see multithreading issues, but I think its caused by the memory allocator. I see a big difference in framerate across the different memory allocators included with the Alpha, when I have a 100 vs 100 AI battle running. So I hope BIS is going to upgrade the TBB4 memory allocator to the latest version Intel released in feburary, at least it couldn't hurt to try it out and see if it brings any performance improvements. -
Rendering grass at long distances: My thoughts about it
NeZz_DK replied to Elcoo's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Wouldn't this approach give problems with how texures and grass are is the game right now, eg. in the distance you dont see the grass you only see the ground texture so using the grass texture for as the overlay on the soldier wouldn't fix the problem. or would you greate the alpha layer based on the grass and then render the ground texture instead of the grass onto the soldier? -
I'm not a c/c++ developer but if there are any out there could they try creating a malloc implementation with the latest version from http://threadingbuildingblocks.org/ I can see that they released an update February 7, 2013 I dont know if the update brings any major performance gains. I'm currently using -malloc=TCMalloc_bi as I think it performs the best. -malloc=TBB4Malloc_bi is good as well, so it could be fun to compare the current version we have with the updated version :-)

Got crossfire working with Optimize 1x1
NeZz_DK replied to NeZz_DK's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Have you tried opening up task manager while running the game, if you can see a single core maxed out most of the time while running the game, you are CPU limited instead of GPU limited :-) -
I would recommend MSI Afterburner, it can be used for most Nvidia and ATI cards and is great at showing the FPS and other stats about you GPU's ingame, and it's able to record videos that are much smaller than FRAPS

I think I found the best settings for crossfire or at least they work great for my two Radeon HD 6970 cards. By creating a 3D profile for arma3.exe inside CCC and set the CrossFireX option to Optimize 1x1 Fire up your game and disable vsync ingame to get the best possible FPS When you load your first mission you are going to see a bit of texture issues but they go away within a few seconds. on my system the FPS is between 50 and 90 depending on the scene, when the game is't limited by CPU. MSI Afterburner shows that both GPU's are utilized up to 90% with 10 AI squads fighting on the airfield, the FPS drops to around 30 FPS on a Core i7 3770k running @ 3.9Ghz I can see that the game is utilizing one CPU core 95% and the other cores around 20% and utilization on the GPU's drop to around 40%. I'm currently using the settings below ingame: BASIC DISPLAY MODE: Fullscreen RESOLUTION: 1920x1080 VISIBILITY OVERALL : 3500 OBJECT: 1962 SHADOW: 150 RENDERING RENDERING RES: 1920x1080 HDR QUALITY: Standard VSYNC: Disabled ANISOTROPIC FILTERING: Ultra ANTIALIAZING ANTIALIAZING: 8x PIP: High DYNAMIC LIGHTS: Ultra PPAA: SMAA High ATOC: All trees + grass POSTPROCESSING QUALITY: Very High QUALITY TEXTURE: Ultra OBJECTS: High TERRAIN: High CLOUD: High SHADOW: High PARTICLES: Very High Hope it helps :-)

try creating a SLI profile for the game, you are only running on a single GPU if you get that kind of performance

Anybody else seen snakes opening doors?
NeZz_DK replied to NeZz_DK's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I first spotted it with a snake during a mission, I would guess that snake was placed with the wildlife module and that it was a 'agent' type of AI. Now I will have to try adding weapons to the rabbit to see if we can create a Monty Python type of Killer Rabbit :-P
