Operation Arrowhead Campaign
Master gamawa replied to Darvo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Οh I am sure it is. As I said I know almost nothing about scripting and complicated functions. Action-wise I know what I did though: I run with my bradley inside the city and my gunner killed everyone. Then I destroyed the missiles, blew the SUV up and got to the temple. Now I know there is a complicated mission infrastructure under there but as far as it concerns what I actually did to finish the mission, I can recreate that part of the experience. Maybe there will be no briefing, dialog and dynamic triggers and stuff but it will work. I don't mean to diss the creators of the game. I love them. I love their game. I love their vision. I just expected something big and challenging. I guess I have to try it in expert mode and see if it changes the experience. -
Operation Arrowhead Campaign
Master gamawa replied to Darvo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Nothing in this world will EVER compare with the experience of the original Operation Flashpoint. Maybe because I was younger and less jaded, I don't know... Maybe it was the fact that no other game at that time offered the variety and choices of Cold War. The voice acting was shitty the graphics where blocky and the missions were vague at best. But I felt I was there. I've actually 'lived' in Everon. That said I wasn't disappointed with OA at all. It was a fine little campaign. I can't remember any parts where I shat my pants or felt I was involved in the story. I just played through, killed a bunch of dudes and suddenly it was over. Not bad. Now as someone previously stated the original game had 40 missions that involved stealth, armor, intelligence, aircraft, recon, guard duty, defending positions, stealing stuff, convoys, choppers, chasing a man all over the map, wandering for hours in the wilderness... even an amazing 'escape from captivity and run into the night using the stars for navigation' mission which really was awesome and groundbreaking for the time. Was that so hard to do again? I mean you have the technology, the ideas, a fine editor with which you can create amazing missions in minutes! I could probably recreate most of the OA missions in the editor and I just know the basics. Take the final mission for example. Really? Is that... all? Now don't get me wrong, I liked it... I just think BI could do SO MUCH MORE with this. But I guess that's just me. I mean I've created missions in five minutes that lasted longer than the last mission and felt more challenging. -
Arrowhead: Mission 4 defuse the bomb?
Master gamawa replied to Didrik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I can't do it. I give up. I do everything right and when I press enter nothing happens. See first I click on the thing that looks like a hook. then the diamond. then the round thing with the dot on top. then the vertical line, the thing that looks like it has a beak and another diamond. I click on enter and nothing happens. I have the time to try again and when I click on return, I say "we didn't make it" what the hell is going on? and I can't use endmission because I use these keys ingame. Shift is reaload and delete is turn left. edit: I replayed the mission from start and i got different symbols and it worked fine. sorry -
Game needs an attachment system
Master gamawa replied to D00mbuggy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
that takes a whole lot more time than just picking the weapon you want from the crate. You just scroll a couple of times click and bang! you got it. Your way is more .. fiddly... Pick a weapon, select scope, select launcher, select laser sight, select silencer etc. I prefer the standard way. -
it happens to me almost everywhere. It's more noticeable when going up slopes. The ground warps something awful. It's like short range tripping.

yeah it seems you pissed FADE off...

Post-Apocalypse mod
Master gamawa replied to canis lupus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Οh ok. Do they speak Independent-ish though? Cause that's annoying. The only reason I am asking for different factions is because I would like to allow them to fight anyone. Even Independent guys. Just for variety! Anyway you are doing a great job with this. -
Need Help: Placing Objects and Trenches?

Shift and click drag rotates objects. Then you preview and check if it looks right. -
Post-Apocalypse mod
Master gamawa replied to canis lupus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
those are great and PLEASE RELEASE THEM NOW.. but what do you mean with "armed civilians". Do they belong to the civilian group? Cause that... you know... wouldn't work. Can you make west, east and independent versions of these? -
Fixed Range Nightvision
Master gamawa replied to sholio's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
is this still an issue? I want to enjoy a night mission ONCE in my life but unfortunately once you zoom in while wearing nv goggles, everything goes dark. It's almost unplayable. I tried the new fixed range nvgs and they work fine but I didn't have time to test them with reviving. It is very important that it works! Will/Can this be fixed? -
Save BUG in this Insane Buggy Game ...
Master gamawa replied to twinview69's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I am not the nit-picky kind of person but this random capitalizing of words breaks the flow. Don't do that dudes! I had difficulty reading it since in most languages capitals are used when a new sentence starts (I think the german language doesn't follow that rule). having said that I didn't really understand the exact nature of the OP's problem. -

Will my new setup run everything at max?
Master gamawa replied to HmoobSoldier's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
well, do you include view distance when you say everything at max? Because I don't think there is a pc out there that can run Arma 2 at full max settings. Of course that depends on the mission but still I don't think max graphics settings will make the game better anyway. I have a real beefcake of a pc (well, anyway it was when I bought it) and I can run the game at very high settings but I have to make light missions to make the game playable. I play at normal/high settings with a view distance of 3000m and 1680x960 resolution and the game looks mighty fine. I don't think the human eye can tell the difference between 1600 and 1900 res... But you processor can! :) -

Thanks. Anyone came up with a solution for a working anti-zombie injection? -

Master gamawa replied to charon productions's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
"Other than that"??? oh F... I didn't use respawn at all because I wanted it to be scary. But then according to point 2. you die anyway after you inject so .. yeah.. that's why I appeared in the middle of the ocean. Man this should be fixed like NOW! please! -
The Undead Mod
Master gamawa replied to charon productions's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yo I am having a few problems in LAN missions. Sometimes players cannot inject them selves and other times they just appear in the middle of the ocean while nothing was happening. You know we were just picking up ammo from dead bodies when BAM yay I am swimming! Sup wit dat? -
The Undead Mod
Master gamawa replied to charon productions's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Nah that wouldn't work. I respect the creator's wish to tag his work in any way he wants... it just messes up my surprise! :( I was thinking something along the lines of "Communication with outpost x is lost. You guys need to go there, check out what happened and report back as soon as you establish com etc" and then we will drive into the night seeing wrecked cars along the street and dead bodies everywhere thinking that enemy troops attacked the installation when suddenly... "hey guys I think I found some survivors here.. Hello are you alright down there? Do you need help? oh.. oh my.. OH MY GOD RUN! RUN!" man their are going to piss their pants. -

I tried this last night and I must say I am pretty impressed. I had a blast. I was just trying a basic scenario using Jade Groove map (at night time, foggy, rainy) and the units that come with it... those guys with the shotguns and pistols. MFP something or other. The Mad Max guys. I didn't want heavy firepower so I settled for a pistol and a shotgun. For balance. So, I had a team on static machine guns and searchlights on a hill while me and the rest of the team went in the nearby village as zombie bait. As soon as the zombies detected us and chased us we retreated back to the hill and let the M2s wreak havoc upon them. Great eh? The perfect plan! We repeated that a couple of times. What I didn't expect was that a sneaky zombie dude crept behind my team and killed my machine gunners while I was doing my "I AM HERE COME AND GET ME" routine. Suddenly the searchlights turned off and I was left in the darkness with a couple of slugs and, a shitty pistol and one antidote syringe. I started screaming! I am a 33 year old man and I started screaming like a little girl. the only solution would be to gather as much ammo and antidotes I could, from my fallen comrades and run to the hills. Which is exactly what I did... I managed to get only a couple of shotgun shells before the zombies overrun our hill outpost. I was already infected with their disease anyway. So I ran. I run into the darkness freelooking behind my back every so often, until I saw light in the distance. An abandoned fort. I seriously felt there was hope even though I knew there was nothing there. Just the fact that there were a couple of lights there made me feel secure. I run up the ladders and took the antidote. Then I heard them coming. I did NOT expect that. I did not expect them to follow me so easily in the dark for such a great distance. Five or six bloodthirsty zombies came running in the fort screaming and panting. I just stood there with my shotgun.. frozen. It was horrible! And by horrible I mean AWESOME! Now... May I ask you dear Charon. Is there a way I can disable the module message that appears on screen when the game starts? My Arma friends don't know I downloaded this and I am preparing a surprise for them. I don't want them to know there will be zombies in the game until they see an army of them. I want them to think we are doing our usual "clear the town" thing. -
Which is the Best Feature you like about ARMA II
Master gamawa replied to pravinrocks4u's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The muthafukkin community. You guys! All the people that spend their time making addons, scripts, maps and modules. Of course, Arma2 being an open game, helps a lot but you make this game what it is. Imagine if there was no active community in this game. You'd have Chernarus, Utes and the basic Opfor/BLuefor package and.. well.. a lot of unrealized potential. As someone said before. BI makes the engine, the community makes the game. And don't get me wrong, Arma is a great game all by it's self. Huge, sandboxy and pretty well made. -

Master gamawa replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
you see friend... that's what's wrong. If they lose interest in the game BECAUSE of the bad voice acting then I guess this game is not for them. What makes ARMA great is the potential. The freedom. The fact that there so many ways to tackle the mission. Apparently your friends consider voice acting more important than game play. Don't even try to get them into arma. They will probably whine about some other outlandish shit. Out of my dozen gamer friends I managed to 'turn' only four of them and I've stopped trying. It's a lost cause dude. -
"I am afraid I cannot let you do that awenger." No it's not possible. Buy another copy. It's cheap.

I agree, good voice acting adds a lot to a game. But in the case of Arma 2 I SERIOUSLY couldn't care less. I guess I am used to it. I kind of like those goofy bastards and their "ENEMY- MACHINE GUNNER- FAR- oh my leg!" They are my special little guys! -
Pistol is not displayed in holster.

YAY! Does it work for rifles too or is it just for pistols? -
Island Jade Groove
Master gamawa replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I like this map. Long roads, many ground elevation variations, good atmosphere... very good. Now about some things I noticed. I have the same problem with the car. My driver is sunk into the road below but you already addressed that. There is also a problem concerning the shadow of the wooden ramps. It seems part of the ramp (or it's shadow I am not sure) is rendered before everything else and you end up seeing a dark horizontal strip floating in front of you when you approach it. Needs more abandoned/ruined towns. More deserted and broken stuff. Maybe a long ass bridge over a huge ravine. As some people said it need more special little places. How about an oil platform out in the ocean? Some abandoned factory complex in the mountains. There are great elements in islands such as Klurs and Namalsk that you can get great ideas from. Thanks for a great map dude.
