dedicated server error results in waiting
Monkwarrior replied to Monkwarrior's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Thanks, then we will reinvestigate. Monk. -
Gents, We are converting our mod to arma2 and for playtesting we are using a dedicated server. The server is not starting our mission and we suspect that it is waiting for some errors. When we host a game ourselves then we can press OK when an error occurs, but on a dedicated server thats impossible. Thats why we suspect that the server is not loading the mission. We will fix the errors in time, but is there a way to make sure the server continues loading the mission and thus ignoring the errors ? Maybe some serverside variable or something else, any suggestion is more then welcome. Greetingz, Monk.

Would you pay for feature based development? (this poll is not directly linked to BI)
Monkwarrior replied to Yoma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
This game shows that a different businessmodel is allready very successfull: a business model based on sharing. BIS provided the tools for us so we can share our creations amongst ourselves. Micro-payments is something I'm against, there are too many examples where the total costs are huge in comparison what people really get (WOW for instance). Sharing is the present and future, as long as BIS focusses on providing good tools I'm willing to pay them for these tools. We will do the rest. That's a win-win in my book. Monk. -
Thank you, B.I.S.; Sign if you agree.

Star Wars Stormtrooper
Monkwarrior replied to mcruppert's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
This does look very interesting indeed. Maybe I can motivate our sound-expert to get you some appropiate sounds ;) Greetingz, Monk. -
And here for all ww2 tanklovers: * gears for tanks * stalling posibilities when refs are not what they should be for the used gear * using binocs when inside tanks (unbuttoned) * bounce off shells on sloped armour * turrets should automatically move when the hull moves (NOT stay on target) * variables for turning radius in the config files * variable for using tracks in opposite directions in the config files * variable for different turretspeeds (with or without engine) * possibility to use dynamic attaching of things to hulls * turn off the automatic tankbehaviour, players should handle that, not the game Greetingz, Monk.

Fww2 - finland at war 1939-1945
Monkwarrior replied to Von Rundstedt's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
It looks excellent. It really adds to the variety. Just be carefull not to overdo it. Which vehicles do you intend to use ? Greetingz from an i44 coder, Monk. -
Russian Tank Pack
Monkwarrior replied to 343rdBadger's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Always good to see more tanks in arma. Thanks ! Monk. -
I was on the verge of asking my server hosting party to patch our server to 1.03. Is that impossible then ? If that is a problem for joining our server then I would vote bad, that's a big no-no in patch-country. Besides that the patch has a massive changelog and that's always good. I'm glad with every patch since the game is very playable for me. Greetingz, Monk.

Would you like to see a WW2 Eastern Front Mod?
Monkwarrior replied to =Spetsnaz='s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I was part of the RO modteam back then and I can assure you the RO-engine and the arma-engine are miles apart. These differences are so huge, it's like comparing two totaly different games. Right now our modteam has joined the I44 team to make sure that all tanks produced are as close to reality as possible within the current game-limits. I highly doubt that even the new Unreal3 engine can achieve what has been done on the arma2 engine allready. So yes I would like to see a ww2 eastern front mod. We might even provide some tanks for that in the future, who knows. Monk. -

Snap shooting..pop up from crouched then back again
Monkwarrior replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Well, that's exactly the reason why I play this game instaed of many others where this IMO arcadish behaviour is catered on a large scale. So according to me I would say: sorry bud, wrong game ;) Monk. -
Taking screenshots? How? What utility?
Monkwarrior replied to Horrace's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Or use Gamecam, it captures screenshots and movies, just like Fraps. Monk. -
BIS should probably have done some homeworks since 2001
Monkwarrior replied to Alienfreak's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Totally agree with this one. Hitpoints still in there in 2009 , a very sad matter indeed. Monk. -
What does this quote from the BIS site mean?
Monkwarrior replied to Beltfed's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
How can it be activated then ?Greetingz, Monk. -
Could Arma 2 become a de facto Steel Beasts Pro PE?
Monkwarrior replied to cadmium77's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
This discussion seems to be focused on one thing: fps and drawdistance. There are however many more factors which make a game feel and act like a tanksimulator. I'm member of a group of tanknuts/modders who are willing to make a ww2-based tanksimulator with this engine. Currently we are trying to improve lots of other tank-based properties for arma2. Things which are far more important when it comes down to multi-player experience like detailed damages, notification of damages, sounds, tankbehaviour , gears, stalling, maximum climb-angle, weight distribution, turning-speed, optics etc etc etc. Is this the ideal engine for tanking: no. But it's probably the best commercial non-tank engine around. So that's why we are here. See you on the battlefield gents. Monk. -
Louder interior sound for shells hitting vehicles
Monkwarrior replied to Blake's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yes we need these sounds. Seems to be a big bug for the armoured warfare part. Monk. -
Maybe in 10 years you'll find out why I say those things Jerry. I really hope you find out sooner. Greetingz, Monk.

Why not listen to sound advice ? Give them no attention and they will disappear. All things grow when they are given attention. Do I really have to repeat myself Monk.

Realistic Tank Firing System
Monkwarrior replied to xela89's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Excellent work, this is really needed for tankwarfare. it even makes me feel like playing with SB Pro Monk. -
Excellent, now try to add some diversion and a bit more variable placement of the sandbags. Right now it looks a bit gamey/unrealistic . Nontheless a very nice piece of work. Monk.

Steam would be a godsent for BIS. Tripwire made huge sales because of their move to steam. Topics like this always attract the no-voters so this poll is not how the community of arma thinks IMO Majority doesn't care I suppose. Steam has become a usefull stable product by now. My only "concern" is my privacy, since it's rather unknown which info really gets send. Oh and steam does NOT rule out that you cann't get a hard copy of arma. It's just more convenient to get updates etc. So for me: yes Steam all the way.
