-Six/Isla Duala dependency : done ( thx play with six Team). -acta13 : Can you provide a screenshot, I dont see anything realy disturbing by night on my computer ( Anyone else has problems ?) ? -lore/Setting : Well, I never thought in term of lore or depicting a peculiar setting when planning for this terrain. What I aimed at was creating a terrain different from the ones we aready had, and that could allow for a different gameplay than arma 3's vanilla islands. Specificaly I wanted to recreate close range combat in non urban areas. I'm also quite fond of the style of recon missions performed by MACV-SOG (John Plaster's books are a great read on this subject : http://www.amazon.com/Sog-Secret-Americas-Commandos-Vietnam/dp/045123118X?bcsi-ac-95bb4efa6a1646c8=229BB80200000503YLZMcA5eq75lAnb+j/sHZ9pw5l+iAAAAAwUAADBiUQAIBwAAKAAAAACQAwA=) I tried to make the map so that this kind of missions can be performed, hence the wide jungle areas. Eventualy I chose africa rather than south east asia, because there's more real life military actions taking place here those days or in the near past (Ivory Coast, Congo, Nigeria, Sierra leone....) -Plans : replacing streetlamps with A3 ones, and maybe add some ( definitely something needed). I don't want to add more buildings to this map, it's already quite densely populated. But i'm planing more maps of the same kind. First something close to the mekong delta, with wide rivers ( Blazing away in fast boats definitely a must). Then maybe something more mountaineous like Laos/vietnam (but given the Ai's management or lack of slopes, I have some doubts). -Now a quiz : N'ziwasogo's terrain mesh is made from ASTER GDEM data altered to suit gameplay purposes (islands were added, and altitudes modified, the whole area is in real life above sea level) Who can find where this actualy is on our planet ? -

N'Ziwasogo V0.5 is available : Changelog : -Moved thouthands of trees and bushed in and around the built up areas for a more realistic an logical placement. -Complete AI usable road network (with recolored path textures). -Removed misplaced trees that were in the water. -redone the clutter (grass made lower to allow fighting from the prone position without being blinded by grass). -Sounds revorked a little (this time no more squawking bird, for good). -Download package contains all necessary Pbos except obviously A3MP. -Toned down ground textures ( a little). I'm curently modifying the terrain, to address many little issues. Indeed the roads are mostly textures out of towns, it will be corrected in next release. I'll release an updated version that will contain all the needed Pbos. Hopefully in less than a week. -

@Tequila : Indeed, i had forgotten this sound was also present in Day3.wss, i'll remove that one also newt time. @Surfer : do this : ...\Arma 3\@Nziwasogo\Addons\projeta3-05.pbo all the PBOs must be in the "addons" folder inside the @anything folder. Name of @folder does't matter, "addons" is mandatory. from isladuala's directory, copy the 3 Pbos (brg_africa, ibr_dtowns, ibr_plants) inside @Nziwasogo\Addons\ you don't need to actualy launch isladuala, only copy 3 pbos. -

Changelog: v0.4 - we've found that annoying loud bird, been plucked and roasted, you can now enjoy a much quieter jungle Only the sounds were modified, no more jungle sounds spreading over all your islands ,and one bird sound was deleted. -

"Only" the objects used would be far too much work ,and still be quite a big download. You can play this island without A3MP, it will work, but some objects will be missing. You'll still get the jungle though as the trees come from BRG africa. -

Finaly, we've found that annoying loud bird, been plucked and roasted, you can now enjoy a much quieter jungle : http://www.mediafire.com/download/32i5jy0uf06yc3g/NziwasogoSounds_v04.rar Addon contains only modified sounds (not enough time to work on the island at the time). The other good news is that the sounds now are not played on other islands. -

Sure the 3D object could work, but it's completely out of my capabilities, and i doubt it would look "natural", you's need to tune the color so it integrates with the ground, or make the ground uniform, which is dull. It's already quite impossible to make rocks that feel like they aren't artificial. Higher terrain resolution is an option (wasn't with Visitor3) but the problem is where to find high resolution terrain sources ? I use ASTER GDEM data, but it's 30m resolution, and with this, sand dunes look like hills. The curves and undulations that make sans dunes uniques are lost. -

Redoing what is already made available by the comunity ( A3MP or All in Arma) would be pointless. It woul bring nothing more than already exists. Regarding big dunes ( dunes in general) it's impossible to make one that realy looks like it should, that is convex/concave slopes, and sharp edges. The way the terrain is built you always en up with a rather soft and round summit, or very edgy and looking absolutely not natural. -

Yes, same size And Yes, will need A3MP ( that's the only way to have buildings other than Arma3's mediterranean houses, which wouldn't look well in the desert) -

The ground texture is an actual photo/satelite image of the area West of Dariyah in Saoudi Arabia. I've altered the image in Photoshop to strenghten the tones and help the ground texture blend with the detailed ground textures. So no it's not that orange in reality, but orange gives a warmer feeling, which is good for the desert. -

Sounds are fixed, no mode jungle birds on all islands. (Thx FSF_ToF) I'll release an updated version during the month on May, after i'm finished with some modifications on the island itself. -

To answer some questions, Units are part of a pack I made, that is to be released soon. The actual name of the map in system terms is "projeta3-05" The realworld terrain data are those of the area around Shasta Lake, in northern California (largely modified). -

Strange, i don't see the sky as you see it, it's "normal" on my rig ( like altis or stratis's one.) The lighting config has nothing specific, just copied the one from Stratis if i remember well ( and it's the same as Koplic's). Do you have this kind of sky on Koplic also ? ( Koplic is not dependant on A3MP, nor on any A2 item) -

@L3TUC3 : Strange indeed, @mbg_gen_afr_buildings is not even a requirement for this terrain. @Scorch : No, this terrain will stay as it is ( too late to change that now), but i may in the future, when i'm finished witn N'Ziwasogo ( some technical difficulties to overcome) make a whole series of island using the same buildings, and same vegetation layout, with different terrain mesh/themes. I'm thinking of a mountain terrain ( Laos inspired) , rivers/swamps (Mekong Delta inspired) and maybe an archipellago. -

I'm trying to make sounds that improve the feeling of a deep, alien, threatening jungle. Given you can't feel humidity, heat, mud.....in Arma, this leaves only the sounds. This said if someone wants to make an alternative sound pack for this island I would not be anoyed, quite the opposite indeed. There's no dependancy on the sounds, so that everyone can choose what he feels is better, or even disable them. -
