The (un)Official Freetrack Users Q&A Thread
MehMan replied to bushlurker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I gave up on using the PS3 eye. So I just sold it. For twice as much as I bought it. No profit though, I just covered my expenses that I had with buying the materials. -
Jesus, that's half his posts on these forums! I'd throw a cheap punch about having no life, but....oh wait I just did. :p j/k

Macs are overpriced for what they offer. I have to use a Mac at college. God it sucks ass. From shortcuts to the mouse. There are a few gadets I'd like in windows. But hey presto, I can have that in windows too with a few modifications. Then why the fuck use macs? They're really made for people who just can't bother to learn how to use PCs. The people who are sick of windows and bash macs either switch to linux or would switch to linux would it have DirectX/XYZ component implementation.

Damn it, YES! You guys were beating a dead horse 200 pages ago, it was already a pulp back then, now there's no horse left. Just let it go ffs.

Oh my god, you are basing your whole argument on one very very small poll that was rigged. Go you. And it's not. Far from it. -
Yeah, you're right, Dragon Rising's SP sucks.

This is more frustrating than it's worth. When it's working it's always jittering, despite any settings, if I set the smoothing high it doesn't work properly. This is really not looking good. Slowly I am giving up. Next to that is the problem with freetrack and the ps3 eye compatibility. -

OH god, I remember having a lot of trouble with that a while ago, which was my main problem with using VLC. Other than that, VLC rules! EDIT: Hmm, yeah that option turns itself on when you have a file playing. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU VLC. EDIT2: Seems my version was old. All works fine now. Phew. -

Ok, I've tried using media player classic and frankly it sucks ass. Half the time it lags down my system so incredibly bad(how the hell can it do that?) that I just revert to using VLC. VLC isn't my primary choice because for some odd reason it doesn't support double click play. When I double click on a file and VLC is already open and playing it adds that file to the playlist instead of playing it. Why I don't know, but is there a way to change that? -

Just copy the FreeTrackClient.dll file into your ArmA2 directory and it should all work. -

Oo, pozdrav! I'm using SFH-485P LEDs which are already wide angled: So no way to file it down. I am still playing around with my profile and the drivers. I first need to have a sure way of getting it to work properly in all conditions, then I can go and play with my profile, hehe. -
Oh god that was an amazing part.

I didn't want to remove the IR filter or dig around because if it turns out there's no way of this working at all, I could sell the PS3 eye on. Thus I only cut up a floppy and it does the job. Like this: http://i387.photobucket.com/albums/oo312/Gorak_2008/Slika342.jpg and the IR leds show up like this: http://i387.photobucket.com/albums/oo312/Gorak_2008/ps3eye.jpg -

Does anybody know how to stop the jittering when you turn your head and hold it at a certain angle? If I want to look a bit left and keep staring left then the view jerks a bit... -
Gah, MW copy. They even copied the music. Which was copied from C&C Generals. well, cod has the modern warfare throne to themselves, MOH won't stand a chance.

This. How is this thread still alive? I stopped caring ages ago.

MehMan replied to bushlurker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm going to shit my pants. I've got it working! I've been installing my drivers incorrectly GAH! I relied on windows to install my latest drivers, and they ofcourse mucked up, as they didn't use the alexp drivers that I freshly installed, but the much newer ones. ofcourse, that led to a lot of trouble etc etc. After I manually selected which drivers to install it started working. That's with the default alexp drivers and not some 3rd party ones. HOWEVER, now that I do have it working I see that there's still a ton of work ahead of me. 1.The LEDs are visible, but sometimes mess with freetrack. First thing I'm going to do is put a smaller resisitor in the circuit and build a better rig. This one has flaws. Plastic and boiling water it is. If that fails, I'll remove the IR filter. 2. FT wants to capture in 640x480 only. Doesn't want to support any other resolutions. It does capture at 640x480 @ 60 FPS, so we'll see how that works out. The problem with an increase in FPS is the decrease in image quality. Well, I'll see how this works once I have it all setup. EDIT: Well, this sucks. The DLL in 2.0b81019 is a virus supposedly. And thus I can use it if I exclude it in nod32 BUT I'm not very comfortable doing that... -

Can anybody recommend a better virtual machine than VirutalPC? It needs to be as simple ot use as that but needs to support USB ports, or at least recognize them. -

Righto, a bit of an update I suppose. I've tried my solution on a 32 bit system with winxp, I use XP64. There my setup with a ps3 eye cam works. It tracks the whole input and even better, works great! But it only works in 640x480 and 30FPS. I've found that it only works with the 2.0b81019 drivers and no other. That's with FT 2.2. Now it might've been hardware or just the OS, but it's hard to test. I'd need a Virtual PC like application where it can use USB ports. Only the latest virtual PC that only works on W7 uses USB ports, grrr. More testing ahead! -
