This trick isnt working for me any longer. I just downloaded the armaENG.exe (1.05) version of the game and when I renamed arma.exe to fear.exe I get an error "Softwrap file error1". I did a search on the forums and couldnt find a solution. Has anyone had this problem?

I tried the 100.95 drivers and they didnt work for me... I am running 2x 7800GTs and even after changing the inf file it didnt install.

Anyone who has ARMA now and uses TrackIR with it? Could you post a video, some screen shots or maybe just answer a question or 2 about the use of trackir... How is it, in general for all available units (troop,Heli,Jets)? If you are flying the little bird can you lean your head out the side? I am a big flight sim fan but never purchased the TrackIR setup. Now with ARMA supporting it and the ability to use it for more than just vehicles I thought about getting it.

I doubt the company that will produce the english version allow you to trade them a copy from another company for their version. They have to make money some how... Its not just BIS...

Yeah I agree with the jets.. They need to be fixed.. The rudder should have more authority.. In general the flight model needs to be reworked. Right now it feels like you are ice skating. I know this isnt a flight sim but I would like to see a working HUD rather than looking over it...

I was a BF2 player and was also close to 1000 hours of play time. I do recommend this game to any bf2 player and have... So much so I bought the German version. Yeah this game is a big resource hog but that is to be expected with a new game and a game that is on a such a grand scale. There are only a few things I dont like about this game... Such as CTI not working as advertized. The others are all how people play the game and can be fixed by having a private server. CTI and any other bug that there might be can be fixed over time as the game matures. Other than that the game is pretty cool. -
This is something BIS needs to know since the Dedicated server program is still in beta...

I havent experienced much lag at all not since 1.02.. If it is not your PCs that it could be your router or your connection to the net.

I never said this in my posts.. But I do enjoy flying the 1.02 helos... When I first installed this game with 1.01 I wasnt very happy with the flight model. And although they do not fly like I am use to (bf2) I am more than happy to learn how to fly this model and be effective with it. I think BIS did find a good blend between realism, or atleat what I think of realism, and sim...The only thing I wish could be changed is the zoom for the pilot.. Those little sqwishies are hard for me to see on the ground It would be cool if we had a coop map that was created for helo training.. have some dummy targets, way points ect...Heck I might just create such a map...anyone interested in playing it? Â

I am trying to make a few missions and I havent been able to get AI transport helos to land and pick up player controled players... Anyone know how to do this? thanks

Yeah I may have not explained it well enough.. He did say that the pedals are used to keep you in trim. And also that you could mash down on them hard to get your nose to turn at say 125mph but it would take you out of trim and make for a bumpy ride because the nose wants to stay pointed in the direction of travel because of the wind. What he ment is to use not only your pedals but your stick (cyclic'sp' to turn the nose in the direction you want to go. Yes we can do this in ARMA...

Update I spoke with a few of our officers in our air unit, these guys are currently pilots and have been pilots in the military. They all have time in the littlebird... In the best way that I could I explained how the helicopters flew in ARMA, I was on the phone with them for more than an hour, with my biggest point to them was not being able to use the tail rotar at high speed. They told me that is correct.. If you have forward speed and you try to give it alot of rudder the aircraft acts like a weather vein.. Meaning it wants to stay pointed into the wind. In a nutshell you really cant rudder left or right during normal forward flight. They told me to get the nose of the aircraft to turn during flight you have to use all of the controls in conjunction... After the first of the year, 2nd week in January, I will be going out there for a ride. I will take my HD camera with me and make a movie or 2...

No it was Mr. Murry's.. I just replayed it and realized hey there are enemy troops in here.. lol.. This version seemed to target men... If I rode by an enemy the arty fired with out me calling it...IMO.. I think the blast damage should be increased with this.. If a round lands 6 feet behind me while I am standing up I should be toast..

You know I tried this sample arty map and called arty down on me 5 times.. Not once was I killed or injured.. Just pretty puffs of smoke all around.

I am a police officer and have been looking for a good reason to take a ride in our military surplus MH-6s.. Maybe this is the reason I have been looking for.. If anything I will ask them Monday about the flight dynamics of the MH-6 and helicopters flight in-general. Since I work in our Public Affairs unit maybe I can get some video footage of the flight...Maybe we will see.. If possible I will interview on or off camera one of the pilots.. So send me some questions you would like me to ask.

Practice practice is right. Make a quick map in the editor with the heli of your choice and fly around to get the feel of the bird. The 1.02 patch did make the helis much much easier to fly almost to the point were I really really like it.. The only thing I wish was in there was more authority to turn the nose with the tail rotar when at "high" speed. To answer a few of your questions... To drop off forward air speed raise the nose by pulling back and reduce the throttle. If you want to stop quickly drop the throttle to 0 and pull back on the stick to about a 70 to 80 degree nose up. watch the alt when you start going down give it more throttle when you get close to 0 airspeed drop the nose to level. If you start going backwards puch forward on the stick. There is no real quick hover. You have to plan ahead and slow down before you get to were you want to hover. If you practice with quick stops you will be able to judge the distance you will need to stop and hover. I have not yet been able to kill a tank with anything other than a hellfire in the air. I think using FFARs would be a waste of ammo if you tried to take them on in a littlebird. Those are best used to kill enemy troops and light armored vehicles in mass.

I had the same problem.. All I did was reinstall the game without uninstalling or deleting the original folder.. Patched it and re-entered my cd key.. all worked fine.. Maybe someone entered their activation key instead of the cd key? -
Now that the game is out in some areas... Does anyone know how or if the harrier bombs are dumb or can be laser designated? I have only flown it once and didnt see anything..

I think the rudder and tail rotar need to be looked at above 60kph you have no control of either

I was doing some testing for SP last night and I jacked up all quality settings to their max and put the visual distance to 2500m and on my machine still had a rock solid 25-30fps.. 3400+ 2gig ddr400 7800gt 256meg sound blaster audiogy x gamer.

The only question I have about helicopter and the harrier is.. Why doesnt the tail rotar and the rudder on the jet work when you get over 100 (kph?). Seriously on helis the tail rotar does nothing at "High Speed" it should be able to turn and point the nose of the heli no matter what speed you are going. It's not like air compression is effecting it.. This is my only real problem with the flight model. The other stuff I can ajust to..

I just got ARMA and so far I like it.. The Helicopters will take alot of getting use to like when you kick in the tail roter the helicopter banks...Strange! but I can live with it.. I did find 2 things that Erked me... The first thing is you cant reload your weapon while running.. When I hit the reload button in a dead run the guy stops covers down and reloads.. This is not good. I mean cant our guys pat their heads and rub their stomachs at that same time? The other thing is on one of the sp mission you had to drive a truck to pick up some troops.. When driving the truck in first person its like the guy is sitting on some phone books and not looking directly out the front window but more like a 45 degree down angle...Is it just me? Over all the game looks great.. I cant wait until I get everything setup and tweaked.. Ohh as for the fx settings...Everything is on high.. Res is set at 1152x864..View distance is around 2100m...I didnt notice any slow downs or lag..I didnt have fraps on so I didnt check the fps.. System.
