It's somewhat remenisant of Gothic 3, and all of the inclusive preformance issues associated with that game. For me, my X 1900XTX with 512 VRAM ran the game at a totally unacceptable level, and it wasn't until I downgraded to a 7900 GS OC (over-clocked), that my preformance skyrocketed. I find it unacceptable for a game, especially one that certainly doesn't contain much, if any "eye-candy" at all, to have such wide reaching and varied preformance problems. Oh sure, it looks amazing when compared to OFP, but most all followups and or sequels look better than their predecessors. My US patch is currently at 65%, so, I spose we'll see how this latest one affects game playability. I knew I should've keep my German version installed.

For f#&ks sake! I foresee ten to twenty plus more moronic threads just like this one.

Far too many high quality shots to post. Photo Bucket

so do you know where the m14 came from? M-14

That would be my screen-shot from my post. Here and here. I've been pimping Cam's addon all over the net, and have also convinced our guys (Razors Squad), to place it on the server. Again, many thanks Cameron for an excellent addon!
-
Please do so, mate.

What you should expect? PFFT! Found this after a whole minute of searching. Also, it certainly wouldn't hurt to approach a topic in a level-headed fashion, as opposed to that of a troll. I'm also fairly sure you could provide a bit more detail when it concerns your system. EDIT - Kode beat me too it.

A small request for a addon... or rather a modification of a existing addon. I'd like too see a Stryker with the proper Slat Armor cage.

Question about upcoming 1.08 & file compression
Marines replied to john_mcclane's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
7-Zip is a far better compression utility than most of the others. I also would like to see said utility used. -
Thank God... The default flak jackets are not only incorrect, but they're also not in tune with the current gear in use by the US Army. Keep up the good work matey!
-
Disregard! I unzipped the the bloody PBOs into a different folder. Excellent addon by the way. Cheers!
-
Skaven, the addons aren't showing up for me. Could this be related to the 1.07 Beta patch and compatibility issues?

This is top-notch, Cam! It's nice to see a accurate unit replace those highly inaccurate stock models BIS included.

ArmA VBS2 Mod???? What is this???
Marines replied to Chip360's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
@ Snake22000 There will always be those that don't like certain aspects of any given mod, and I have mine about yours. However, I will comment on the good things. Tracers - These are top notch! I can't begin to say that enough. Excellent job! Armor Interface - Another excellent addition. It streamlines a otherwise unintuitive clunky default one. Keep up the good work! -
well, that looks pretty good! Just guessing - must be over a million? Sorry mate, I suppose I quoted the wrong ones as they were not very recent. Update - UK sales as of May 19th state it has fallen to the 28th position, and the Aussie charts as of May 24 no longer place it in the top 10. As to US sales I'm not sure.

I wanted to reply that the OFPE engine came from the PC version of OFP and that they worked on the engine, its not a direct port, but then i remembered that the whole statement is so useless i decided to write this instead. No matter what the platform, games, any game is still developed on a PC. However, when you take the primary coding for a PC game and port it to a console, it has to be updated - physics engine or collision detection (and collision response), sound, scripting, animation, artificial intelligence, networking, streaming, memory management, threading, and a scene graph, just to name a few. Essentially at that point, it becomes primarilary a console engine. Using the same engine to then build upon that, and to take said engine over to a PC, then requires a reversal of the of the aforementioned steps. If it isn't done properly, or if the technology for said PC or console is outdated, you then have compatibility issues. ArmA has all the classical wounds and missteps of a ported engine/game. Ensure that you know what you're talking about next time.
-
There will always be problems porting an engine from one platform to another. Which is what ArmA is by the way, a ported engine from a console to the PC.

I have to agree with what the majority has posted, so I won't go into repeating what others have said. However, as a long-time OFPr', I too was excited when ArmA was announced, and following my initial purchase of the German version, and after a few weeks of actually playing it, I simply lost interest. Which wasn't the case with OFP. Something has to be said for a game that held it's own for so long, a game while damned ulgy by todays standards, continues to maintain a fanatical following (gameplay over eye-candy wins anyday). ArmA on the other hand does not and may not ever be as great. Perhaps it's due to the awful preformance so many experience. Maybe it's the fact that the AI is shoddy at best or downright horrid in the least. Perchance it's due too a clunky control scheme, or a MP interface that doesn't seem to work the way it was intended. Operation Flashpoint, with all it's early issues and failings, was still able to suck the player in, keeping them immersed in the setting. ArmA simply doesn't achieve that... for me at least. I believe we all expected a bit too much, improvements we hoped would've been implimented. Unfortunantly though, they were not, and now we're left with a buggy/unstable game, a game that is severly lacking by todays standards even in the most minimal aspects. EDIT - I begining to wonder if these preformance issues are related to the engine being ported from a console.

There are a few valid points in the review, but the vast majority of it is complete nonsense. My 6YO nephew could write a more concise and in-depth review than that.
-
I'm certainly pleased with the game. Not happy, pleasantly suprised or exuberant, just pleased. Essentially what we have here is OFP 1.97, or 2.00... depending upon how you look at it I spose. I think there was a broad base for improvement upon what they did previously, but unfortunantly, it looks as if BIS simply rushed a product that is several years behind the curve in terms of what developers are capable of today, especially given the current technology available.

And you feel disturbed by killing animals ? Sorry dude, you´d better invest your feeling to Ali Iraq first. It´s just...they don´t look so cute, right ? Dolphins represent the the top tier of intelligent mammals on the planet, and they're endangered. FYI, I have a great deal of respect for the Iraqi's, I think they are a stand-up people with an excellent set of values towards family and a work ethic. But then again, dolphins aren't exactly carrying AK's and RPG's around... They're an ENDANGERED species cover by international law, a law the Japanese regulary violate simply because they enjoy such delicacies.

You're not behind a router are you?

Not with that outdated GPU.

I shot him a PM but I haven't heard back. Does anyone else have experience in trouble shooting routers?
