    I think you're correct. IIRC, StarForce protected games require a specific patch to update the necessary drivers when the game files are updated. Since the retail boxed version, and the downloaded version contain different copy protection schemes, it seems sonly reasonable that seperate patches are needed. EDIT: Of course this didn't seem to apply to 1.01. So....

    Correct. I'd like to see a semi-seamless interface regarding arty. CoC did a excellent job with OFPs' artillery mod. I just hope that they can improve upon that with ArmA.

    I thank you for your service Marine! Â As someone with real knowledge of this stuff maybe you can tell us a better way to target using the artillary. Assuming with some work or a mod that it can be done, what is a practicle/realistic way to target the artillary for longer distances? Â Using the targeting sight with elevation, clicking on the map where you want your fire to fall, or the CTI (mortar) style of grid coordinates? I too would love to have some "real" arty support. Â Maybe I can talk some people smarter than me into helping me make it happen. I don't think I can't really help you in this manner. The arty in the game is used as a direct fire only weapon at present, and I've yet to properly toy with it. If it was to be properly modded, then you'd have to take into account the FO's and FDC aspects. Then you grid coords and dispersal of said fire. Not too mention the round that is to be used...ICM, DPICM, RAP, etc. At present, I don't even know where to begin.

    As a former Marine Corps Artillery-man....I had high hopes for the arty factor of the game. Pretty dissapointing.... EDIT - Nice work Balschiow! I will have to give this a try.

    Just another like complaint that doesn't really affect overall gameplay. If you want the Avenger system, then mod it in when the tools come out. But I hear ya! As a former Marine (1999-2006), I've become accustomed to seeing the Avenger and modern MANPAD systems. The Vulcan is looooong gone from the inventory. However, I will say this. ArmA is a engine with OFP mechanics and a few improvments in overall play. Honestly, what did you expect?

    That CPU and card should be more than up to the task of running ArmA at moderate detail. How about this? AMD 64 X2 5000+ 3G RAM Alternating between a Radeon 1900 with 256 & a 1300 with 512. The 1900 preforms like a charm with games such as GRAW, Company of Heroes, and R6 Vegas, with all of them at full settings. But with ArmA, I still get awful frame rates when near foliage. This is not a hardware issue, it's an engine problem.

    I can understand some of these complaints. Shoddy preformance on high end computers (like myself), severe bugs that drastically affect gameplay, and minor bugs that remain an annoyance are all valid. But these posts about the lack of playable units, features, mechanical pyhsics etc etc etc, are a complete bore and waste of time. Let's all focus on the core issues of the game at present, and avoid what should have been there, what's not there, what wasn't implemented, and or what would have made ArmA the greatest game of all time. There is certainly a lot of bitching going on. Some of it I agree with, most of it I do not.

    I'm a bad bad man... I spose I wasn't paying attention. It was 4:00AM and all. Apologies Isn't there a way to scale the image to a 100x100 preview thumbnail? It would certainly eliminate theses issues without compromising the image quality. EDIT: FLK Sniper Firefight Armor MOUT Blackhawk Down

    Aimpoint implementation

    Correct to an extent. There are different aimpoint sights with different configs. But the one your talking about is the Aimpoint M, which is the one currently in use, and enables the operator to keep both eyes open. It's my sight of choice in Iraq.

    Performance Issue

    I just picked up on that this morning. While playtesting in the editor, I placed myself along with 10 infantry squads (5 OPFOR/5 IFOR) in an urban enviornment. I left the graphics settings at normal with a resolution of 1024 x 768. A hellacious firefight ensued, and I experienced no frame rate issues what so ever. I tried it again, with the same resolution, and all graphics options set to high. Again, I experienced no frame rate issues at all. So this got me thinking. I cleared the map of any units, and place myself in an area with dense foliage. MY FPS dropped considerably while moving on foot after doing this. Well, I spose my ArmA experience will be limited to the editor.

    i'll look into it some more. but yeah im on newest drivers, AA isnt forced in drivers (which look really naff by the way) not a virus or spyware, but ill do it anyway. i know its not normal performance ! every other game runs really well, even at 1440x900 res, and in most games with a high AA setting. Surely i dont have to stuggle along at 800x600 res with a blurry tft screen ? - i havnt used 800x600 for any game in years.  I'm not convinced its a step forward in graphics  is anyone actually running at a nice res ? i.e 1440x900 at 16:10 aspect ? short of SLI, im not sure what i should do. This Or This

    ArmA actually runs better on the 1300 with 512 than it does on my 1900 with 256. Go figure...
